My M-Audio soundcard works via USB, meaning it bypasses my Mac's inbuilt volume controls, yet the soundcard itself has no volume control on it. This is gash- at the moment I have to use the master volume in Logic, which obviously makes trying to set my channel levels an absolute pisstake.

Can anyone recommend a volume controller? I thought about buying a small mixing desk but even that would be overkill (and hard to find space for on my desk), all I really need is a volume knob on a wire that I can run a clean signal through.

Something like this?

Never used it so not really a recommendation, I use a mixing desk personally, you could pick up a small mixer for a bit more money.

I'd say you really need something outside of your computer to control your levels though, if your computer glitches it could spit full level audio out and blow your monitors

Cheers, that looks like the sort of thing, although a bit pricey- was hoping for something more like 15 than 50; as you say, I'm almost into mixing territory there, and the soundcard itself was only 70.

As an aside, the 'customers who bought this also bought' box at the bottom of that page is telling me to buy a Virus TI. Targeting marketing really is impressive these days  Grin
