Sound Card heeeeeelp

HeyJack, hope you're all enjoying the wonders that are 2011.

i was hoping for a word of advice from the l337 crew of hijackers you are 

I've just bought a pair of monitors (krk rokit 6inch) and i now need to buy a sound card.
however i have very little knowledge in this area and don't really have a clue where to look, or what to look for in a sound card.
i'm using quite a new imac running OS X 10
i'm looking to spend around £100 - £150.

ANY help will be VERY much appreciated

imo. Reason being is it has balanced outputs and a physical knob for the main output level going to the monitors (a.k.a. it has a panic button for when you load up some porn on the internet and don't realise your monitors are still at dubstep volumes).

edirol fa 66 is a great robust little unit, boosting a fair amount of inputs. pre amps are a bit shite but for the cost can;'t complain.

Will you be needing to record from many mics/ instruments or just mostly producing from inside your Mac?

mainly producing from inside me mac... maybe an extra input for a mic if it comes to it... if thats what you were considering?

wicked job  any in particular? i may go for the pro 14 but its 200 big ones, i've also heard good things about the saffire usb 6
still very unsure tho, think im just gunna have to bite the bullet and choose one!

Havn't used the Pro 14, but familiar with the Sapphire family of interfaces, which have always offered fantastic value for money (great DACs) - sure it will do the job just fine.

i've heard very good things and seems appropriate for my situation.
