Hello, I'm Ruth and I'm a Chef and I have PHat in RAVE from the University of Gurn . Love Jungle, Old hardcore sound,JTek, Crazy nasty ameny breaks, Fat Subrumblin' Basslines, Dub.. soul and most roots stuff really, really love Eryka Badu and Jill Scott - both have a class style. Over the years have a got a little bit more into Techno, but guess thats the Manchester and Northern influence, having lived up round them parts for a bit, and being deprived of any Bristolian Jungle. From Bristol, grew up here and went to school here and now I'm back and looking for big PHHat raves wherever I can find em!! Mucho's loves to you's...

Hey, Just moved to Bristol, and so far having an awesome time. Having to commute to Exeter for my job mid-week still, but great atmosphere here in the evening at at the weekend. Very excited about the music scene and local promoters. Already seen Oneohtrix Point Never, and having popped up for Yellow Swans and Merzbow over the last couple of year I'm looking forward to future gigs. Making noise/drone as Stellar Mass - http://stellarmass.bandcamp.com/ and field recording - www.binauraldiaries.co.uk Done a bit of research into sound art scene in Bristol but not much has come up. Anyone interested in field recordings and mutant audio get in touch. Interesting forums... diverse stuff.

My names Bert and I'm an old raver who is back in town after a few years living in that London. Having been semi-detached from music for a while following becoming a daddy for the first time I'm now starting to get back into new stuff; I was bought-up on classic house, breaks, and (my first true-love) free-party acid techno, but currently I am loving the j-tek stuff, the Dubchasm remix album from last year, and I reckon Buggsy is going to be huge (but then I think 'Axiom' by Durrty Goodz is the best record of the last five years, so was always going to love Buggsy...) I'm involved in the production of a novel about the free-party scene and what it feels like to be part of a crew that party together, which is due out later this month - if I have got things set up right there should be more info in my sig...
Anyway, this seems like an interesting place...

Spannered Books is a new small-press from Bristol. Our first release is 'SPANNERED' by Bert Random, a thousand-mile-an-hour rush through the dark and grimy corners of free-party culture, due out in June 2011. It's a book about munters, for munters, by munters. Other releases coming in the next year include a book about Castlemorton festival, and a collection from a very talented local photographer. www.spanneredbooks.com

Hi! Hello! Ar!! I have posted in this forum before but I was not really sure to go to Bristol, and now, my plane flies there 20th July. Me and my girlfriend (about 20yo) are going to go to Bristol this summer from 20th July to 10th September, to have a great summer, different and maybe earn some money!! We like music and raves (dnb, dubstep, hardtek, breakcore, fidget, bassline, punk...) and if someone can help us there, places to go, people to meet or things to do. Thanks to everybody! :DDDDDDDDD

I have been looking for a good Bristol forum for a while so I'm quite glad I stumbled across this one. I've been making 'kinda dance music' for a bit now, but I seem to be having a few problems, the main one is the big Dubstep scene in Bristol, it seems to swallow up every available space that I can hear at the moment. Which for some people I can imagine is a blessing, though for me it's proving to be a little inconvenience as the stuff I'm making is not exactly the kind of stuff you would hear in these sorts of places. Any tips or advice of an alternative outlet for a more 'Prog-House/Electro'? ... If you would like to hear anything I have been making, most of it is on Soundcloud and all other relevent sites etc...

Post them in the main or the tunes forum, you'll get more response there (possibly).
First track is like old Acid House. The bass line isn't prominent enough, the kick overpowers in the low end, possibly too much verb on the rimshot, hats could be louder and more high end applied to the EQ on them. The track itself needs a bit more direction, but it is a reasonable start. I hope that helps.
Chic Cheer vs Dizzee - Hmm, not too sure.. but mainly as I am a fan of the first track, but not the latter.

You know what, thats my first honest bit of advice from somebody that doesn't just go "Ohh my god, mate. Thats amazing" Really nice to actually get some helpful advice like that, thank you. I think its time to invest in some actual decent speakers instead of £10 in-ear headphones.

10 posts in, figured I'd say hello. Me and the missus are moving to Bristol at the end of this month. House is secured, just need a job now. No pressure. I run Brap.FM, I DJ here and there and sometimes I attempt to write a tune. Our new gaff has a small room I'm planning to studioarize as soon as I can so I can concentrate on knocking out at least some half decent rerubs. Have been in Brighton for most of my life and am super fucking excited about living out the rest of my days in this fine city. Until I win the lottery, then I'm fucking off to the Moon.

Hey my name is Nigel Gardner, My Indie rock band recently made an Album with Supergrass' Gaz Coombes, but I'm now I'm trying to produce some guitar based hip hop/rock here in Bristol. I have been working with lots of different musicians on my new project "Go Mosquito". (check out www.myspace.com/gomosquito) But a friend of mine pointed out this site as I really am looking for good MC's to put some Raps down on a few tracks of mine. Please let me know if your interested - no time wasters please, I waste enough as it is! Thank you. Nigel

Hi all,
My name is Rich, go by the dj name of AlexPeck, I have just started to get heavily into djing. I specialise in high energy dnb, electro and filthy beats. I recently dj'd at The Elbow Room following my birthday celebrations at the same venue and went down really well
My USP is that I don't drink and at the moment am just looking for exposure so will do gigs for free or just a coke or two.
Interested? Then message me on here.

Hi Tom here, moved to Bristol about 9 months ago from high Wycombe. Loving it so far. I play Baritone sax and am still looking for a project to really excite me. I also collect and DJ when I get the chance, 50s and 60s rhythm and blues / soul etc. Although I've not had much spare cash to buy records recently Here are a couple of my mixes to date: http://www.mixcloud.com/tom-bussey/hard-times-vol1/http://www.iconscious.co.uk/2010/02/50s60s-rb-mix-from-tom-bussey/Hope you enjoy! I'm also looking for a cheap double room in the Bishopston/Stokes Croft/Montpelier/St Werburghs area if anyone knows anything going.

Now theeeeen. I'm Jake, recently moved all the way from Lincolnshire, (Middle East...of England that is). Currently residing in Hotwells but am looking to move somewhere more exciting as college sort of fell through . Bristol, you are just too tempting with all your goodies . Big into jazz, blues, dancehall (Saw DJ Derek a while back at The Croft, he was sicccc), African, Funk, Jungle even a bit of Japanese Folk, Calypso and Mento. I'm not too fussy. Looking to find the good crowd "TED, WHERE YOU AT", too many syndicate and O2 goers here. Right, i'm off to finish 1984. in a bizzle Brizzle.
