Not especially - we currently hire a mere two lights to aim down onto the dance floor from the thekla balcony - light changes shape, colour/speed in time with the music but want to get more of a combination happening which can cover the whole dance floor and look cool, also need a couple of UV tubes for the backstage area as its grim at moment.
All sorts of ideas really!
what you thinking?

if this is an in house improvement, thekla has height so anything rigged high will have impact and give the floor action. i think you need <ideally> 4 moving heads up and 4 movers backstage with me providing programming<absolutely shameless self- promo>. if cost is a factor, then ideally an "all in one" that is dimmer sensitive along with motion and colour etc.would do the trick.
for the backstage area, clean the crap out first!!!  no room to roll back there......  blacklight is the goto look everywhere, maybe mix it with skintone complimenting amber so people stop using the orange paint for suntan.......   seriously, make it nice like you've done upstairs.    blacklight mixed with amber is my choice. i could price some things out depending on your comittment. i was thinking of doing an event there sometime in the future where i would bring some moving lights.

Are you from the future? Don't think so, not bashing the VJ but if they all act like you i want no part of that scene.

No offence but i think i'd rather live in the past Bad Teeth

I can say words at a thing and maybe the world will change for the better. And what happens? I'll tell ya what happens I get shot down in my prime, well not prime, not even one of my better moments actually. erm...... I'll get me coat  Huh

yo dave

so you think lighting is a part of the past......  i think it was mentioned earlier that basically quality production is quality production.  i you are doing something to accent a dance party then it shouldnt feel like a cinema

Oh yeah. on my way home from work the other day, I saw that they are reopening that shop with the graf on, on Stokes Croft, the sign they were spray painting was something along the lines of "underground music + lighting" or something, definitely involving lighting and underground music.  Looks quality.
