I want that more than anything else I currently want. You would be able to do some DOPE shit with that + Live.  Pimp

i wouldn't like to take the bcr on the road though. I have an edirol pcr300 of similar price and theres no carry case made for it. Its not taken too kindly to breakcore lets put it that way! ITs also been sat on in a club, dropped on the floor many times including during a set and knocked about on flights so its done alright to work at all really

the akai should have an extra cost flight case option i reckons and be a generally sturdier unit.

But then you could easily have gone to someone like Swan Flight and had a nice stucco silver case made up reasonably cheap and looked after your controller a bit better!!  Tongue Bad Teeth

http://www.futuremusic.com/news/testdrive/akai_apc40_review.html

Some positives and negatives there.

http://www.musicradar.com/gear/all/computers-software/peripherals/input-devices/midi-controllers/controllers/apc40-209196/review

Some interesting observations about postioning it and the size of it.

I've never really used Live (once I had it on demo, but couldn't see how I would use it) but as the second review sums up, if you came to live as anew user with the APC, then you would always work with it. An existing user may need to change their habits.

Have you thought about NI's Maschine? I have one and I would highly recommend it. Has a very intuitive Live template plus its a stand alone MPC style machine as well. I personally think for the same price its definitely better value for money. A real fun way of producing and performing. Plus it fits perfectly in the small flight cases from Maplin for 40.

Novation have just released a clip starter. Novation launch pad. It is 150. If you add this to another controller such as the evolution uc33e you can do everything the apc can do but for 300. probably Cheaper on ebay.

However the apc is designed for ableton so there is no need to set anything up. All the parameters are already set for every channel and every clip.

Also just a little trick to start clips on the cheap.    Try using you computer qwerty keyboard. Assign the keys to trigger the loops in the key section of ableton. nxt to the midi button on top right.

yeah i would go with novations launchpad. seems a much better ableton dedicated controller for live. campact and simple to use. i think i will be getting one for definite. will let you know how it performs.

@kinsheeva
the launchpad is also made for ableton and has a very advanced automap for the perpose

My mate just bought an APC and Ableton on a Macbook to use for live sets and says he's glad he didn't sell all his hardware after all!
