If you have a red/white to headphone cable, red/white from master of mixer to input on laptop, surely thats the most straight forward way? What software you record onto?

Yea got one of them but then surely (and i haven't tried it yet) you've got no sound except for the crappy PC speakers.....? Please don't say thats the only way.

Go from a secondary output on your mixer, if you don't have any extra outputs, get a new mixer!!!

Maybe your amp has multiple outputs so you could route from that, or you could possibly output from your soundcard back to your amp, though this will probably give you a delay which will make cueing nigh on imposiible.

Mixer is the best option

I'm sure you could get a splitter to separate the mixer phono outs to a set of two phono outs...
