I have been thinking this recently. What is the latest genre that no one is talking about yet, due to the fact it is so underground that only 10 people are listening to?

The new thing is Mong Core, its a blend of calming, smooth, rolling sounds over-layered with the classic exaggerated spaz sound , almost like a whale having an epileptic fit on a fukushima beach. Seriously underground shizzle.

Tbf, as soon as someone talks about it, they've sold out the scene. I just want some new music to listen to really. Something to drag me out of 1992

Someone linked to some videos recenlty of people taking the piss out various dance genres. The "it's a film sample" and the one with the trombone sample. I suspect this may be the next big thing.

I'm a fan of Ital Tek. All that cinematic electronica, really. I never really fancied Glitch Hop. I think I'm just a bit oldfashoined with my Hip Hop tastes. All nice suggestions,

Glitch hops ended up in semi brostep/beerpongcore territory. Even though its got a redonkulous name and it's inventors are a tad obsessed with IRL tumblr twitter##### etc etc, seapunk has a nice relaxed cool ravey attitude. I don't think there's a set definitions for it. Some people claimed it was french filter house with some splooshy noises whereas others are making juke type stuff with jungle breaks. Nothing groundbreaking at all but for some reason the image of it all really speaks to me. If course it's already long dead according to the uber hipsters. http://coralrecords.bandcamp.com/track/tru-luvhttp://www.youtube.com/v/H8ygkFnvTfA

I thought that Opiuo was amazing when I first heard him, then I heard the rest of his tracks and realised they all sound exactly the same. Can anyone recommend some of this stuff that doesn't have that sound?

We're only on our second release, got LOADS of goodies lined up tho, so follow us on FB or Twitter, or Soundcloud for updates. If you want similar stuff check out that Om Unit Mix I posted up there ^, He's got a project called Phillip D Kick, which is all jungle/juke hybrids, and also got another alias called Dream Continuum with Machinedrum on Planet Mu. Its good stuff

It was I. D&B pisstakes entirely as far as I'm aware. http://www.hijackbristol.co.uk/board/the-forum/it's-here/Certain glitch hop tunes sound wicked to me. If you're over a certain age you're just not supposed to like new things. It's the way. Plus it seems everything has been done/redone so many times there's nothing truly new.

both those eps are beautiful! for house heads, maya jane cole's new dj-kicks album is incredible, t.williams' 808/909/303 homage being a particular favourite. and xxxy's 'i know this (can't be love)' on his everything ep is my new eliphino's 'more than me', pure bliss

Just played with spotify and pressed the top 100 button
All gash.
I would be interested in what the demographics of spotify users are. Looking forward to something like Soundcatcher or Children of Possibility, I liked those alot.

I wouldn't ever pay attention to the most popular stuff played on Spotify, but it can be used to find and try out new music. I have friends on there that invest a lot more time than me finding new music, and I'm grateful for them sending them to my inbox regularly to have a go. I would never have heard of Summer Camp without them, and although a bit of a grower like Little Dragon, I'm now hooked. Not to mention SBTRKT who I only found from doing the Little Dragon Wildfire and being listed on there for my perusal. Sorry if these aren't your taste, but just using them as personal examples. The down side to it though is having some dick'ead mate thinking the Twin Peakes theme tune is ace and sending it to you constantly so when you just use your inbox as a playlist you suddenly have that in your ears

I would also have no idea who Grimes, Polica, Son Lux, Cloud Nothings or Beach Fossils were without Spotify. So when I saw a newspaper thing covering Grimes the other day, I could do the whole 'oh I've checked out her stuff' thing rather than feeling old and out of touch. Anything to stem the feeling of being old and out of touch these days...
