If you dont mind me asking...iv used logic for ahwile at uni, and tho it is great its also 700 so iv never really considered it as an option. Whats logic express like for mkaing tunes? Obviously pretty good cos i personally reckon your tunes are banging, but whats the workflow like? Are the plugins still there, and if so are they restricted in any way? and whats the deal for the soft instruments?
Iv started doing some homework on it and its feature set, and i know my mate has it on his mac book, but i wanted to hear an opinion from someone who has got proffesionall results out of it.
Its considered to be a bit of a toy (not my words mind you) so what do you do/use to get round that and get every thing club-worthy?
I guess the main thing is not the software but how you use it, iv heard wicked stuff put togther on those OEM packages you get free with soundcards.

i've had a bash on it and i find the workflow pretty awesome, some nice plugins too, but i'm a pc user so i'm stickin to ableton. dunno about the 'toy' thing cus i know of loooaaads of proffesional producers who use it.

I recently started using Cubase .. migrating from Fl Studio 5.0 ..

Here's a few remarks:

I think the automation editor is much better in cubase .. (not sure whether it has been improved in FLS 6)

The midi editor is alright .. I would say they're equally well structured and easy to use...

I got used to the simple layout of the mixer in Fl Studio .. the cubase mixer makes me go a bit  Smashed and I really miss a simple structure .. (oh well time will do the trick)

never tried side chaining in FL Studio hence not sure how to do it ..

peeps that travel and don't have a midi controller availabe are screwed with cubase - unless you have an appropriate plugin that emulates a midi keyboard using the 'typing keyboard' - point one out if you know one ..

Soundwise, Cubase ships with loads of amazing synth presets and samples .. yet, loads of people claim that it achieve a better sound than Fl Studio .. which i dont really believe as its all digital anyways .. surely .. great sounding presets get you inspired .. hence the particular sound and feel to it and the tunes written?

I'll keep using FL Studio as a VSTi Plugin in Cubase as there are still some nice feature/plugin for fl studio that I don't wanna miss .. such as the beatslicer and the sytrus fm synth  Love

happy sequencing .. erm  Embarrassed ... .   Grin
