My 'fam' are pestering me to have some kind of celebration for my 30th, as opposed to my original plan of simply hating people younger then me and wondering where it all went wrong.
I'm looking for a bar or pub with a low crusty/student ratio (pretty hard along Glos road tbh) preferably with a private area/room if possible.

Any ideas ?  Smiley

Some good ideas already, thanks guys!
Another problem is that my birthday is in the middle of December, so most places are booked with xmas parties and that.

Keep 'em coming!

cafe/bar unlimited would do you nicely i think, if it's still open, quite small but you could hire the whole place for an evening i'd think

Halo is probably your best bet to be honest, but you can hire out the whole of Bar Hush.

Failing that, Cat and Wheel.

Chimp house near the golden lion? Never been in there so don't know what it's like but they definitely hire it out for parties.

I rate The Social highly. Their eggs benedict has been solely responsible for jacking up the middle-class-ness of my period of unemployment to comfortable, almost Clegg-esque, levels.

These guys are as family friendly as it gets with kids soft play areas etc. Its a cafe and they do private hire: http://www.rimandos.co.uk/index.html

Maybe a bit pap for non-sprogged adults, but could be a daytime option before a night thing.

I want my 30th there but without the kids!

To be fair, she didn't admit to not being able to operate in an NCP car park.
