Smiley is that the inner hippy talking.. well, thats a good look, helps people , helps animals (although i dont agree with the uk's love for animals over humans) and is something u enjoy.. more peeps need to do this type of thing in todays society.

No, I have no inner hippy. I just believe that thinking about and doing things calmly and rationally usually achieves a lot more than frantically trying to achieve something. That applies to everything, no just my business strategy.

Angry we all have inner hippies... fact

In the same way we all have an inner capitalist.

They didn't neccesarily start it on purpose..people seem to endow the authorities with more cunning and sense than they actually have...in general the old bill are pretty stupid and your average bobby would find it hard  to grab his own arse with both hands...

Recent history shows that their solutions to public order problems usually are worse than the problem itself..

The most striking thing is that Tesco don't just say.."oh well it's plain we are causing more problems than it is worth and we are obviously not wanted in that spot..we'll pack up and go and leave the good folks to live their lives having to go a whole 500 metres to our next store..it seems that they have an opprtunity to show some decent side to themselves...what i dislike about them is their aggressiveness and readiness to go to war with people who oppose them...god forbid they ever get a bigger chunk of the pie

one thing i know is that if you put a couple of boiled eggs in a jam jar with oil and water and put the lid on for a few weeks waht you end up with is something that is so potently smelly that to open it will make a person dry retch instantly...and if it is then put into say an old shampoo bottle a very small amount of it sprayed quietly somewhere would make that area a definite no go area for quite some time..assuming that you could ascertain where or what it was causing the stink...

Loving your smelly metaphor!  Two Thumbs

I read it more as 'spray an unwanted location with this shit if you want folk to avoid it' than a metaphor  Wink

Just a thought for those supporting the police based on their petrol bomb information...This is the police who had no contact with Iain Tomlinson and assured us that Jean Charles de Menezes was running through a station with a large rucksack.

On the night I was told that someone had walked into Tesco with a petrol bomb and threatened to set the place on fire.
That seems to be the trigger for the whole thing.

That guy has since been arrested and has pleaded guilty to having a petrol bomb.
Details are here:
http://ianbone.wordpress.com/2011/04/24/tesco-to-re-open-april-28th-details-of-two-remanded-in-custody/

"...a 20 year old former Irish traveller who had recently moved in to the Telepathic Heights squat after being evicted and/or booted out of other local squats. He pleaded guilty to possession of a petrol bomb and threatening to use it. Allegedly he went into Tesco’s and made the threat, hence the calls from Tesco security to the cops. Hence the raid. Allegedly. His lifestyle/background is described as chaotic by those who know him, he can barely read nor write. He only had a duty solicitor in court. Remanded to a crown court sentencing hearing. Could face 5 years plus. Remanded to Bristol prison."

I know this chap and the description of his life as "chaotic" is pretty fair.

So, can one presume that what with an actual resident (albeit a new one) of telepathic heights walking into tescos with a petrol bomb and the people on the roof of telepathic heights protesting against tescos the police had a good reason to believe that something big was possibly going to happen on one of the busiest drinking nights of the year?
They may have got it slightly wrong, but imagine how wrong they would have got it if the petrol bomb threat was indeed very real and on a much larger scale. If they stood back and did nothing and something did go off then there would have been major carnage....and then everyone would still be upset at the police for getting it wrong.

The definition of "resident" in this case could be a bit of an issue. The guy was removed from other squats in the area for causing problems, it's possible that the TH lot were just letting him kip on the sofa or something till he found somewhere else. (I don't know that is the case but it's possible.)

When I first hear the petrol bomb story I thought it was bullshit, I couldn't think of anyone in the protester/anarchist crowd who would even consider using one in a building with people living upstairs.
When I read that link I posted earlier I thought "oh, I forgot about him."
 Undecided
I don't think he would have gone through with it though, I think it was very much an empty threat.
I still think the police response was disproportionate and their presence escalated the issue.

There will be CCTV of the incident if it really happened, one would assume the police will have a copy of it by now and it would be released to the media fairly soon. It should be obvious from that what intentions were.

Just heard on the news that Tesco might not be reopening, they must have spent so much money on that place up until now!

If so it's an interesting example of vandalistic direct action achieving the purpose, regardless of whether it's right or wrong.

If you need any boxes id be happy to drop some to you.. I have fast realised in this last week or so this forum is a completely unbristolian shithole nowadays, yet unfortunately bristols most viewed forum..  and the opinions of of jumped up south of the river "once put  8 tunes together in an hour so call me a dj" types are all magnified for the world to see like you're anything bigger, better or more intelligent than 'a dogwalker'... most of your posts are detestful in my opinion, if you want to live somewhere  with loads of teacos can you please post on that localitys notice board and not bristols, its quite clear we're not up for a Tesco and you just detract from that. If you would like this broken down into simpler terms I could rehash a "for dummies" version for you, just a thought.

well lets hope so, just so the whole thing can die down.
However, I will try and avoid all things Stokes Croft (more so than usual) for the next few weeks as that bunch of idiots are going to be even more smug and righteous than normal!

Why stop there? Have you ever considered packing all your possessions into a box and getting as far away from bristol as possible? I hear Essex has some huge Tescos you could check out

 Laughing

shouldn't you be busy bigging yourself up on this thread: http://www.hijackbristol.co.uk/board/the-forum/champion-sound-biggups!-show-some-love!!/

Naah, that one will run itself Wink

If this was anyone else then I may respond to some of your comments. But as you're Danny Feedback, there really is no need for me to.

To be exact you should really call me 'MC' feedback.. or just danny, as thats what my friends call me.. and ill call you the name you want to be called too, minus the asterisks of course.. by the way how was it you got the name again, any similarities youd claim or should i be the one to list them??

what the bloody hell are you bollocking on about you strange little man?

Nah you shouldn't be allowed to get what you want by being a bunch of stupid cunts. If anything they should open another 2 Tesco's, one either side of the existing one, and project Tesco's adverts onto the side of Telepathic Heights 24/7.

This thread coupled with the traveller thread=most epic in hijack history...

Just heard on the news that Tesco might not be reopening, they must have spent so much money on that place up until now!

If so it's an interesting example of vandalistic direct action achieving the purpose, regardless of whether it's right or wrong.
Meeting between tesco and police et al today (tuesday) to decide the future.

Just a thought for those supporting the police based on their petrol bomb information...This is the police who had no contact with Iain Tomlinson and assured us that Jean Charles de Menezes was running through a station with a large rucksack.

The police didnt shoot him.  Wink

They better not give in. Can't let a handful of fucktards wreck a Tesco, insight a riot and get away with it.

Tesco should open up with their balls out, 2-4-1 everything, neon A-Boards and a medieval style caller screaming "Every Little Helps" at the top of his lungs.

I do agree actually, the part of me that hopes it closes is the bit the apathetic side of me that is bored of all the protesters retarded claims of conspiracy and their hypocritical take on which corporations they support. Adam and I were chatting about it and closing this tescos will set the example that the behavior on Thursday should be followed if you want to get your own way. Even if you're a minority.

That's right. He effectively shot himself by failing to return home once his visa had expired.

Bollocks it will. That store was always going to have problems regardless of the riot.
They've had 24 hour security of the fucking roof since March last year! That's not normal.

Whatever the outcome of the meeting the street party this Thursday will be interesting.

no, you're right. it's definatly not normal for an area to be so hostile towards a new business opening that they feel the need to employ such measures to ensure the safety of the building and it's staff.
And now, it turns out that they were right for expecting such a hostile reaction, because in the end, that's what they got.
Only in Stokes Fucking Croft.

And of course it will set the example. There are pockets of groups of people across the country who are equally as retarded as the rioters in Stokes Croft and they are no doubt stupid enough to be easily influenced.
