For our second party of 2013, we welcome David Kennedy back to Crazylegs. One of the most unique, singular producers operating today, Pearson Sound spent much of 2012 touring the world's dance music festivals — so it's a real pleasure to be able to present him to you in a more intimate club space.

With the "Trace" EP about to drop on Aus Music, the ever-consistent Midland joins us for the third time. And we're overly excited to be flying Bloom in from Belfast for his first Bristol show — if you haven't heard last year's "Quartz" single you probably didn't read any end-of-year charts.

Our very own Hodge joins the bill ahead of his forthcoming Well Rounded EP and with his Outboxx project set to drop an album. Crump and Bristol's Varme crew complete the lineup.

Back with a bang for 2013, we welcome the return of a couple of the guests from our first ever party as a collective way back in 2010.

Mosca's star has been in rapid ascent since he last joined us, with singles on Numbers, Night Slugs and Hypercolour plus a regular show on Radio 1. Hessle co-founder Pangaea just dropped his most substantial body of work yet — the critically-acclaimed Release EP — so it's a pleasure to welcome him back to Crazylegs.

Brand new Bristol club space Exchange will play host to a stellar cast of Numbers and Crazylegs’ friends and family, plus a VERY special guest in the shape of a US house legend you haven’t seen in Bristol before – powered across two rooms by the famous Highpressure Soundsystem.

For those that don’t know – Numbers is a veteran of the Glasgow club scene, throwing sellout parties since 2003. In 2009, the Wireblock, Dress2Sweat & Stuffrecords imprints combined to form the all-conquering Numbers record label, which has released music from the likes of Jamie xx, SBTRKT, Roska & Untold, Lory D and Redinho, not to mention a couple of the defining club records of recent years in Deadboy’s “If U Want Me” and Mosca’s “Bax”.

Crazylegs 4th birthday
with Deep Down Inside
Friday 19th October
TB2 Bristol

Time to celebrate four years of Crazylegs! It's been a few months since we last did a club show in Bristol but we can't wait to get back into it. Plus we've invited four of our actual heroes to play.

In Dem 2 and Club Asylum you have two producers at the very heart of the UK garage boom in the late 90s, responsible for anthems like Destiny, Imagine and My Desire. And in Slimzee & El-B, two artists synonymous with the genre's dark later years and absolutely instrumental in the birth of grime and dubstep. Needless to say we're ridiculously excited to be welcoming legends like these to our club.

Join us at TB2 on Friday 19th October for the annual mad one. Tickets are on sale now.

There are exceptions...Wigflex for example is absolutely fucking sick and has always done whatever the fuck they like and been way ahead of anyone else. Its quite funny because usually you'll see a wigflex line up with some semi-obscure but amazing names, then 2 months later when they blow up you'll see the same line up for dollop.

lol yeah

Saturday 14th April
Take Five Cafe, 2200-0400

This one’s been ten years in the making. We bring you a trio of DJs you never thought you’d see on a lineup together in 2012. Three artists whose seminal productions set the template for three of the most vital movements in the UK’s underground: grime, bassline and funky. If you’ve never lost your mind on a dancefloor to Pulse X, Saved Soul or De Siegalizer, you’ve probably never been to a nightclub.

We’re keeping this one as intimate and special as we can – this will happen in the basement of Take Five on Stokes Croft. Just 100 tickets will go on sale on Tuesday 27th March and once they’re done, that’s it. This is a one-time chance to catch three kings of UK music in a space about the size of your bedroom. As always for an event like this, there will be strictly no guestlist and no concessions.

37  General / The Forum / Crazylegs 009: Baobinga's Breakstep Brukout on: December 08, 2011, 04:39:11

Download: http://www.mediafire.com/?p3b9kxahsajy5sv

Bristol favourite Baobinga delivers a very special studio mix today – an “influences” mix of sorts, digging deep into the crates of a period when UK dance music was at its most experimental. In his own words:

“Although it never really got the props it deserved, the music loosely known as breakstep is one of the defining influences on what I do. Chopped up drums with a slight jungle / dnb edge (without being referential to the point of parody), plenty of bass, but with the mid-range held back enough to imply darkness rather than pile the rage on with a spade, and a bit of swing and bounce to the beats to link it with the emerging dark garage and dubstep scenes. J Da Flex’s much-missed show on 1Xtra was the place for the weekly update on these bits, and one of my career highlights is the fact that J played one of my bits on his mix for John Peel’s show way back when.

Anyway, all these tunes kind of came out as garage was dying, grime was starting to move away from hype instrumentals into more MC-dominated territory, and as dubstep was still figuring out what it was supposed to sound like – ie. a time of massive musical flux. Which is sort of where we’re at right now – in a bit of a state of flux, not entirely sure where things are going to go next… So this mix is a bit of tribute to the last time things felt like this. All done on vinyl, and for some random reason on a rotary mixer, which is categorically NOT the right kind of mixer for this kind of stuff!”

38  General / The Forum / Crazylegs x Movember 2011: win a house party and guestlist for a year on: November 01, 2011, 20:57:41

Last year, we at Crazylegs embarked on the challenge of Movember, generating a formidable £444 for charity. In 2011 we want to absolutely smash that. So this year we’re opening our team to the public and we’re offering some really special prizes for the top fundraisers.

WHAT IS MOVEMBER?
If you saw any of us this time last year, you’ll know all about this! Movember is a month-long facial hair cultivation fundraiser – you grow the biggest, baddest moustache you can muster for the duration of November, and you encourage your friends to sponsor you through the Movember website. All proceeds go to prostate cancer charity programmes – last year the global campaign raised £48.5m, with nearly half a million people taking part. It’s a really worthy cause and we’re proud to support it.

THE TEAM SO FAR
So this year we’ve recruited a few of our friends to help get the ball rolling, and we’ll be posting regular photo reports for your enjoyment / absolute horror (delete as appropriate). Meet the team so far:

WHAT YOU CAN WIN
Now here’s where you come in. This is gonna be absolutely loads of fun but we’re also very serious about raising an absolute stack of cash for a good cause. So we’ve put together a whole bunch of incentives to make sure we build the biggest team we can. Here’s what you can win:

FREE DIGITAL EP FEAT. T.WILLIAMS, TRC AND MORE
Firstly, every single person that joins us in Team Crazylegs gets a free digital EP of exclusive unreleased tracks from the Crazylegs extended family. That includes bangers from T.Williams, OH91, TRC and more. A really special prize in itself, we think you’ll agree.

FREE TICKETS TO CRAZYLEGS
Secondly, each fundraiser that manages to raise £100 or more before the 26th November will win a free ticket to our party that night at Basement 45, Bristol with Girl Unit, Mickey Pearce and Walton.

FREE CRAZYLEGS HOUSE PARTY + GUESTLIST FOR A YEAR
This is the big one – the person that tops the table within Team Crazylegs (not including us!) at midnight on the 1st December wins their very own Crazylegs house party. How does it work? Easy – you give us a house and a date; we give you your very own private Crazylegs party – complete with soundsystem and secret guest DJs – anywhere within 50 miles of Bristol. For free. Simple as that. You also get to come with a friend to every Crazylegs party in 2012 for absolutely nothing.

HOW TO ENTER
Now we should make it clear that everyone is welcome to enter. If you can’t grow a ‘tache, it’s cool. You can still enter. If you’re a girl, it’s okay – you can just draw it on at the weekends (LOL). Even if you miss the start date, don’t worry – you can join our team at any point up to Monday 7th November, you’ll just be playing catchup.
But the official start date for Movember is tomorrow – that’s Tuesday 1st November. So we want to see all the crew involved in this. All the regulars. All the some-time Crazyleggers. Even if you’ve never been to Crazylegs but you listened to one of our mixes once, we want you. The main aim here is building a big team and raising money for a good cause.
Registration is now open and we’re ready for you. All you have to do is follow this link to sign up with Team Crazylegs:

Crazylegs
Saturday 26 November
Basement 45 2200-0400

This one's a heater! Back to the Basement with the hyperactive, neon-tinged R&B of man like Girl Unit, headlining Crazylegs for the first time. He's been locked away working on new material for the best part of a year and this is the first chance to hear it. Alongside him we've got the latest addition to Swamp81's roster Mickey Pearce aka Shortstuff, and all the way from Manchester, Hyperdub's Walton with a Bristol debut. Drippy ceiling time!

Hey Hijack.

We've just launched a website for Crazylegs. If you like what we do with our parties and mixes, you'll probably like the site too. On there today is an exclusive free track from local producer Artifact, with loads more exclusive content to be posted up in the buildup to our birthday bash on the 21st Oct.
