Might be a slot available this year in the Boodior again. Apparently they are looking for someone to play electro swing or some gypsy vibes. Not exactly my cuppa but if anyone out there is going anyway, plays that type of thing and fancies a set let me know.
I could manage that, send them this and get them to contact me if their interested http://www.mixcloud.com/PODGEUK/podge-swingball/Yeah man, sounds good. Fancy a Saturday or Sunday afternoon set? Any preference? I'm gona be chocker over the Saturday/Sunday already to be honest, if they need anyone for Wednesday or Thursday I can do it otherwise pass it on

General / The Forum / Bass Kitchen UK presents The Run Tingz Cru / TB2 / 2nd August

E-Tickets available here: TBC BTS Tickets here: TBC Bass Kitchen are back for the last of our summer sessions and this time we're getting our Jungle on! Two (or Cru), is usually better then one, a fact not lost on the Southwest's answer to the new school UK Jungle movement, the Run Tingz Cru. A tip-top, one-stop, Junglist boutique, the Run Tingz camp have every corner of the scene well and truly nailed… A killer production outfit, two consistently solid record labels, a clothing line and a globally recognised brand of events. Get to know: Ed (G.Tactix) and Parker (LXP) are the Reggae-roused rave veterans behind the Run Tingz operation. Two dedicated Bristolian Junglists, each armed with well over a decade of experience in the music industry, they were inspired to contribute to the scene that's given them so much as DJs over the years. Mentored by Jungle legends the Serial Killaz (Congo Natty / Ganja), they established their label in 2010 and have been turning heads ever since. Their manifesto: to create original Jungle / Drum & Bass compositions featuring some of the very best Reggae and Jungle vocalists old and new. Since their bold inception they've recruited the very best in the game. From Topcat to Tenor Fly, David Boomah to Blackout JA, Solo Banton to YT (and not forgetting their girls Lady MC and Lady Fyah), they've consistently aimed for the top and scored themselves a series of unique, original and contemporary Jungle releases. No bootlegs, no messing: Run Tingz have meant business from day one. Each of these impeccable studio creations are released through their two in-house labels: Run Tingz Recordings and Run Tingz Digital. Releases such as 'Born Inna Babylon', the Serial Killaz collaboration 'Murder Ya Sound' and 'It's a Junglist Ting' have driven the Run Tingz Cru to the top of the D&B charts, winning them rave reviews in the music press and a live appearance on BBC Introducing. More recently they've uncovered the delights of Capitol 1212's iconic 'Don Man Sound' (which earned them support from Radio 1 and Kiss FM) and recruited legendary toasters Cowboy Ras Ranger and 2Nice on 'My Sound', a next-level Jungle release featuring an original production from V Recording's Aries and Gold. Massive tracks, bold-as-brass labels and road block events to boot: Run Tingz have been delighting bass audiences with their high-impact stage shows. Previous live exploits include Glastonbury, Shambala, Glade and Electric Picnic. They're set to perform to 10'000+ people on the iconic Arcadia stage at this year's Boomtown Festival and are mainstays at St Paul's Carnival, Europe's oldest Caribbean street party. Eschewing the average D&B DJ and MC combo, their incendiary live shows have gained notoriety from as far afield as France, Poland, Spain, Czech Republic, Austria, Greece, Switzerland and Sardinia. Make no mistakes: Run Tingz Cru are playing an international game. Three years deep and now a household name in modern day Jungle, 2013 is set to see the collective up their game once again… Already a firm favourite in Bristol, London and Brighton, their nocturnal club rampages the 'Run Tingz Sessions', will add two new cities to their 2013 calendar. The Run Tingz Cru have recently been signed to the on-point Boom Agency and they've got a release schedule (with a new project set to drop on a monthly basis) that quite frankly makes 2012 look lazy! The tip-top, one-stop boutique is well on its way to becoming a global hypermarket, so hold tight… and watch your bass bins! ================= FRIDAY 2ND AUGUST ================= IN THE TUNNEL: THE RUN TINGZ CRU DR FLY, WOBBLING WOOKIE, P.O.D.G.E + DJ COMPEITION WINNER IN THE CAGE: BUTCHER, FERRYMAN, JAY P + MORE TBC ----------------------------------- DOORS OPEN AT 11PM £5 ADV, MORE ON THE DOOR Facebook - https://www.facebook.com/events/679273168766296/

Vonnegut is one of my favourite authors and I really enjoyed The Handmaid's Tale.
Just reaching the end of "Snow Crash"; absolutely incredible, it's got some flaws but in terms of a book being ridiculous fun (not 'funny', just fun) it's brilliant. And it's fantastically self-aware about how silly some of it is, I mean the main character is called "Hiro Protagonist"...
Neal Stephenson does silly well, check out Cryptonomicon, it's not Sci Fi but he does WW2 in a very Catch 22 way.

General / The Forum / Re: Getting Gigs?

As is probably said every time someone asks this it's all about legwork, gigs just aren't going to land in your lap because you put a few mixes on line. Couple of things though - Do some research. Go out to the nights you would like to play at and get to know the promoters, they are much more likely to give someone a gig if they know them rather than some random over the net. - Start your own night, a lot of nights work on gig swaps so if you can offer another promoter a chance to play at your night you are more likely to get a gig at theirs, other than that it gets your name out there.

Shit didn't know that! Culture books were amazing
Expanse series by James Corey and anything by Peter Hamilton. Commonwealth saga and Night's dawn trilogy in particular. For non space based stuff then anything by Neal Stephenson is also quality, Snow Crash is a good starter from him

Food for your Ears / The Desk / Re: BPM Tweak. Ableton?

It's easy to do but up to you how the results come out, you could quantise the track while you are at it but will loose any swing in the track. I would say just put a warp marker on the first and last beat of the track and then adjust the BPM accordingly, would use the complex warp mode as well. It would take about 2 seconds to do so happy to do it for you if you don't know Ableton

Pretty non-plused with this to be honest....doesn't really sound that different to what has gone before......... I've been religiously preaching that glitch-hop will be the next big thing for about 2 years now
As an example, please see: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Prefuse_73 ........it's been done to death.......... Well its Tippers 'wobble factor' that really hit off this current generation of 'glitch hop'. That and Nosias 'Contact' with the beggars, every man and his dog is going after that sound. Compare Edits crying over pros to Glitch Mobs latest, completely different things, but both are/were defined by the term 'Glitch hop'. Just like dubstep it's become over saturated with stupid noises, empty cans of Monster and Nu era hats at jaunty angles. Just check beatports glitch hop chart and prepare to Wouldn't put Prefuse in the same basket. Not that there isn't still some great stuff that actually sounds glitchy out there. http://enigmatiksounds.bandcamp.com/Vaethx is from brissle isn't he? Nerohop is the new Glitch Hop don't you know

I'm seriously tempted, guy has been writing some of the best glitch around for years. Not so sure about the rest of the line up though as everyone else is going to be about 12!
