if there's one thing you can say about Kanye, it's that his voice and tone are never boring.
Not to my ears, but then it's all personal taste. I think it's probably a case that I've heard many more MCs who came before him that I think were much better and he's brought nothing new in subject matter or flow. Are you insinuating I came upon hip hop because of Kanye?? That's written as if to say "Well, I listened to Hip Hop before you, so therefore I've a better preposition to judge"... Songs like Jesus Walks and Through the Wire for instance are things that, as far as I know, have never really been touched upon, particularly in terms of mainstream hip hop... no one ever bigged up their (albeit short) college educations... I could go on. IMO, it's not about better, it's about coming along at a specific time and being refreshing and unashamed of what you are... which, to me, is dope! i hate hate hate jesus walks! you have no understanding how much i hate that song!

Rapper KANYE WEST is turning his back on the genre that made him famous - because hip-hop is becoming too much of a "cliche" for the star. The stronger hitmaker has opted for a new sound on his latest record, 808s and Heartbreak, singing on the tracks instead of rapping. West claims his new music has created a new genre, labelling it "pop art", and is adamant that he will not go back to his previous style because he wants to cement his place in musical history. He says, "This is not hip-hop music. Taking a sample, looping it and doing all that 'throw your hands up in the sky' thing has become such a cliche. Hip-hop is over for me. I sing, not rap, on this album. I now want to be grouped among those musicians you see in those old black-and-white photos - the Rolling Stones, Jimi Hendrix, the Beatles. And I'm not going to get there by doing just another rap album full of samples. "I've had to create a whole new musical genre to describe what I'm doing now and I'm calling it 'pop-art' - which is not to be confused with the visual art movement." "I am the voice of my generation"If auto-tune is the voice of the generation, then yes, yes you are Kanye... http://sneakychucknorris.info/?__pro...WMuY29tL25ld3M... This is why Kanye can go fuck himself with a rusty ratchet

I still rate all his hip hop music and kind of undecided about 808's... Doesn't do much for me really. He does have a point about the whole sampling cliche deal but he could just, you know, not sample bait tunes so much...

I thought the cliche he's talking about pretty much died in the 90s. So to say it's a cliche is stating the obvious, only he's more than ten years late, and yet by saying that he still thinks he's breaking new ground. Kanye West (i hate even typing his fucking name) will erode any credibility his listeners have and turn them all into gayers. Let it go man, just let it go...

It's been a long time, there have been many threads, on many topics, most of which are beyond the realms of encyclopedia britannica, some; entirely incomprehensible, some; utterly unspeakable! But now, at last, I have found it. That golden quote! It has been an epic journey, to the very depths of my soul and back, across all far flung corners of the world where Hijackers log on and chart the very limits of their collective existence.. and now afterall, Pins, I can finally rest my bones and say... sigged!
