1  General / The Forum / Decent Headphones for £50 on: December 20, 2012, 08:59:08
I'm looking for a pair of half decent headphones for around the £50 mark.
They're for a Xmas present and need to be closed and with some decent bass response.

I've got a pair of HD25's and would be nice to find something similar, but obviously expecting something not quite as well built.

I had a look at the sennheiser px200 ii's

Anyone got a pair? Or can recommend anything for a similar price.
Thanks.

30  General / The Forum / Re: Simple Things Festival - Bristol - Sunday 1st May - 400 tickets on the door!!! on: May 03, 2011, 09:57:14
WOW, only just recovered....what a day!

It wasn't without teething troubles though and we did have some problems with people being unable to get into the Firestation at times...
Massive apologies to anyone that couldnt get in...

Also, the bar in the Firestation ran out of beer very early on, and the poor bar staff had to make over 10 booze runs to stock up. They cleared out all the local shops in the area!!!

An event on this level is an extremely steep learning curve, and definitely not something i'd recommend to the faint hearted.

Please bear with us though and we'll make sure all the kinks will be ironed out for next year.

Apart from that though, the day went off without a hitch, completely sold out. over 2500 people across the whole day, all the artists were incredible. personal highlights (and the ones i actually managed to watch) included Floating Points, Kutmah, Jon Hopkins and The Correspondents.

Thanks so much to everyone who came down, supported us, helped us out with this, worked as part of the team, performed or DJ'd and generally made the whole day an incredible success. It's definitely something we'll repeat next year!!!

Simple Things is a brand new one day music and visual festival presented by the people behind Colours, No Need to Shout ,Chai Wallahs, 580 Collective, Adventures in The Beetroot Field, Crack Magazine, Start the Bus and Monkey! Knife! Fight!
Situated in the heart of Bristol, the festival promises an eclectic, forward thinking lineup spread across 3 city centre venues.

Taking in a huge melting pot of genres from hip hop, electronica, funk, dubstep and everything in-between…..The event will include 5 stages including a secret location. We’ve also teamed up with festival favorites Chai Wallahs to host one of the stages and bring you the summer festival vibes early in the year.

Where?
=======================
The Old Firestation is a huge expansive project consisting of 3 main venue areas. Incorporating an ex-fire station, two police headquarters and a expansive courtyard complete with fire tower. It takes up an entire city block and is in the heart of the city centre.

Home to the renowned Invisible Circus, The space is one Bristol's most exciting and innovative venues.

The Festival also takes place in a 800 capacity secret location to be announced on the day!

Other Entertainment
=======================
In the Courtyard over the course of the day Warp Films will be showcasing some of their releases from the last few years. Popcorn at the ready.

A stage of local bands and DJs
Fear Of Fiction has been right at the front of showcasing Bristols next generation of Bands. Over the coarse of the day this stage will be hosting a range of local talent and will be headlined by Geoff Barrows (Portishead) newest project Anika.

Walkabout entertainment & games provided by Snowbombing favorites Squeaky Hill & Friends. Our resident random surrealists Squeaky Hill are back in the home town with a hilarious hold-all full of interactive idiocy and loony-tuned tomfoolery. So prepare yourself for all manner of preposterousness from the their interestingly insane itinerary!
