We are very excited about this month's Hellfire Video Club, which sees a double-bill of brain-melting Southeast Asian black-magic-based bonkersness! Headlining is THE BOXER’S OMEN (Gwai Chi Hung, 1983). Produced by the legendary Shaw Brothers (producers of nearly 1000 Kung Fu films), it predates Van Damme’s “Kickboxer” by 6 years, yet has exactly the same plot – eschewing all the martial arts scenes in favour of long and increasingly psychotropic black magic battles. With a non-stop barrage of mind-bending special effects that look like Jim Henson made them after having a massive stroke, we'll be topping this off with a helping of Indonesian black magic action circa '81, positively oozing with flying heads, mind-melting occult graphics, and very bad dubbing.
As always the Hellfire DJs will be in the bar playing some fine slabs of world-wide-weirdness to compliment the films. Hold onto your head! trailer
