Really enjoyed Witcher 2. Played the updated version which  improved the combat so that might have had something to do with it. As ZaToichi said the graphs are amazing, you'll need a good rig to get the best out of it though.

The gfx did help make up for the flaws.
The enhanced version could/shoud/might iron the flaws out.
The console version is going to have less sharp textures and lack tesselation and probably particles and the odd lighting thing.

STory is ok and the backdrops are cool enough but I cant 100% back the console port.

Conversely, I bought and played the Witcher 2 at launch, thought it was fantastic, lacked a bit of depth of the first one and the combat can be real tricky (all about crowd control, use of bombs, potions and signs). However, the characters are wonderfully detailed, the story line is fairly mature and well thought out, the voice acting is pretty solid as well. The complexity of the story and how it's actually meaningfully affected by the choices you make (to go so far as to completely change the second act in location, characters and story) far surpasses any other game I have seen purport meaningful choices. I personally would say it's nothing like Skyrim (save the fantasy setting) and the combat is very visceral and involving (my main complaints about Skyrim being the lack thereof). The game is so colourful and an absolute joy to watch. I am very excited about the Enhanced edition, the patch is 11gigs! And packs out what was quite a short and sparse third act.

Having seen videos of the console port I highly recommend checking it out, it looks as good as can get on the consoles. Plus the PC original had a solid control mapping for the xbox pad, so it should control really well with all the tweaks (and the devs have said they have paid atteniton to input lag).

In other news, I just got a PS3 finally! Woop, only going to play console exclusives on it, so starting on the Uncharted series. Trying to sign up to PSN and almost comically, the servers are down.

Hmmm, maybe I missed something, but it was the boss fight with that that giant tentacle thing which made me uninstall it.

You're making me feel I should give it another go

Ricorb - I got the originals of both, but the HD remakes are certainly on my list.

Zat -  that Draug fight, is that the one with the undead army commander who is that huge wooden+steel angular monstrosity, that was such a cool monster, it looked phenomenal when I fought him.

Clive - with the EE out today, it's gotta be worth a reinstall. That tentacle fight is a shame, it's nearly the only instance of QTE in the entire game, just not a great fight.

Really quite enjoyed The Walking Dead - simple but great character interaction and a genuine reason to play it several times due to the different narrative twists.

Bought the Witcher 2 and am having an odd experience with it...I agree the characters, story, voice acting and graphics are all good and am enjoying the more "mature" nature of the storyline and script. All that aside I'm finding the game quite tedious - controls are a bit shitty (really feels like a port from PC and not built for the xbox - I walk around and feel like i should be WASDing)], the combat is really hard but not that engaging and the levelling system is poor.

On the other hand I'm only in Flotsam so I guess I may get more into it but all I'm thinking right now is either playing Trials Evolution or going out to buy Max Payne 3 or Diablo 3....

And as an aside, GOG.com is quite simply awesome.

I would say so if you like that style of game.

Max Payne 3 feels like an on rails GTA game with cool cinematic elements and awesome gunplay.

Like how they have maintained it's character even through a change of setting etc.

I got Max Payne 3 and I think it's really good.

With the multiplayer, you can see how easy it's going to be to implement into GTA5. Needs to be longer though, I've not really been playing it a lot and I'm over halfway through the single player already...

Been playing the MP of Max Payne 3 for a couple of hours now.

It's amazing. It's bitten all the good bits from COD (levelling up etc) and added some Rockstar spice to it.

Just opening fools up with a shotgun while diving around corners in slow motion.

Bullet time is handled REALLY well in multiplayer.

7: part 2: Serpent Isle is the best one, but part 1 is great too and worth playing first.  Forget those that came after.  It went downhill very very quickly.  Those that came before are good but their age really shows.  The Ultima 7 games though are timeless.

Both the Underworld games are great too.

The Last of Us is all running realtime on PS3.  I don't think they announced any platforms for Watchdogs.

Last of Us - PS3 exclusive, running on PS3.
Watch Dogs - All HD formats, running on a VERY high end rig. You'll never see physics and graphics like that on a console this gen.
BEYOND: Two Souls - PS3 only. Next Quantic Dream (Heavy Rain) expedition. Should be interesting.

Some of the most boring media centre corporate hype from the big 3 conferences this year. Save for trying to get an xbox into every fucking living room ever, it was sequels as far as the eye could see.

Hopefully as videos start popping up from the the dev/publisher stalls the interesting games will emerge. Watch Dogs and Last of Us are seriously though only remotely interesting things I have seen thus far.

NON E3 stuff:

* Go buy Binding of Isaac, it's loads of fun and has a huge expansion just come out.

* Arma 2 mod Day Z is probably my game of the year.

* Arkham City is amazing, but not amazing enough for me to buy the DLC for it.

* Journey is one of the most genuinely emotionally touching games I have ever played and puts every corny cut scene that AAA devs ram down you throat to shame for this.

* I have some how found the will power to not get Diablo3 yet, will end my social life, love life and possibly career.

^^^^^^^

Hence my question about next gen.

Everything I have read states Watch Dogs was running on PS3. Seems insane. I can only imagine the game world is either tiny, or it's segmented toward mission structure.

Agreed. Although its flaws and shitty community are tearing it apart. Seems it may be getting the go ahead to be developed into a stand alone game, hopefully built around the ARMA:3 engine.

Just got Heavy Rain and MGS HD collection for my PS3. Really looking forward to checking these out.

Still hammering the Day Z mod for Arma2 and the Binding of Isaac. Still managed to avoid D3, but I fear my will power to resist is crumbling.

Been playing the MP of Max Payne 3 for a couple of hours now.

It's amazing. It's bitten all the good bits from COD (levelling up etc) and added some Rockstar spice to it.

Just opening fools up with a shotgun while diving around corners in slow motion.

Just finished the single player... this game is what the film wishes it had come close to... fu*k you wahlberg

There were some mad lagging problems to do with vehicles and the addition of melee weapons. Give it another try with 1.7.1.5.

I think the game is really beginning to shine, the lack of a starter weapon, the more aggressive walkers but the ability to lose them has started to make this game shine. It's incredibly tense in those first 20/30 minutes. I was having a blast last night. First snuck through Cherno looking for medical supplies, then north to Vyspor to fix up a mate with broken legs, we both found hatchets and made our way back to the coast. Hooked up with 11 lads off a gaming forum I'm on, got picked up in a boat we repaired, then went to base, fixed up a Landrover and went and raided a couple of towns and airfield. We lost a man to walkers, and the game spazzed out a couple of times, but it was so much fun and still tense and fast paced when the walkers start swarming.

I am incredibly excited for when this eventually gets released as a proper game.

As long as the updates keep coming for the game, I really don't see me playing anything else for a while as new features really force you to adapt and survive in new ways. I'm curious to see how they handle the bandit situation, the heart beat monitor is cool but limited in scope.

Oh, also been playing Max Payne 3 in 3D. It looks amazing, the bullet time effects and slow motion do look phenomenal when it's all kicking off, but the story... It's so heavy heanded, to the detriment of the gameplay. I'm only 3 episodes in and I reckon I've seen everything the game has to offer. It's just so annoying when you're getting into the flow of a level and cuts to a cut scene literally every 3/4 minutes. not really that fussed about finishing it right now.

That irritated me in the Uncharted 3. It is also a bit like that in Mass Effect 2 which I am currently playing, conversations can take some time but don't actually add much info sometimes.
