http://www.denofgeek.com/movies/655681/batman_3_gets_a_name_riddler_ruled_out_as_villain.html

Quote
Christopher Nolan reveals the name of the next Batman film - and also suggests we won't be seeing The Riddler in it...

Finally, some of the answers as to the make-up of Christopher Nolan's upcoming third Batman film are slotting into place.

In a new interview over at Hero Complex, Nolan has firstly confirmed what the name of the new film will be. So be gone, Batman 3, and instead get ready for The Dark Knight Rises.

Nolan also said of the new film that "We’ll use many of the same characters as we have all along, and we’ll be introducing some new ones".

He also, as part of the interview, however, eliminated The Riddler as the villain of the film. The Riddler has been widely expected to be his choice, with Joseph Gordon-Levitt strongly linked with the role. But Nolan seems to have other ideas, and he's incidentally also ruled out Mr Freeze. Although few people thought Mr Freeze would be top choice.

Gloriously, the film will not be released in 3D, either. Just thought we'd mention that.

So does this leave Catwoman as the running favourite for The Dark Knight Rises? As we reported earlier today, Nolan is hunting for a female lead for his film. And maybe, with The Riddler out of the picture, Catwoman is to be the villain of choice...

Have they ruled out Penguin?

I just got all 4 batmans (2xKeaton & 2xBale) through the post boosting my DVD classics collection  Tomato Slayer!

The only film I've ever walked out of in the cinema was the one with Mr Freeze in it, even I don't love Arnie that much

Yep for sure although I would of thought there would be another villain as well.

Not in 3D either. Thank god for that!

Penguin and Catwoman were in the same flick - both would be good. I like the way that Nolan throws an plausible angle on the last two films, even though they're completely farfetched.

Catwoman will be very VERY sexy.

There was talk going around a while back that Cher was in the frame for playing catwoman.... Nolan wanted to go for the complete opposite to how she had been portrayed before. More of a villan in their twilight years....

Cher can fuck off. I literally would rather they brought in Terry Wogan to play the joker. (I hate that cunt too)

Hahaha, all I ask is they don't fuck it up.
I thought the start of the second one was one of the best starts to any film ever - its on a par with Mad Max 2.

But they can easily fuck this one up by casting someone who isn't able to take character dark enough. Cher won't be able to do that. Whitney Housten could if they took her crack away for 5 mintues...

Most of the rumour mill seems to be centered around Hush or Bane being in it. Hush would be a very good choice.

Looking forward to the Green Lantern film over this TBH.

the quality of Martin Campbells films varies so wildy (goldeneye is great, Vertical limit is shit and has Chris O'Donnell in it) that i i need to be convinced he is doing it justice before i get excited.

Noloan however is on a roll and has been since the first Batman he did

No. It was created from two stories actually.. The white knight refered to Harvey Dent who obviously turned "to the dark side" as 2Face

Batman: What did you do?
The Joker: I took Gotham's white knight and I brought him down to our level. It wasn't hard. You see, madness, as you know, is like gravity. All it takes is a little push!

"The good people of the website io9.com have been putting in a lot of legwork on the subject and have come across a recent tip that leads them to believe that Clayface will indeed be Nolan's choice.

According to the website, producers of "The Dark Knight Rises" have begun holding auditions for the part of Julie Madison (actresses listed as having auditioned include Kacie Thomas and Vera Farmiga). The website also makes a Clayface connection by pointing out that, while the character has ties to Batman, her comic book history has the young woman starring in the remake of a fictional classic horror movie, 'The Terror,' which previously starred Basil Karlo.

Who is Basil Karlo and why is this important, you ask?

In the Batman comic book series, Karlo becomes enraged when he learns that 'The Terror' is being remade and goes on a crime and murder spree donning the mask of the villain from the film, Clayface.

If the character of Julie Madison is indeed cast for "The Dark Knight Rises," it is a very good chance that there could also be the inclusion of Clayface in Nolan's third film."

Batman has been known as The Dark Knight for years! He was previously The Caped Crusader during the more camp era of the 60s and early 70s but then was known as The Dark Knight when the comics became darker in the late 70s and 80s.

I'm not saying Batman ISN'T a dark knight  Doh!

They obviously played on the title because it featured two stories! I realise the Dark Knight predominately means Batman, it's obvious. But it was also the fall of Harvey Dent (from a white knight) probably the reason why people were jumping to conclusions when the name of the third film was released..

How can you base that on an interview that was written the same year Dark Knight came out.  Doh!

Batman has been known as The Dark Knight for years! He was previously The Caped Crusader during the more camp era of the 60s and early 70s but then was known as The Dark Knight when the comics became darker in the late 70s and 80s.

Face it, Sarah. YOU'RE WRONG.
Someone has some Daddy issues...

My dad is dead.  Two Thumbs
Oh. Any issues about that?

Nope. Happened 15 years ago.
Good, that would be a long time to drag issues around.

Back on topic, so basically, they're keeping it quiet, but we all know that it's just going to be 2Face?

I'm not saying Batman ISN'T a dark knight  Doh!

They obviously played on the title because it featured two stories! I realise the Dark Knight predominately means Batman, it's obvious. But it was also the fall of Harvey Dent (from a white knight) probably the reason why people were jumping to conclusions when the name of the third film was released..

You're like some actual geek boy, foof.

I bet you've got a batgirl costume and everything at home....

Actually that might be kind of  Perv, mmmhmmm, yummy *rubs hands*

Did you see Sam from WOC dressed as Batgirl the other night? It certainly flushes any super hero fantasies down the drain.
