Tired: The absence of wireless streaming may disappoint some Dont want much do they! Wifi would be awesome! How mant people ACTUALLY want wireless when they buy a portable speaker? I can see why it's useful in a big dock or a large fixed speaker but something like the minirig... not really worth the cost I don't think? what do you recon?

Wouldn't bother myself. Extra cost for something thats not great plus loss of battery life. Just use the cable you lazy fucks.

Yeh, I've seen those, but having it built-in would be a response to a genuine consumer desire. It would enable you to bring out a more expensive model, expand your range and open it up to being used in different ways and with more devices and applications. Something for the later part of next year perhaps? There is certainly the internal space and battery capacity for it. Not all bluetooth chips are equal, there are some that have been specifically designed for wireless speaker applications. Nokia Licenses aptX Technology, CD-quality Audio Over Bluetooth - 3rd August 2011http://thenokiablog.com/2011/08/03/nokia-licenses-aptx-audio-technology/CSR - The market leaders in quality Bluetooth audio (That BlueTunes chip that I linked is one of their products) http://www.csr.com/products/technology/bluetoothExtra cost for something thats not great plus loss of battery life. Just use the cable you lazy fucks. The bluetooth chip that I referenced, which has been particularly designed for audio quality, allows over 10 hours of audio playback from a 180mAh 2V battery. This is very very low, relative to everything else inside the Minirig. Lazy fucks? It would take just as much 'effort' to set up the bluetooth connection, as it would to plug in a cable, except you have the benefit of not having to carry/find and use a cable. Also it would enable the use of a wider range of devices. Check out the spec http://www.spectre-online.co.uk/products/wireless/bluetooth/chip/bluetunes_rom_qfnIf anything, it would be a lazy fuck that would find it too much effort to set up the bluetooth connection.

Wouldn't it be cool to get everyone on Hijack that owns a minirig to meet up one summers day on a park a link them all together to see how loud it would be?

Awesomely quick delivery Davey. Ordered late Friday night, arrived early Tuesday morning (well maybe not awesome, but pretty good anyway)
First impressions are. Looks hot, packaged nicely. Not quite sure about the green fully charged LED. It goes green to tell you its fully charged, but goes blue/green almost immediately you disconnect charger. This is clearly normal behaviour as the blue/green indicates charge of 100-20% or whatever, but it might have been a bit more reassuring if the green light stayed until I had actually used some power. As it is the instruction not to store it fully charged seems a bit pointless since at 99% charge the LED is blue/green (exactly the same as I expect it will be at 50% charge).
I am still at work so I haven't had the opportunity to give it a proper thrashing with some audio, but what i have heard seems crystal clear and plenty loud enough to be uncomfortable when its on the passenger seat of a closed car. As I expected the bass is audible, but rather quieter than a bass-junkie like me would wish for (of course if wishes were sound systems beggars like me would be able to fit 10k of Opus rig in their pockets!). That's not a minus point though, I didn't expect a 3" speaker and a 15w amp to rupture my spleen. But I would echo the calls above for a mini-sub if you ever make one, I'd buy one in a flash.
I will be shouting the praises of this little beauty to anyone who will listen I am sure.
One other thing though, you might want to reconsider your choice of courier. I noticed the posting above about a lost delivery, but didn't expect it to be a problem as mine was delivered to my work and there is usually someone on reception to receive it. As it happened it was on my desk when I came in this morning, but I did notice that no-one had signed for it. Later on someone came in and told me that he had arrived this morning to find it sitting outside on top of the mail box (that's out on the street) and had brought it in in case it got lost. Whichever way you look at it, that isn't very secure delivery (especially since it comes in an attractively unusual round box with a large minirig logo on, I will certainly keep my eye out for any of these the postman leaves on anyone else's doorstep). The Royal Mail sure ain't what it used to be. I'm quite sure people would pay a little bit more to be sure of actually getting the thing delivered to the right place, with a signature.
Thanks anyway, I'm going to enjoy this.

OK that drive home rocked, seriously. Davey, if I had the equipment I'd have your babies.
You're alright though, I don't and I won't, but I have one of your babies and it's mine mine mine!
Now I have to work out how to pay for the second one.

Did the package have a "signed for" orange sticker with a barcode on it? All Minirigs are sent Signed for so shouldn't be left on dustbins! I'll look into couriers but I think Royal Mail is by far the cheapest and I'd like to still have faith in one of the few remaining services in our queens and countries name. A couple of people have not picked up theirs from the post office but apart from that none have yet been reported lost. Paypal does cover against lost packages I believe. Glad you love it though! Regards to the bass, I could have made it more bassy with a lower overall maximum volume. Or, I could have used a ported/passive radiator enclosure which gives more bass but you lose the tight crisp clear sound that you have now and which I believe defines the minirig. It's all about balancing the equation. Sub is in progress

Yeah it had the orange sticker, guess I should report to the local PO that their delivery monkeys aren't following the rules. Still I got mine so I'm not all that worried.
I hear what you're saying about the bass, don't take what I said as a criticism, I understand about compromise and with the benfit of another few hours of experimentation I am still more than happy with the product as is. The sound is fantastic. But yeah, I'm up for a sub when its ready. Guess you'll be announcing it on your facebook page when the time comes.
Thanks again, I really respect what you are doing.

A couple of people have not picked up theirs from the post office but apart from that none have yet been reported lost. Paypal does cover against lost packages I believe.
Some advice on this - Paypal does not provide additional insurance against lost packages, basically they will find in favour of the buyer or seller if a dispute is raised based on whether there is a signature or not. If there is a signature, the seller keeps the money, if there's no signature the money will be taken from your Paypal account and the buyer reimbursed. The same principlae will be applied when looking for compensation for lost items sent Recorded Delivery. If there is a signature the item was delivered, if there's no signature you will be compensated, though I think its to a maximum of £45. It doesn't really matter who signed for it, even if it was the postman before he left it on the doorstep - if there's a signature you won't get compensation! Same principle will apply to any courier. I'm not trying to scare you or anything, it just helps to know what the process is so you dont get caught out by it. My advice would be to check online 2 weeks after each parcel has been sent to see if there is a signature available. If there's no signature you can claim full compensation, even if the parcel was received. Think of it like you are paying for the signature, and the signatue is insured not the package. It probably wont happen much, but equally packages dont go missing much either. At least this way if things go wrong in your favour you are aware of it, so then if anything happens that may cost you in the future it should balance out.

haha brilliant. I think there is already one in Afghanistan actually... I was hoping for some interesting photos back.
Have built a few Minirig SUB prototypes.... it's AMAZING! truly rocks it down to 35Hz and sounds really hifi when with 2 Minirigs in stereo. I'll put up a pic as soon I have a pretty looking one.

sub £100... was trying to make it same price as Minirig but I want to put a large battery in it so it last as long and the larger size just costs more to make. So I think it's going to come out at £99. A bargain still I think considering it's a rechargeable 45W 6.5in subwoofer with fat battery

Maybe you could do a package with sub, two minirigs and custom 2.1 audio cable for something like £250...

How do you get the minirig's in stereo?? Can this be done with normal ones?? Was using one as a portable moniter the other day & was thinking it would be great to have another in stereo... I will definately get a sub!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
