a.k.a the loop.

who uses it?

i just tried it on a mates computer. I'm quite impressed actually. There is a certain level that you will not be able to get past, production wise, but for knocking out ideas quickly it seems cool.

I read in an interview with Skream that he is using mainly fruity. but i guess stuff must go through some post-production elsewhere.

come on then fruitycrew, share your tips etcetc.

There are plenty of people that release stuff of a high production standard in Fruity, so I'm guessing the newer versions are pretty badass. one of my mates uses fruity loops exclusively, his stuff is phat and released.

fruity loops can be very good, any wav file can be loaded up into it and manipulated, good for using Amen and Think breaks cos u can chop em up however you like.....actual fruity sounds and instruments arent up to much but the V-Station plug in can be used for all sorts.

Best thing about it is you can wire Reason in2 fruity and use Reasons synths for melodies and dirty basslines, then put it all together in fruity with any wav sounds you want.  Grin

You can also have multiple sounds and instruments going through 1 FX instead of having to have dedicated FX for every channel which saves time and patience..

ok, i've been using it a bit longer now. i still like it, but i've noticed a few limitations / annoyances.

no sidechaining compressor or facility to sidechain to a  VST compressor (i could be wrong with this though - anyone want to correct me?)

the delays are a bit rubbish -  modulation of delay time just causes it to glitch out, instead of causing lovely bendy weirdness. but this might be solved by using a VST.

automation is a bit annoying / inaccurate to use, but very quick so maybe thats a good thing.

all in all, i still think it's a good soft. i'm so impressed with the ease that you can get ideas down, and although to begin with it seems a bit simple / toylike, it actually has most of the features i need. while my ibook is still broke (the reason i started with fruity) i think my set up will be fruity + a wave editor + bootable linux distro running supercollider. plus getting my housemate off age of empires 3 so i can use his computer more often Grin

what souncard are u using? my copy gltched out a lot before i sorted out my ASIO drivers..
would def use a VST for delay.. the inbuilt fruity effects seem to be a bit shitty.

i dunno what soundcard it is (it's not my computer) but normally it's fine. it seems to be the delay line implementation on the fruity inbuilt effect. only the delayed part glitches. it's not meant to be modulated that quickly i think. so i'll try a VST. coming from using a mac i'm really looking forward to the world of free PC-only VST's!

I've been using Fruity loops for 5 years now, I stared with a really early version (1998) but got some fairly warm sounds out of it imho (check the track on myspace!)

Last year I bought a PC Laptop and use FL Studio4. I've got fairly limited tech knowledge but have managed to get some great results without using any outboard, although it would obviously benefit from some polish. I played one live set last year that got some bodies moving, which is my main aim.

I know MAC'S are in a different league and have used CUBASE, and Pro Tools in the past. But I'm sure with the right ear, a top soundcard, moniters etc you can create the good stuff! One of the dons of the minimal techno scene Jeff Samuel apparently uses Fruity loops and his stuff is beefy as fuck http://www.juno.co.uk/ppps/products/201100-01.htm also read James Cotton been using it, although he probably didn't use it for this one http://www.juno.co.uk/ppps/products/130959-01.htm&highlight=James%20Cotton.

Surely if your ideas are good, that'll shine through?
