Hey, I'm Simon, aka witness. I'm at BIMM Bristol, doing a Professional Diploma in Guitar; then hopefully a BA in Modern Music. I'm blue_strat on UG. Just getting into DnB - got a couple of Pendulum albums and loving it, so looking for more bands to check out Mostly into post-rock right now - Sigur Ros, Mogwai, Mono etc - and indie stuff like Oh Laura, Circa Survive, City and Colour, Minus the Bear ... So, if anyone wants a guitarist to jam with or for a project, feel free to give me a shout

Hello all, I'm Jak
I'm pretty new to forums so go easy on me. I listen and collect pretty much everything besides heavy metal and heavy pop.
mixing though, i love breaks, hip hop, dubstep, bassline & electro. And there's a time and a place for some classics too.. I love to play all-out party sets and mash ups but i can go a bit deeper and when it's called for.
I was in Birmingham for a few years and loved the scene there, i've left now and spend my time in and around Bristol (I'm a west country boy!) and Oxford. I'm really keen to play out in Bristol. I'm going to post a mix tunes and mixes forum so please have a listen if you think it's the sort of thing you might appreciate. I'll put up a tracklisting and I'd really appreciate any feedback. If any of you can point me towards the right people, I would really appreciate it. All advice welcome! If anyone knows promoters in Oxford as well who may be interested that would be good too ;)

Hello! I recently and even almost officially became a citizen of Bristol. I'm a rider on the storm with a metal heart. In other words, interested in Bristol's metal scene. I know no metal people here which means I'm skipping loads of good concerts and etc.! Would love to get some help about this :} My favourite metal is funeral doom, doom, black, death, melodic, viking and so on!!.. Also I'm a fan of good old stuff as Joy Division, The Doors, Bauhaus, Nirvana, Sisters of Mercy etc.
Hope to meet you sometime soon ;]

I started posting without doing this part but now is as good a time as any I suppose. I've lived in bristol all my life. All 19.9 years of it. My main passions are music and art. I like designing things. I like creating things, when I have a bit more time on my hands I hope to try and start to get my head around Logic and start producing which is a daunting task but something I'd love to get to grips with. I used to be a big metalhead, I heard some Pendulum tracks and that got the ball rolling really. I started looking for more drum and bass. I got a hold of Black Sun Empire and Concord Dawn. From there it just grew. Then I realised I lived in just about the best city in the world for drum and bass, I started going to some nights and discovered a whole new amazing underground world. Up until then I would go to Propaganda and various places and have an utterly average time. I thought clubbing was pretty boring until I started going to d&b and dubstep events at the likes of Clockwork and Lakota. Now I love this place even more, it's a haven of artistic and musical talent and I'm a very, very proud Bristolian. Everyone I meet that comes here from other cities always comment on how friendly people are here. It's great. Can't think of anywhere else I'd rather live, honestly. It's not just the vibes and the talent or the beautiful landscape (both natural and urban) but the love that the people that live here have for the place. I think I'm definitely rambling now so I'll wrap things up. I also recently set up the website in my signature, if you like drum & bass and live in Bristol you'll probably find it useful. So now you know a bit more about me. Sorry about the soppiness of that last part.

Pendulum eh? Don't worry, we all have shameful records in our collections. I know. Don't think I could really listen to any of it now though, most of it sounds so bad once you've learnt to appreciate 'real' d&b, as much as I hate that term.

Alrite all
I'm new to this area having lived in the midlands for most of my days. I'm in my 30's and I'm looking for decent venues in this area as I've not been clubbing for a good few years. My favourite clubs previously were Passion in coalville and Progress in Derby.
My previous favourite DJ's were John '00' fleming, John Kelly, Anne Savage, Lisa Lashes + Pin-Up, roger Sanchez and many others.
Please feel free to recommend good clubs/bars in this area as I've no idea where to go for a top night out. My ideal night out is getting wrecked and having the crack with likeminded people who just want a good time.
cheers

Hi All ,
Its great to see such a lively scene and such a busy board , i've just moved to bristol from bath. am into all sorts of electronic music and like to play about with it myself a bit when i find the time
I like to get involved with music and help make things happen , one of these things is streaming audio over the internet from live performances so that people can tune in to find out whats happening. If anyone putting on a night is interested in i can do this for a couple of tickets

I'm into al sorts of music but atm I'm loving my Drum & Bass and Dubstep! I live just outside Bristol and love going into town to enjoy the very best from the electronic world of music. I think Bristol is a great place to live, especially with the current underground music scene with favorite clubs like Lakota and Blue Mountain, same about Timbuk2!

Hi, I reckon Syndicate plays at least some of these guys occasionally. There's not really that much demand for it in Bristol compared to other types of music andthey don't usually advertise it here, Cardiff will probably have nights like this more regularly and it's not that far down the road, an old mate runs this site which may help you out http://www.dancemuzik.com/ (I was partial to a bit of '00' 10 years ago too )

Hi all, my name's Simon.
Moved to Bristol about 5 months ago from my hometown of Norwich. I'm 28, just finished a degree in Environmental Science and fancied a change of scenery. so moved to Bristol. This place has a massive appeal for me, I've been skateboarding for about 14 years, I love all trip-hop/Mowax offerings, early/mid 90's hip-hop, DnB, dubstep, breaks, and straight-up rockin' out! I've been (trying) to produce the odd bit of music here and there for the last few years, but my dissertation got in the way. I'm now starting the ATM Level 2 course this evening, and am well up for it!!
Been keeping an eye on Hijack for a while, and now that I have t'internet, I've finally pulled my finger out and joined. Glad I moved to Bristol!!
Peace.

Heya, name's Pete, 27, work in investments and pensions (fuck yea!) - have checked out Hijack for a while, but never posted :? :{ Into wubbly music, but there's a special place in my heart for death metal, jungle, general 'core, dubstep, etc suu-weeet! Have a lovely little babe now....(he's a Bob Marley fan), so that constricts my mashup days somewhat - at least he likes Bob tho! Sooo, hellooo!

This thread is for everyone on the board to introduce themselves and what they are into, and what they like about what they listen to...
Hello,
My name is Lata - I am 25 and studying for a PhD in physics here in Bristol. I am into all musics, but the dance music I like most is DnB. I also like breaks, beats, UK hip hop, trip hop, electronica, reggae, jazz, very early house and rare groove, indian music, brazilian music. Does that leave anything else? ofcourse it does
I really like deep DnB; I love Polar, Klute, Kemal, Tech Itch, Dom, TeeBee (in fact everything from Subtitles and C18) and I adore Soul:r, Hospital, edits, plus a hell of a lot of other stuff. Recently I've been getting into guitars and acoustic and folk stuffs, and also more into Indian and other Asian styles.
Come and say hi to me if you see me!
