I love the snow but it is a major fucking annoyance right now. I was meant to move into my new house two days ago and so far it is still empty because the guy driving the van has to go to Surrey first and that at the moment is impossible. Now we just have to hope there is a window between now and the next snowfall otherwise we're screwed for another week. And my sister has to get back to uni in Brighton on monday to hand in two 4000 word essays which now seems unlikely. Still, got to make a snow cat so can't complain!

Whoa!! This is real! The interesting point is the big cities which are just a sludgy grey. Bristol gets away with a mere smear but brum and manchester suffer badly from greyness, Snow just doesn't stand a chance in cities.

It's snowed on Burnham-On-Sea (Weston-Super-Mare direction I think ) half hour ago, according to a colleague who's working from home. Just a heads-up.

Some proper dutty sleety slush action on the go now. I've just got home and it was pretty damp and nasty outside. Also had a rather scary sideways incident in my car earlier. I thought I was being pretty slow and careful as I came round the corner and the car just lost grip on all the slush and started sliding towards a parked transit van... I really thought I was at least gonna f*ck a side panel if not worse, but then luckily it miraculously regained grip and stopped skidding.

Clifton is hilarious at the moment, the snow is about as bad as other areas of Bristol, but with the added Cliftonite bad drivers. Car crashes every few mintues at the moment. Commedations go to the Audi driver just outside The Mall, who managed to go sidewards on an UPHILL gradient and managed to take out a big snowman in the park. Also notable, is the driver (BMW i think) who tried to go uphill just past the Avon Gorge, only to pirouette downhill into another car, and another BMW driver who did a double pirouette turning off Sion Hill to get to Royal York, only to go into another car.

It's proper mental to drive in to be fair. Looks ok, but then the slush does wierd things, particularly as there's still a bit of ice under it in places. You can't really tell which bits of the road are ok and which are like an Ice rink... I was bricking myself earlier after my near miss tbh. Almost contemplated leaving my car on the main road and walking, but I was worried it would get towed in the morning! Just managed to get it to a safe spot and park up luckily.

Almost just killed myself driving home..certain spots I just had no control whatsoever Luckily its gone 1 in the morning so the roads are dead but certain hills took me forever to get over and at one point contemplated leaving my car parked up and walking as I almost didn't make it up one street..If the snow carries on there's no way Im driving tomorrow, which is a problem because there's things I need to do

To be fair, I understand the plight of drivers, but the events in Clfiton have been caused by nothing other than proper grade-A belm-o-thons. Driving too fast + 5% gradients or more on sheet ice = FAIL Apparently a friend just saw some try to evade a road closed sign Granby Hill, only to hit sheet ice and go sidewards into a bollard Oh, and I haven't seen one person abide to the second gear, low revs rule yet.

roads are fun. proper loling at the people who cant drive and amount abanonded crashed cars only issue ive had was last night driving home bout 2.30am the motorway was covered i snow so couldnt ping home! just drove bout 40-50mph and no issues at all. again this morning for work left at 7am, worst was locally about 2" the roads were all merged with the pavements with snow but most places barely 1" if that, town is fine on the roads, like 1cm if there this morning no issues in that its naff all lol! the slush is unpredictable, but you just drive sensible n slow! your driving on snow, not a dry road init

BMW driver Driving in Westbury in the December snow there were two massive traffic jams all the way back to Cribbs, at the front of each was a rear-wheel drive BMW unable to climb the hill.
