Is it the perfect antidote for someone who's grieving?

In so far that anything will, then perhaps. And not just grieving. It certainly made me think that being nice and making people happy is important even if I feel down and shitty. I'm actually quite blown away by this show.

A Bristol customer who applied for a bank loan was told by a member of staff "all vegans should be punched in the face".

The woman, who did not want to be named, had approached the bank for a loan to pay for a £400 nutritional diploma.

Her application was rejected.

You lot are a bunch of idiots. To suggest that a legit company are a bunch of backward racists because they have a listing (one of twelve thousand) for a product with a picture of a black cavewoman is beyond stupid. Apart from the fact that all 'cavemen' were most likely black as was the history of our race, Its made by an italian company, so black models were probably a rarity, and like someones already said, what black guy is gonna wear an afro?

Having grown up myself in a mix of cultures, Ive probably known more black and asian families in my time than you have probably seen on tv, why dont you welsh monkeys put your heads back up your own asses (you might see your shit more clearly) and leave the company out of it.

Oh no! I said Monkeys, and Welsh! I must be racist right?

F*ckin Idiots.

Watch out for some big tings to happen very soon on the Bristol Grime Circuit.

 OMG Death Star!!!11

A "violent and controlling" grime artist falsely imprisoned and raped four women, a court has heard.

Andy Anokye, 31, known as Solo 45, is accused of violently treating, bullying and sexually abusing his victims over a two-year period.

On the first day of his trial at Bristol Crown Court, he was described as a narcissist "who derives satisfaction and sexual pleasure from inflicting pain and suffering".

Simon Thornton was jailed for nine years on Monday after a judge heard how he used the thirteen-year-old girl as a sex object.

The court also heard that 46-year-old Thornton, Mayor of Godalming in Surrey between 2006 and 2009, told police who arrested him: 'You know I am the Mayor?'

35  General / The Forum / GDPR + Hijack = Death of Hijack? on: May 20, 2018, 16:42:08
Is Hijack covered by GDPR? I imagine it is as it's owned by a limited company.

Could users get all their posts deleted? Will the T&Cs change? So many potential questions.

Considering the very real and serious implications of it I wonder why the owner (Rit?) would even bother continuing it?

Or at least I can imagine a very serious purge. One day - soon - I can imagine it going totally offline.

It'd be interesting to know anyone's thoughts.

wobble monger

I LIKE THE TING TINGS AND I AM NOT THE LEAST BIT ASHAMED
I STOLE THEIR ALBUM OFF THE INTERNET THE OTHER DAY AND I THOUGHT IT WAS QUITE GOOD
THANKYOU

This is gold.

Kosheen were originally touted as a live drum & bass band - two of the members were producers of nondescript techstep set-filler before starting Kosheen as a way of making money out of fuckwits. Their single 'Hide U' was a crossover hit and also caned by Grooverider around the time he got a show on Radio 1 and stopped championing interesting music. It's without merit but remains by far the best thing they've ever done. They played their first gig at Ashton Court festival during which they displayed their true colours as a band who would play literally any style of music as long as their agent thought it might get signed up to appear on an advert. Their singer is one of those unpleasantly driven self-styled hippies who seem to be drawn from all corners of the globe to Bristol and the West Country. She is renowned in Bristol for turning up at free jam sessions and taking them over with her poweful yet charmless foghorn of a voice. They were personally responsible for killing Bambi's mother and all the little rabbits in Watership Down. They name their albums after endangered native populations in order to sell more records to people with confused consciences and no taste in music. They borrow elements from seemingly random styles of music (eg. "heavy" guitars, trancey acid lines, soppy breakbeats) in the most knuckleheaded and obvious way possible, using them to window dress the terrifying creative vacuum at the heart of their work. They were big around the time we started Choke and provided a suitable, if somewhat arbitrary, target for our ire at the way fashionable musical forms and other cultural signifiers are co-opted as Pavlovian buying triggers for dehumanised lifestyle whores.
41  General / The Forum / Here's a vauge as f description of a band i'm trying to find. on: March 07, 2018, 10:17:57
I was looking up Massive Attack  Pimp, and then browsed Tricky, Portishead etc..., well, just Tricky and Portishead actually.

And then I seemed to remember another band in a similar vein, possibly from Bristol or Wales and not Catatonia who had at least one reasonably successful tune back in around 2006.

I am sure they played at Attic Bar fairly soon after it re-opened in around 2006-2007. I think I remember walking past it thinking it would be good to have gone.

It might have been a band that could operate with a DJ set-set-up. Possibly with a female singer.

Any ideas?

 Slayer

• Charging cafés, concessions and ice cream vans higher rates

• Introducing advertising in parks – excluding adverts promoting tobacco, alcohol, e-cigarette, religious, political, sexual or pay-day loans

• Events run by external businesses - such as inflatables, camping, adventure golf, zorbing and car boot sales

• Introducing charges for external businesses operating in parks such as dog walkers, fitness trainers and air balloon operators.

• Holding more large scale events

• Review charges to sports facilities and other facilities in public parks

• Reduce the number of changing rooms

• Reduce the number of days Hengrove Play Park is open to five days a week – Wednesday to Sunday – all year round. Currently, over the summer months, the play area is open six days a week

• Reduce the level of maintenance on parks or parts of parks across the city where it is appropriate to do so including a reduction in grass cutting and leaf collecting

• Reduce hay cutting

• Scrap hanging baskets

• Review flower planting

• Reduced leaf collecting. The council propose to continue to collect leaves where they are likely to blow on to roads and footpaths and cause a hazard

• Shrub removal to reduce maintenance costs

• Flexible opening times for parks toilets in order to reduce out-of-hours staffing costs. “Out of hours” would be any time before 7.30am and any time after 3.00pm, seven days a week

• Remove play areas and play equipment when they are no longer safely usable and do not replace if the Council’s minimum provision standards demonstrate that there is suitable provision nearby.

• Ask community groups and businesses to manage, maintain or enhance local green spaces.

• Increase the number of pay and display parking spaces in parks, and increase the parking charges on sites that already have pay and display parking

• Make the parks service a charitable trust

Invest in your parks. Make them desirable. They should be something the community and city are immeasurably proud of. Not seen as a burden that should be cut off when things get tough and you've spunked all your money on 6 fucking thousand mobile phones and iPads! https://www.whatdotheyknow.com/request/248215/response/626368/attach/html/3/Redacted%20Copy%20of%20BCCCTN%20s.xlsx.html
