im trying to work out is volence rife or is it r is it that we are that well communicated now we hear a lot more of it?

the only advice i can give is to think about the situations you put yourself in.

17  General / The Forum / Re: New licence for Dj's using digital equipment.. l on: January 13, 2006, 13:23:19
it's all about Vinyl!!!!!

one day i may regret saying it.. but nah i don't reckon..

i hate seeing djs playing digital media.. or even cds.. i know some music is only available on cd etc but.. there's nothig like seeing a dj with a slab of vinyl..
and as for final/serato nthe mix and see how proficient etc they are.. i know half the djs that use these tools could do it if they wanted to but still. I guess

it takes away the problem of lugguing heavy vinyl around but it just takes away so much of the goodness too imo.

i dunno im happy for a mix, the digital age is here, pretty soon most media will be in digital format... its cheaper, easier to distribute and the potential for artists to make money is actually higher, were talking huge numbers of people....and if youve got some noodle you can market it yourself...

but yes vinyl rocks and i like the numark type deck with a platter that plays digital media...
18  General / The Forum / Re: New licence for Dj's using digital equipment.. l on: January 13, 2006, 12:31:59
why didnt they just extend the public licence to cover digital media? its going to be impossible to track between digital and physical surely?
19  General / The Forum / Re: New licence for Dj's using digital equipment.. l on: January 13, 2006, 10:23:15
i heard about this, and how do they enforce this?

I think 1x is a good thing it showcases a hell of a lot of stuff that would otherwise be unheardof. some of the dancehall stuff is wicked.

what do you want radio white supremacist?

Mate, you have got to be kidding me.  Doh!

I like 1xtra too for the same reasons, but if you read my post properly you see that that's clearly not the point. Calling it 'black music' is inserting a divide where there needn't be one- not only that but it's wrong anyway, trying to claim (for instance) that d'n'b is 'black music' is just silly.

read chris's post and read it again until understood.

40  General / The Forum / Re: What is it you plan to do with your one wild and precious life? on: January 10, 2006, 15:35:39
I was considering writing about this kind of thing. Thankfully, someone else has started it off for me.

What with it being a new year and all, I started thinking about the year before, and the year before that, and so on ad infinitum. And then I realised, all I have done with my life is say a lot things, but do very few of them. Don't get me wrong, I have done things. Last year I decided that I was going to go travelling for a couple of months, and so I booked a plane ticket to Berlin. From that point there was no going back, and I had to do it. I did it, and I had the time of my life. But, I should have done it earlier. For three years, I had a girlfriend. And as much as I loved her, it stopped me doing other things that I wanted to do. Then I broke up with her, and did the things I wanted to do, but not enough of them, because there was not enough time before university. So I ended up at university. Which I always wanted to do, but I don't know if it was to put off entering the "real world" for another three years or so, or because I wanted to learn more. Because you can always learn more even if you're not at university. Unless, of course, you have a soul-sucking job that does nothing for you and merely makes you depressed, and gradually turns you into one of those people who works nine to five all week, then gets wasted at the weekend, and then repeats the process.

Of course, those thoughts of drink make me think, a lot of the time I get drunk, and can't remember what I've done. And even though I know I've had fun, I can't remember what it was that was fun. Maybe it's the feeling of fun that's important rather than the actual knowledge of what you did that was fun, but I'd like to have some more memories. So, next month I am not going to drink at all. Which means I'll probably smoke more, but so it goes.

Anyway, all that was rather pointless, but then again, I am rather drunk. You only have one life. Of course, when it's over you won't know it so does it really matter?  Of course it does. So, I don't know what the point is. Do what you want. But don't upset other people. Be good. Be excellent to each other, in fact. Listen to rock 'n' roll. Listen to whatever fucking music you want, as long as it's good. Enjoy yourself. That would be the main point. Enjoy yourself.

CUE POWER BALLAD.

And listen to some fun exciting music.
I don't want to go to a drum 'n' bass night, nor a straight ahead hip hop night (as I'm fussy on both counts)
And I don't want an "alternative" night, as they are full of the wrong kind of student and suck. Quite often because of this.

Where is a good fun noise to be in?

a big bangin breakbeat night is wot u need i reckon... but its gotta be big, not boring housy breaks  Two Thumbs
