Hello all, my names alex, im from london, been in bristol 8mths, im studyin i.t and music tech.  my main passion is jungle/dnb, first experience being jungle mixes from a cousin when i was 8, used to play lego at the time while listening to the likes of tom n jerrry/redlight/mbeat.... still love the old stuff today, and have been dj'ing since i was 12. i like alot of the new ragga jungle, also the darker tekkier sounds like bse/calyx/tebee/noisia..... and also the breakier sounds limewax/current value/enduser/itch.... i also like liquid dnb for its musicality but not really into jump up styles unless reggae influenced..  i also like some of the more underground & experimental breakcore artists as i love not knowing whats gna come next. i was brought up on soca/calypso/reggae/ragga&dub, and listen to other music downtempo etc anthing that creates a feeling.  As im a dad now all my hobbies and musical activities have pretty much ground to a stop, but hope to get out more in this diverse city and have some memorable nights when i can! I hope to build a rig as a hobby, and do the carnival's here and notting hill for many years to come hopefully ill meet with people in bristol that know more about this than me... anyway, thats all folks!
peace

Hello,

Set up in 2008. Drawn is a collective of artists, producers and promoters who want to see innovative and original music and art spread across Bristol and the Southwest. Drawn is searching for bands, producers, DJs and artists to play and exhibit at our events, and build a scene based on collaboration rather than rivalry.
Soon, the Drawn collective will be developing as an independant recording label, and will be releasing vital music via the Internet and limited edition recordings.

Our next event is on the 8th of April.

We've posted all the info here.

http://www.hijackbristol.co.uk/board/the-forum/drawn-recordings-magazine-launch-night-and-live-music-bonanza!-this-wednesday/msg911686/#msg911686

Thanks

Ezay! I'm Ben.
I reluctantly had to move back from Bristol a few months ago after spending 3 years there.

I like booty bass, fish dinners and cheese.

I am a DJ (Foul) / Promoter / Aspiring Producer mostly into Deeper / Liquid DnB and Dubstep. I also listen to a lot of Hip Hop, Jazz and Soul and Filmscores (especially Carter Burwell!). I moved down to Bristol last year for the vibrant music scene and since then have become involved with a few things. I am currently taking the Music Production course at ATM Bristol in Hengrove, and have started a new night called CHEMISTRY @ LAB

The first night is on 20th May featuring :
Q PROJECT
LOMAX
EVESON
ADAM FORM
FOUL

The second night is planned for the 17th June. So far Mutated Form have been confirmed!

Hi all

My names Mckenzie and i've lived in bristol all my life, and am in collage. I am into all types of electronic music such as D&B, house, trance and dubstep. Personal favorite is liquid drum and bass - its gotta have some from of melody - no matter how minimal or repetitive; a beat alone and i soon loose interest.

I'd love to DJ a little, but have no money and so that wont happen for a while, but im ok just listening at the moment...

I dont go to many clubs, mainly becuase of my age, but thats no barrier... hopefully this summer will be one to remember.

Hi, I'm Tasha, and I'm looking for writers and musicians in the Bristol area to collaberate with, to produce an album of spoken word meets hip hop/rap.  I'm into all sorts of music and I'm a published poet.  You can hear my spoken word at http://en-gb.facebook.com/pages/Tasha-Claire-Spoken-Word/42918554479 if you copy and paste it as it doesn't seem from here to be a link??

Well, what I'm really looking for is a couple of guys or girls to write with, make music with (thinking Qbase or the like) and to eventually perform with.  Message me here or look for me on facebook.

Thankyou!!

Hello good people of Bristol..

Kukicha is me and whatever other musicians i decide to work with.. New to Bristol, only moved here in September. Been writing music for 15 years and involved in various sonic art projects around the country. Working on my first Kukicha album right now (10 tracks in), it's electronica/modern classical/glitch/pop so far with flute, oboe and vox.. Looking for Cello and Drummer to join me for performances and recording. Love working with video artists too, working with one at the mo.
Done a few gigs and got more coming up..
Work as a music leader and youth arts project manager in both Bristol and Wiltshire..
Have an intense love of synthesisers and generally making very weird noises..

Love tons of music from Bjork to Square Pusher to Flying Lotus to Nina Simone to The Cure etc etc...

Standard name jokes are great. Has anyone else who's called Dan never, ever been able to start a new job without every other fucking person replying to your introduction with "ah! Dan the man!"??

Its quite amusing in my case though, as I get to tell them in all honesty that my surname is actually Mann.  Pimp

I gets Danny Boy from family when they're wanting to be humourous. I get Daniel San from certain friends when they're wanting to be humourous. And Dan the man at work, similarly for trying-to-be-funny reasons. Sometimes I wonder if life would be different if I was called Nigel.

Been on here a while and never did this.

I'm the Archasm (hit the r hard!). I'm 26, moved to Bristol about 6 months ago for the second time, loving it.

I used to make music (sort of confused electronica heavily influenced by older 90's techno and the later growth of what was patronizingly called "IDM") but haven't been able to for a while as I am also a 9to5er and Open Uni student. Learning guitar in the meantime, slowly!

I'm not going to list all the music genres I could associate pleasure with, but i am very open minded and find that there is good and bad in all. I lean more towards the bassier, wonkier side of dance music now, as well as having a deep rooted love (probably from the electronica days) of the ambient and the glitchies.

Also like a lot of non-dance music, but this probably isn't the place for that type of chatter.

Looking forward to the OU being done this year (they moved the term through the summer, assholes) so that I can once again return to the music making world and share some sounds with all those who've been kind enough to share theirs on here. Also interested in the possibilities of using computer based neural networks to produce musical compositions next year.

Much respect to all the artists on here, flying the flag high for the Bristol music scene.

Peace

Pendulum eh? Don't worry, we all have shameful records in our collections.  Bad Teeth

Canne beat a bit of Chris De Burg. Doh! Will I be thrown from HMS HIJACK?

Anyway, while I'm here...

I'm Rich AKA HOBO, been signed up to HIJACK for a while but haven't taken full advantage just yet. Been kicking around Bristol for a good 5 years and I'm here for good. I'm a full-time Graphic Designer who has just started the Property of Bristol movement with a couple of other Bristol chaps ( http://www.propertyofbristol.co.uk/ ). Mixing the bass heavy delights of Dubstep... was introduce to the genre a good few years ago with one of Coki's classics 'Tortured', that was it... I'm never going back!!! All over stuff from 16 Bit, Bar 9, Trolly Snatcha, Chasing Shadows among other filth. Just picked up a couple of new Dubstep tunes from D&B's Eddie K... sick as sin! Looking to hit up all Bristol talent (whatever talent that may be) for our coming Property of Bristol events.

I salute you HIJACK.

alright people,

I'm moving to Bristol in a few weeks so somebody recommended this forum, plenty of links with the city already in terms of putting nights on and DJing but thought it was time to take that final plunge.  There's too much to tell in such a small space and I don't know where to start but good to meet you all and hopefully be a regular round these parts.  One thing I will say though is I run the Chrome Kids blog so if you haven't been on there, pop over and pay us a visit www.chromekids.com

Hellllooooooo.

I'm clearly a little bit niche compared to most people in this forum!

I'm Sara, I dance swing. I love swing, ska, jump jive, rockabilly, blues, jazz (but not the wankery that is improv or "dinner" jazz), plus many other things besides.

I attempted a minor DJ stint while trying to sort out a small swing night a little out of town, but sadly it wasn't to be. The new plan is to get Bristol swinging (in the dancing fashion, tsk!) from within, without trying to organise anything segregated that is purely a "swing dance" event. There's so much good stuff around that it makes no sense not to throw it all together, innit Cheesy

You were only hungry for some musical food
You're positively, absolutely in the mood

hey,
my name is luke,
just moved to bristol...
went out to lab last week to see boxcutter, which was a nice introduction to the bristol scene  Two Thumbs
i don't really prefer one genre to the next- if a musician speaks to me then i enjoy listening  Wink
i like dancing to dubstep, techno, electro...
i produce music and have been doing so for 7 years, using logic initially, moving on to ableton, with bit of reason, but now i use renoise, which is an awesome tracker, and a great way to produce electronic music.
some artists i like: aphex twin, otto von schirach, dmx krew, clark, bass clef, benga, squarepusher, drexciya, boxcutter, dizzee rascal, boards of canada, autechre, orbital, mike dred, lots more i'm sure, ya know how it is...
i'm gonna be putting together a live electronic trio here in briz with some very talented musicians: drums, bass and and synths.
i have tracks on myspace- hit up
http://www.myspace.com/ruralist for a listen
PM me if you do have a listen...
nice one,
lookin forward to meeting some of you at some nights out.
peace,
