I need help finding a title of a film.

The film has a girl that looks like a boy in it and its about drugs. The film goes with the seasons. So happy in the summer sad in the summer. Its pretty dark and the bloke gets his arm amputated due to injecting in the same place all the time?

Requiem for a Drea isn't a bad film. I don't think it is that depressing either.

Me and the missus watched something the other day which was pretty depressing, but I can't think what it was!

i remember someone watching the unbearable lightness of being... a friend had recommended it

by way of revenge he recommended a visit to the worlds atomic fair in brussels...

when the chap came back and said "it took ages to get to the atomic fair but it was really dull", he said "that was for the unbearable lightness of being"

it is the way that i tell them

The Road. That's fucking depressing.

Requiem has a double anal scene at the end, how can that be depressing?

Fuck yea. If I was in that situation, it'd have been suicide all the way, like his wife. But no, he wanted to go running away from cannibals and living in an underground bunker, in the dark, on old tinned food. Nobhead.

I'd found most of the film to be pretty crushingly depressing, but it really got the better of me when i realised that i was being further depressed by lesbian anal sex, i never thought that'd be possible.

I found the road to be quite a cheerful romp tho.

I challenge anyone to not be horrifically, morbidly depressed by Palindromes, that is a miserable film

The Road and Requiem for a Dream are both very depressing. I felt like I had been mentally raped by the end of Requiem.

Another film which made me wonder why I put myself through the ordeal of viewing it was Blue Valentine, starring Ryan Gosling. It's about a couple that have been together for for a while and depicts their current situation of how their relationship is falling apart but also shows how they got together and how in love they were before things started to go tits up.

We Need To Talk About Kevin wasn't quite as bad but still pretty dark, oh and Tyrannosaur was fucking brutal in one particular scene.

Requiem is a very depressing film when you first watch it - and also quite powerful. Used to be one of my favourite films....

I recommend a movie called Irreversible (its a French movie) - absolutely brilliant, and very depressing/ morbid..

The whole movie is shot in reverse chronilogical order, so you piece the story together from end to start...

http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0290673/

There is a rape scene though which is difficult to watch.. I skipped it.

Both amazing & powerful films I.m.o, both really uncomfortable to watch but have an almost physical affect on you and keep you thinking for days after..

Incendies too. Good film but massively dark & depressing

I walked into my living room with my ex, whilst my bro was watching it. I thought "I need to see all of this", she thought it was horrible. Needless to say I dumped her. Skippy bought me the DVD for Christmas last year.  Heart

Its also shot in infrasound to create nausea in the audience. I guess in an effort to negate any sexual feeling in the epic rape scene. Personally, I just saw it as a challenge...

We Need To Talk About Kevin has the most brutal sound design of any film I've ever seen. Hoovers and blenders and power sanders and alarms and engines all tweaked horribly and turned up loud, presumably to deliberately make you feel as on-edge as the main character does. I found it an ordeal just to listen to, without even giving any regard to the ridiculously dark storyline.

Requiem for a Dream is a great film. Clint Mansell on soundtrack detail always helps. Moon was also great, sound / atmosphere-wise...and also The Wrestler (both also featuring Mansell on sound).

Another movie that I have to recommend in this thread is - Happiness

http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0147612/

Ridiculously awkward, depressing and one of the darkest movies ive ever watched.

Bloody hilarious though, if you have that kind of sense of humour.

One that is not to be watched with family members, or girlfriends...

Colour purple (color as its american)  Cry  Cry  Cry

One of my all-time favourites. If I really need a good, snotty, cathartic blub it works every time, but it is also so uplifting! The ratio of misery throughout entire film : feel good ending, just can't be beat in my opinion. The book is good too.

Other GOOD weepies: My Girl, Stepmom, Carousel, We were soliders.

There's a difference between a good film that makes you emotional and just a depressing film.
