Spent today taking photos at a church at Whittington Barracks, Lichfield. It was the first time I had been there since Basic Training over ten years ago. I was covering a regional service for the commemoration of those who lost their lives in Afghanistan.

Here is a consolidated album from my time in Kabul for those that remember this thread.

Alright so far. They do eat the bumps up loads more.

Was gonna go for a 29er but the guys at the shop said i would be too small for one.

Garage and squaddies

Squaddies are not allowed out that much any more. They have a Curfew and the Military Police are pretty rigid with it.

Was all after that Green Jackets incident a few years back.

Cheers for that, will have to look into training etc for them then. Seems like it you would be rewarded for effort in training them but perhaps I should look at a more trainable dog for my first one.

Na get one! They are great. Just have to be stern with them.

Another thing i forgot to say was that when they get neutered they can get fat so regular exercise is a must.

Do you think it would be a good breed to take running? If so it will get exercised.

Yes Japser loves running he wont stop till you do. Needs to be kept on the lead for this though.

Dont run them for too long for at least a year to let their body develop.

Also another good thing is that almost all diseases have been bred out of them.

Sorry Just saw this!

He is not really mine he is my girlfriends.

He is great, amazing temperament and a great character. He does like to dig now and again but only in exposed dirt, he wont dig up grass.
Its taken 3 years to get him off the lead though. Because he is a scent hound if they get a scent his nose goes down and he is off!
They are very food orientated animals, he will do anything for food. You have to have a lot of control over them because of that.

He is very inquisitive and likes to sniff and look at everything. Great with other dogs, he sniffs the bum and if its a playful dog he will go into his chase mode and chase them barking. This is odd at first and some other dog owners dont like it. its in their nature though, they are bred to chase things and bark!

Tail is down between legs when scared/unhappy. He is a very affectionate dog, he like sleeping next to you/leaning on you. Sometimes can be stubborn though with moving him and getting him up to do stuff. We walk/feed him twice a day.

I didnt know him for the first year and a half so not sure what he was like as a puppy but the girlfriend said he was a little bit hard to train. She used cheese to train him with as it had a strong smell and he loved it.

He loves rolling on fox poop. It bloody stinks!!

any other questions just ask!

Find most pictures of him here-

Ive put in for a press pass. Nothing came of it till today when i got a random email with a photographers brief and nothing else.

they sent me no other info or e ticket.

I emailed them back and i just got chucked round a few people with gmail/icloud email address.

No one knew what was going on or could help me.

It seems very unorganised from that perspective.

Looking forward to it if they do eventually sort the pass out.
what email address did you contact? I'm waiting on tickets myself...

I filled out the press application form a while ago and got an email back from what looks like someones personal email address. I emailed the pressandpr@brisfest one after that and got confused message from another personal email. Whoever they have running that does not know whats going on.

27  General / The Forum / Re: Blackberries on: September 09, 2013, 19:58:05
I live in Stockwood, if you go down into the woods and playing fields every single bit of it is covered in brambles. The pickings are immense.

I made apple and blackberry pie and a shit load of Jam.

Top tips-

Stay away from main roads. The pollution gets into the berries.
Soak them in salty water overnight to get all bugs, maggots, weevils and other creepy crawlies out.
Don't wear shorts.

Im waiting a few weeks for the apples to get ripe.
28  General / The Forum / Re: Conscription / UK National Service on: August 31, 2013, 11:22:27

I will be interested to see what Timbalina has to say on this one

I've never seen anything that bad in the Army to effect me personally but I can imagine some stuff that people see can really fuck peoples heads up.

National service could work but there is already a fair share of dipsticks in the Army already.

Unless WW3 breaks out I wouldnt worry about anything.

37  General / The Forum / Re: Wearing a hat when you don't normally where one on: April 26, 2013, 21:15:12
Does anyone have any experience of not normally wearing a hat then suddenly wearing one?

How did you get on? What were people's thoughts?

What were your reasons or rationale of deciding to wear one?

I did for a few days the other month. A few people asked why i had started wearing one. To be honest it was sunny and kept the sun out of my eyes. the hat was also free and given to me. I would never really buy a hat.

Hope this helps.

These are used when we need some "enemy" other soldier dress up as bad guys and walk around with these.

As it is you I think this is applicable - Pics or STFU  Bad Teeth

Probably not a good idea though, think of the Daily Mail headline.

Its only used for when we are on training exercises.

Na they are locked away in the armoury. These are used when we need some "enemy" other soldier dress up as bad guys and walk around with these. makes it a bit more realistic. they have all been decommissioned.

I was looking up these out of interest the other day. How about the GoPro Hero range? I don't know anyhting about them, but they looked quite versatile.

These are ace! we have two of them in work and you can do so much with them.

anything from a POV video is probably done with one of these.

Ranting for the sake of being "that guy"

I might make a blog about my contempt for him!

You ain’t doing fuck all but living in squats/caravans and going to raves. Stop looking down on normal people for being poor or earning a living whilst being a ‘slave’. I fucking hates these cunts with a passion. Taking over warehouses and being so bloody ignorant does not make you a special sort of person. Half (probably more like 90% actually!) of these cunts are from posh backgrounds. It’s easy to live life as a total sponge when you have got cash behind you and if you’re from a less priveleged background then have some fucking respect for your self. You have no excuse.
