Still here every now and again - used to laugh at those threads back then; thinking how seriously some people took themselves and I got told off a few times by Admin for rubbing people up the wrong way.. The whole thing - "if I put that at the end of an insult then its OK.." Yeah.. OK.. Only really used this place to promote our night laugh at Scrumpy? and Zammo and see what else was going on in Bristol - I was never part of the Hijack inner circle. Now in my mid/late 40s with two almost teenage children and a respectable day job . The last night I was involved with was in 2012 and don't think I've been out since apart from a few private parties where I felt I wanted to go home and go to bed at 10PM. Social media killed Hijack, does Facebook have a calendar BTW? The smoking ban, inflated running costs of clubs and the new generation who seem not interested killed small clubs in Bristol. I hear motion is where its at these days?

Anybody on the 3 network?
Yep - Good coverage everywhere I've been. I live in the sticks and get a good signal, whereas my partner who is on EE gets nothing. Great if you use Internet on the phone all the time as they offer totally unlimited with high speeds. The capped data pan is also a good price. Customer Service is so-so; a bit robotic and they don't offer phone insurance, so if you lose or break the handset you have to buy a new one, but most home insurance policies cover it..

The view that music charts in the 60's, 70's, 80's and 90's was some mythical place of credible music is misguided at best. Whilst "thousands decided to escape mainstream culture and go to a field to find a better place", the rest of the country was getting down to Two Little Boys by Rolf Harris. Even labels like Motown were run by a svengali figure intent on mass production of pop music and chart domination. Just because you may prefer how that music sounds, doesn't mean the machine making it is any different. There is still plenty of great pop music too
Not True. labels Like Mute who had huge chart success in the 80's and 90's were not run by corporate whores would not stand a chance of making the top 10 if they were started up today.

Getting worked up over this is as dated as Cowells view that "DJs are the new rock stars". DJing in itself isn't some credible, underground sacred cow. This program is no different to D list celebrities getting paid to turn up and throw some CDs on at your local cattle-market club. It's just a logical conclusion. Times have changed - any twat can do it nowadays.
Times have changed - but do you think that they have changed for the better? When? Jus look back to the 60's late 70's 80's and 90's.... Maybe I'm just showing my age here..

I'm with instinct on this one.
There was a time when pop music had much more substance than most of the drivel played today. Pop music has become throw away and in most cases means nothing as an art form - far different to what it was 20 years ago. Yes there has always been a certain amount of rubbish in pop, but there also used to be lots of great music too.
These days most of the good stuff does not get a chance due to the violation by Cowell, his more recent predecessors and the other corporate vampires that are in control, the quality has gone and has been replaced by greed, this is evedent when these so called artists try to perfrom live.

I agree with what some people have already said, the net has changed big time in the last five or so years, due to the rise of social networking, broadband being available to almost everyone tons more things to do on line, and lots more lazy surfing by people only interested in Facebook, because of this I think all forums have had a decline in popularity.
Hijack was never and will probally never be perfect, but was and still is a dam site better than lots of forums, where the owners or moderators seem to be fascist twats and will delete any thread that does not conform, I've always loved the freedom of speech policy and that’s probably the main reason why I’ve stuck around (as well as to promote stuff I've been involved with)
I've been around since about 2004, registered in 2005, but have pretty much been a lurker and have always considered myself as an outsider probably due to the fact that there does seem to be a clique, there is the inner circle and everyone else is outside 'till a member has earned enough "rep” to be allowed in. Maybe that’s just how I see it as an outsider, my non hijack member friends have also said the same about this here forum and have been put off by this reason.
In every walk of life there will be good people and idiots and that’s what makes it what it is - there are people that really piss me off on here and there are people that I think are great, what pisses off some people amuses others, horses for courses and all that, but for my two pence I think that new people should be welcomed more, not flamed off or ignored, it just drives them away and gives this forum reputation of being a forum for the insiders only.
I had an idea years ago to start a hijack internet radio stream, where users could either pre-record shows for broadcast or present live shows to a schedule. When live shows are not happening then either old shows are re-played or an autodj kicks in. It could all be integrated in to the website and times put up when the shows are happening. I know there was something similar years ago on here where you had WTN attached to the forum, but I thinki it would work well seeing as there are many djs, promoters, artists, music lovers and lurkers here. I run a couple of internet stations myself, so it would not be hard to do, I would also be happy to run a server for this....
