Whoever invented the phrase "In New Music We Trust" is  basically the culprit.

You never hear Franz Ferdinand of  The Keizer Cheifs anymore as they are all old.

But the amount they go on about Pidgeon Detectives and shit like that untill something even more bent comes along.

Its the age old story of the boy that cried wold. Not everything can be the biggest best new thing and by insisting eveything each week is your just lowering the standard and expectaions of all the poeple that listen.

mine know a limited amount about what goes on when i go out and about, as a think they may worry if they knew the full story. my gran thinks that free parties are a kind of nice youth incentive programme where we all go into the woods, set up some tents, listen to some nice music, do some whittling, drink tea, tell ghost stories, have a midnight snack and gernally have a jolly old time!

I'd go to free parties if it was like that.

tbf in the area where the party was there really isn't a lot going on. Down in the valley / forrest or further up the path where all the stinging nettles are there's lots going on - and especially in the last few weeks all the flutterbies have come out.

If your going travelling i'd go for the squidgy ones that fit inside the ear. The reason being if you find yourself on long bus journeys or noisey hostels they also double up as ear plugs.

If your going international you might get a deal at duty free at the airport.

Sony MDR EX35LP are the sort of thing i mean.

I was fortunate enough to have my mate tell my mum I had done pills. We had gone out drinking. I had a few too many and passed out on the street, my mum had to come out and get me. My mate who was steaming (so he says) then somehow got into a conversation about it with her while i had passed out in the back of the car.

^ ^  ^ i've always said Narroways decision should be respected and final.

What im saying is I dispute some of  the accusations made about the impact the party has on the area.

why cant people drive to raves in the country anymore?

because it was an extension of the St Werburghs festival so would have made little sense holding it in Westbury.
5691  General / The Forum / Re: Parties on Narroways Hill. Long post. on: July 13, 2009, 23:08:42
^  I would serisoulsy dispute the level of trampling. In reality the party was kept to the main grass bit at the top and the valley. The wooded areas towards the train tunnel and Boiling Wells were unnoticably affected. Within a few days all but fag ends and some beer bottle tops remained.

I agree if in doubt play it safe amnd like I said The Narroways Comitte's decision is final and should be respected.

But actually you do get gigs in Westonburt Arboretum, I saw UB40 feat. Maxi Priest at Petworth park. We've all been to loads of places where environmental damage from parties could / did happen. All it takes is a sensible approach to work how / if problems can be solved.

How many beach parties have you all been to?

What about Stone henge? 10,000's of people but they make sure the stones are not harmed. it is possible we know that - look at the lack of impact this years party had.

Just saying its a nature reserve not a club is a stone wall, not a rebuttle.

5693  General / The Forum / Re: Parties on Narroways Hill. Long post. on: July 13, 2009, 22:53:38
if your chief concern is the environmental impact on the area why don't you ban dogs?

I'm up there several times a week and have done so for several years and would dispute the amount of damage done from the raves. WIthout doubt the biggest problem is not the ravers its the dog walkers not picking up their mess. And frankly if I would have to see it to believe it for you to tell me other local users think an annual party is worse than the persistant dog problem.

A quick check with the Dog Warden and Environmental Health will confirm the numerous complaints fielded on my behalf. And i can confidently say no one from the Narroways trust has complained or raised this as an issue becuase both Environmental Health and the Dog Warden confirmed they had recieved no complaints.

Personally I would rather sacrifice all parties and get rid of the dog shit problem - but thats never going to happen is it.

yup. blame the ravers for their annual party. but woby tied anyone that has a go at the Middle Class eco warriors leaving their 'paquet du provence'

5695  General / The Forum / Re: housing guarantor help on: July 13, 2009, 17:53:04
This is a problem as the people who i live with will need the tennancy agreement incase they need to claim housing benefit at any point.

that's not exactly accurate. The reason a Tennancy agreement is required for housing benefit is mearly to speed the process up. it is by no means required. A letter from the landlord or letting agent stating what proportion of the rent the tennant pays and whether the house is furnished or unfurnished.

If you have the agreement they can process it straight away otherwise they may need to contact the landlord / agent.

0117 922 2300 is the number to call if you wanna confirm this with them.
