I think headline (Damon Albarn) band is going to be at the Academy. Check the Thekla as well.

"We need to work out what that means." It means you're fucked. Q. How the hell are they going to make up for this loss? A. They are not. How many Unitys do we need to pay this off? Ashton court is deadside

Ashton court is deadside innit if every club promotor in bristol devoted all its profits to ashton court every friday until next july maybe then we can have the privelage again to pay £15 to see our mates play. to be fair it was good yesterday though.

they've severley flopped it this time. its not thier fault it rained but jezus christ if the festival was in trouble last year they've fucked it this year... i wasn't gunna go anyway cos yesterday was so shit.
fuck the festival, a lot of people put on fund raiser nights and put in effort to get the festival up and running again, and they wasted money on shitty "big name" acts and a fence that was a peice of piss to climb.
at least they can't try and blame their massive losses on graffiti this year.

If Ashton court is waste could peeps donate any offerings to me to get some new kicks with

got to say...
i have not been impressed this year.
no doubt there were some good performances, but
what an awful layout, this year... also resulting in the fact it has been canx... health and safety? maby or more like its too close the grounds of the manor house and they dont want the land ruined... unlike had it been where it usually has been, im sure it would still be on, we can all get hold of wellies/asda bags on our feet.
drinks ban... resulting in lots of people getting fucked before coming in... myself included (sorry to anyone i saw!) and most people buying drinks from the bars... and littering their cups everywhere... never normally that much litter.
over policed. was no need for the amout of police that were there. waste of our money on that behalf. the search policy was ott, every bag searched ment the queing was ridiculous, and even saw them through away someones perfume because of this, becuase it looked like a gin bottle, although cleary smelt nice.
yes there was some awsome acts, and the bus service was spot on this year (even though my bus crahsed into a bmw on the way!) but the festival wasnt as good as it has been previous in my eyes, with the number limits, i couldnt help but feel that even though it was smaller this year, there were periods whenit looked quite empty. I had a good time this year, but ive had better. extremly disapointed as today was the main day i wanted to see...
will be able to get our money back? will we be seeing it back next year? no chance.
ps... why the fuck is the suspension bridge still shut?

from the ashton court site:
"Tickets will be £5 on the door and one ticket will get you into all four venues. The Lansdown will be taking voluntary donations. All proceeds from the events will go towards the Ashton Court Festival."
so right... ive paid £10+ for a ticket and need to pay a further £5 to actually see the people ive already paid for...
I appreciate what the bristol music people have done with regards to the situation... but shouldnt ashton court be doing something... maby if you have a ticket you can get into these venues?

I scabbed a lift with the fam yesterday, as my mums got a disabled pass we could apparently park really close to the site so we rolled up then a security guy asked if we had tickets, we said no as we were going to buy them on the gate, he then led us around the mulberry bush to get tickets, as the organisers didnt think of putting tickets on the disabled access entrance my stepdad had to que up with everyone else then get the tickets then we all had to drive back round to the parking section. We then were told to follow path down to get in but ended up going throught the crew and stall staff entrace as there was not other entrance near where we were parked. I didnt even get my bag searched, result! Had a big bottle of vodka and coke in there! the security staff said to my mum that they thought it was really badly organised this year. i was well looking forward to pinch and jakes today! grrrr!

Thought it was pretty good yesterday, the site seemed more like a fun fair than a festival at times, but at least it was on..... well - until today.

i went up there sometime early afternoon, and heres how it looked not too bad! not too bad again Here you can see the lake forming near the main stage The main crowd area of the main stage mud and a bit more mud they were shut down because the emergency services couldn't get rapid access to all the site areas, (fair enough, dont think they have ever had that problem on the old site!) they Will be doing refunds if you still have your tickets.Today they were asking for £5 off people or their tickets, if you did give you ticket in to get into one of the many clubs you will not be able to get a refund if you just paid a fiver you will get your 12 bucks back! cant see them getting much back from this years fest, Ashton Court

thats really sad to hear, I guess of the emergency services said that then they didnt have much choice?? But I cant help not getting how other festivals (like Glasto) can happen in what appears to be far worse conditions?
Anyway, its a real shame.

yeah in a way it kind of better that it was H & S that shut them down rather than them having to pull it, but still it rains all the time in England. how could they not have been prepared for rain!?
silly sods.

Just heard it was Bristol City Council that shut it down for health and safety reasons, the site is like a big brown pool of mud apparently http://news.bbc.co.uk/1/hi/entertainment/6762841.stm I'm sure we could have made it through! Thought it was pretty good yesterday, the site seemed more like a fun fair than a festival at times, but at least it was on..... well - until today. to be fair i had more fun running people off the road on the bumpa carts with blazey to be honest....i remember about 3 or 4 performances that i thought were actually good. The sound was pretty swag on most stages, they all seemed quieter than normal.
