504  General / The Forum / Re: 'Eating turkey at Christmas is like nailing an egg to the cross says bishop' on: December 25, 2005, 21:53:54
I have seriously considered celebrating Easter when it should be celebrated tho, which is linked to the Jewish passover rather than something random with the moon!
Hey, so do you know when the real dates are?  That is really interesting - since the real meanings of Easter and Christmas have been destroyed from the inside by greed and capitalism, would christians decide to celebrate those dates properly on the true time, ignoring all the plastic adn remembering the humility of Jesus? I think that if I were a christian I might consider having 2 christmases - the english commercial one and the real one. Smiley

I'll find out the dates for you if you want  Two Thumbs

In actual fact only the passover meal should be observed on an anual basis as it is the only event in the Bible Jesus requested to be repeated in future  NERD ALERT!

i signed up to the dnb society in the first yr.  Made a few attempts to contact ppl to see wa gwan with it but heard nothing from them.  And that Ryan McGavock is full of bullshit.

saying somebody is full of bullshit is offensive.

Yeh fair comment, but he said he'd get back to me on a few ideas, never did, he put posters up for bands and dj's to apply to, havent seen any nights at uni yet.  But fairplay, bullshit may be a bit harsh.

549  General / The Forum / Re: drum & bass: lifestyle or attitude? on: December 05, 2005, 20:36:02

- People don’t seem to like calling themselves/being called ‘clubbers’, or talking about having a night out as ‘clubbing’. We’re not sure what to call it otherwise – what do you call it when you go to nights like Drive-By, Run or Infidelity?
- Going out on a night seems to be as much about just loving the music as it is about dancing or socialising or taking stuff (on that note: we’ve noticed that alcohol seems to be a big part of people’s nights out now, rather than drugs?)
- That ‘clubbing’/partying seems to give people an important space to be themselves and a sense of freedom.
- That people have a sense of shared community – such as valuing being inclusive.

So let us know what you think about all of this – are we getting it right? Or wrong? We’d like to interview people about their history of ‘clubbing’, what you like about it, why you do it, if it has an impact on your everyday life and if you see anything political about it. If you’d like to know more about taking part in an interview, get in touch with Sarah or Yvette via our email: partypeople@hotmail.co.uk. Anonymity and confidentiality assured!

I think like any music scene DnB has many layers to it and has a diverse history of styles and sounds and is now at an age where a deffinative DnB history can be traced back through musical history.  All of that creates DnB, be it Slammin Vinyl, Intrigue, Drive By or a free party in woods.  As such it can be appreciated in so many ways from being a music that can make a room of people go crazy to chilled out vibes accompanying some daytime tv programme.

For me DnB is my music of choice and listen to it 90% of the time but i dont feel in any way like i know enough about it.  I first heard it when i was thirteen on the coach to school and liked how different it was to other music i had heard, from its sound to the idea of raving and thousands of whistles blowing etc etc.

At the moment i feel i have a more refined taste as having listened to it more extensively.  For me going to dnb nights is about music i like, good vibes, friends, leting everything go, enjoy my music of choice with others who feel the same and feeling a deep sub bass rumble my trousers.   Smiley
