What a car crash.

It is presented by an obese man called Charlie Sloth, who seems to be a kind of urban James Corden except slightly more hopeless.

Grandmaster Flash is on at the moment playing a set that would be considered too cheesy at a wedding.

He is currently playing the Pet Shop boys whilst sweating profusely and staring intently at a laptop - it is great television.

He keeps shouting 'stay with me' over and over again in an increasingly desperate voice, presumably worried about losing viewers to the Eastenders omnibus.

There is 6 hours of this..... Cry

Annie Mac now - she looks like a slightly less feminine Robert Smith.

Not sure I can take this any more.... Smashed

I hear ya.

Flash was pure torture. Such a shame. I was really expecting to hear him drop some Skrillex at one point!  Doh!

I've vented about this enough on FB. I don't like what Annie's playing but at least she's having a proper mix. My dad could scratch better than Flash.

I noticed the same thing. I watched about half of that through semi-open fingers.  Eek

Grand Master Flash was so bad it was actually almost funny - he kept shouting 'get your hands up' to an empty room.

Surely they should have got some people in to dance around a bit, then at least we could look at girls rather than a sweaty 55 year man staring at a laptop and shouting.

Annie Mac's music is sort of better, and the VJ is definitely better, but to be fair it is even less of a spectacle that Grand Master Flash, she isn't even sweating.

I am not really sure why this is on TV, and even less sure as to why I am watching it.

Annie Mac played RIP Groove which is a good look, quite enjoying her set actually  Eek

She is now sweating as well, which is important.

I think I need to go to bed.

I'll be honest I quite enjoyed Grandmaster Flash, had a bit of everything....

Not convinced of the need for dancers, can you imagine how cringy it would be
if they had  a bunch twats dancing round trying to get on camera.

Don't remember seeing anything like this on normal tele before, it's got to be better than
repeats of come dine with me and most of the other shite they have on at this time.

I get all of that, but I would just rather see people mix than try and 'host a party' that doesn't exist.

It was delivered as if everyone watching would naturally have emptied their lounge and had 40 people round.

I was sat at home in my pants.

Dunno. Great idea, poor format.

And Idris' show before about how clubbing changed the world felt like it came from the bowels of Channel 5. Eugh.

I hate him. He was an exec producer for the show, which explains why he is presenting it. Should have got Pete Tong to do it and Westwood to do the lamentable Hip-Hop one which was also presented by Idris.

Yeah I noticed that. It's blatantly his own production company. The man needs to learn how to gesticulate properly!

Was terrible. It was like The Stringer Bell show. But worse.

peak time... do you think this counts as music performance? 70-400k per hour in that case the bbc already pay a licence so they can play any music they want, channel 4 probably do too... kerching!

Don't remember seeing anything like this on normal tele before, it's got to be better than

You are too young for Hit Man and Her I guess. They usually went to a Ritzy or something but I think there are 4 occasions where they went to proper parties, first one being at the Hacienda at the height of the Acid House phase, which I didn't know had ever been done. The other 3 at the height of the Hardcore phase. Somebody posted a link to the first of those 3 on YouTube in the other thread about this.

Also, 10 years or more ago I remember going to a gig in Germany or somewhere and putting the TV on in the hotel to find a DJ playing really shit house / trance to a crowd in a TV studio.

Anyway...

Flash - WTF
Mac - Get out
A-Trak -Haven't watched much, just seemed the same as Flash with better turntablism
Eric Morillo - Reminded me of what Craig Charles looks like when he DJs but with a bit less energy. Some good stuff from what I saw, but a lot of that 'electro' nonsense too. Who was the singer that came on?
Soul II Soul - Finally some quality, loads of classics, some nice mashups, Caron Wheeler, another female MC who knew when to come in and when to shut up - Just all round great set from Jazzie B and co.
Horse Meat Disco - It was really annoying to have Sloth chatting all over Crystal Grass at the end of a fantastic set.

You need people to play to but you don't have them up in the camera, you keep them behind barriers away from the set and never have a camera looking out from the DJ booth onto them.
