Also, if you like the idea of touchscreens for controlling your ship you can use this program to use your phone/tablet as a control panel: http://power-grid.roccat.org/en/Home/

I am addicted to Elite Dangerous!
First proper session last night, I think likewise. Haven't been that immersed in a game for ages, went to bed and when trying to sleep was just flying through space. I haven't even had my thrustmaster HOTAS delivered yet, just playing on a Xbox gamepad. I really recommend Voice Attack with the Elite voice pack, I barely even touch the keyboard. Being able to speak to your ship "Full power to weapons", "Deploy landing gear" etc is actually amazing. Parts for my EDtracker arrived today, can't wait to build that and get real life headlook in game. I'm probably gonna stay in solo until my flight stick arrives, but feel free to add: Whagwan I am about 25 hours deep now in Open Play, just got a Cobra. Have added you. I think my wife will leave me if i start talking to my imaginary spaceship so not getting involved with voice commands! got the buttons mapped to my stick and the number pad on my keyboard and it works well for me. see you in space!

So I finally picked up Far Cry 4. It's pretty awesome so far. Enjoying it even more than FC3 I reckon. It's making my rig sound like a hair dryer with everything maxed at 1440p though!

I found it an enjoyable game, but it wasn't too different to FC3. Still good fun though.

I thought you had an nvidia card? Yeah got 2 x 670 in SLI. It is running great, but getting a bit hot. I am used to total silence from the PC when I am working, so I really notice it when the fans spin up. The case fans are silent, the GPU fans are most definitely not.

So not really getting very hot. I have adjusted the curve and it seems much better. Cheers. No fan on the side panel because I have a window. Thinking about putting the normal panel back on now that the novelty has worn off.

140mm intake fan. Makes the world of difference when hammering the GPUs. You'll find you can max out the case fan when needed. I use an analogue fan control dial to control mine so when the gfx card start huffing and puffing I turn them up until i can just about hear them. The gpu fans then spin down after 20mis and I can dial down the case fans. Scratch a little mark on the dials, job done. I used to have a comfort zone of a maximum of 79C under heavy load on a warm day. Now I have a 970 I have adjusted my expectations to 69C. At that point I have to put up with whatever fan noise is necessary to stop it going higher.

Starting to enjoy Elite Dangerous a lot more since I worked out what the fuck I'm supposed to be doing. Yeah I got off to a slow start too. Found a good trade route (800 credits per ton each way, one jump, stations only 29 Ls and 132 Ls from their stars/jump points) and have just been grinding space truckin' so I can buy a Python and wreck shit up. I have been noting down the names of all the fuckers that have blown me up, and I am basically going to go on a revenge mission across the galaxy.

I am currently working through Alien:Isolation, which is slow and steady but a good game. Although I do tend to spend a bit too much time in a locker or under a desk, it isn't getting in the way of the game. Some good jump-out-of-your-skin stuff and atmosphere though. Not one for the CoD people.
Just started Grim Fandango and have the re-done (again) Resident Evil awaiting me too.

Pretty much. That's pre rendered stuff so its not quite being done in real time (think of the opening boat scene in witcher2) Its fucked though. No single player campaign although they are talking about missions which I guess means no real connecting story other than star wars lore. NO SPACE BATTLES! NO DEATH STAR! unless its included in over priced DLC. EA and DICE have made a very nice game and they are going to make people pay dearly for it.

It also helps the actual game is top notch.

GTA V is on my shopping list, but I keep getting distracted with other stuff. It will be my next purchase though.
As for Star Wars, I saw some negative stuff about it, but I haven't read anything official yet about what it exactly entails. Some complaints about there being no Jedi class, but it sounds much like the last one where the bonus is unlocked for a limited time at a certain point in the game, although there were no firm details on what they were.

I have just read this: Though Battlefront won't have a single player campaign, it'll have a variety of missions and crafted challenges - available online or offline - designed around key moments from the films. "It's scenes like them," says Bach. "We can't hope that the players will recreate the [actual] battle exactly, so this is more like recreating the idea of the battle, or the battle next to the battle." Without playing it, I'm not sure how bothered I am about the lack of story. It sounds more like a racing game, which don't really have a story line, just different tracks and cars and having played a lot of Star Wars games, many of them have bland plot lines anyway. I just play for the universe aesthetic

Batman Arkham City is great. Looks good and has a good plot line. The Batmobile is a bit too close to Wipeout in handling, but it has a nice varied use. Some of the sub-missions are repetitive, but I really enjoyed the game and it does look amazing.
I have borrowed Witcher 3 from a friend, which feels such a step back from Batman. I played about an hour of it, but I have no enthusiasm to pick it up again it is so clunky and slow.

Recently played Dying Light - Dying shite. Not horrendous, just very little of interest or to recommend.
Currently playing Assassin's Creed 4, which is much like 3 and not really that good either. Sailing around is not very interesting.
I also have the new Transformers Devastation game, which is styled on the G1 era and is a button masher, but looks great.

I really want to like this. I;m old enough to appreciate the aesthetic but too old for the game play. Have only given it a couple of 20minute romps so it might grow on me. :spurt:base building and exploration (apparently there's a main story) and just cause 3

Beautiful. Challenging. No idea what's going on or how to play or what i'm doing. but just figuring out travel is fun in itself. Too early to comment. But from the random bumping into things and floating around, it's pretty cool. Could greatly do with a tl;dr of the entire game. Can we meet in space? UPDATE: currently floating round in space as i've run out of fuel to do any hyper jumps. Nearest station is about a light year away.

Once your ship is maxxed out its boring. I enjoyed getting that far AC3 was pretty bad and the whole series has been a backward step after AC2. I'm not completely fed up with AC4 yet, but I did vow to turn my back on the series after 3, but it was cheap and I was in need of something better than Dying Light. Transformers looks like it will be a bit boring to play, but I'll stick with it once I get off AC4.

Have you looked up the Fuel Rats? A bit advanced to me. I ended up blowing up somehow. Now can get to other stars, within system, but can't seem to get any missions. I'll probably give in and RTFM next week.

I got it in a sale but never really got into it. I might spin it up in a minute. When its greatness sunk in, was when I was on the edge of the map, far from the beaten track, where few people would ever venture, and I find details that people took time to put in. Almost no one would find them, but they were there. Astonishing levels of detail. Oh, and every single quest is different. No "fetch me 5 wolf pelts" crap; they all had some kind of story to them. Utterly brilliant.

I struggled with the controls...they didn't seem very intuitive to me.
Although in all likelihood, it was probably an issue with me not the game.

Wait, are you telling me 75% of the current Hijack crew don't play Witcher 3??
WTF?
This is hands down the greatest RPG ever made!
I have to admit I was confused for the first few levels, but after about 20 minutes, the glory is revealed
