Can anyone recommend emotive electronic music that doesn't in the slightest resemble house, techno or trance...not that I really even know what any of those even are.

Please listen to and enjoy my new track 'Shit War'. It's a commentary
on the shitness of war.

Completely bonkers and amazing elctro-acoustic business here:

There's two volumes, both equally good, of Piero Umilaini's electronic library outpput under his different aliases (Zalla, Moggi... etc)

This is one of the album a few of the cuts are from, which is a brilliant listen start to finish too:

Finders Keepers have begun releasing some nice electronics - try this one if you haven't heard it:

Or some Bruno Spoerri?  This LP can be had pretty cheap on discogs etc.. (features Irmin Scmidt from CAN)

This semi-recent compilation is pretty great and has lots of electronics on:

And i've been pretty obbsessed with French library synth whacko Jean-Pierre Decerf of late.  This record is boss!: http://www.discogs.com/Various-Sound/release/907607

I recognise that cover.

(tiny) little bit of info here - although it deserves waaay more than the luke-warm write up IMO.   Check the sound clip:
