Why did he do it though? what did he have to gain from it?
Its hard to say. In many ways my fluffy liberal side says "yeah man fight the power!" but at the same time, he's a young man who in a sense has been radicalized into taking a course of action he wouldn't have done without the influence of the likes of Julian Assange spreading the message that information transparency justifies espionage. Idealistically I agree with that. I think information transparency is something that will become impossible to avoid in the future, and state secrecy as we know it is done for in the long run. But ideology aside this young man has to face the real world consequences of a serious crime, and he was influenced if not radicalized towards those actions by smart, charismatic campaigners and commentators. Viewed from that angle then whether you agree with the ideology or not you have to admit that the tactics being employed are the same tactics employed by radical muslim clerics when recruiting jihadists. And that certainly isn't a good look. i read in the paper that that guy has now been found guilty of like 23 different crimes and is facing life imprisonment. life?!? for leaking government secrets about war crimes? i appreciate the moral ambiguity of what he did but going to prison for life for it is very 1984

i don't think this is all his vinyl, otherwise there would be a lot more.
i reckon it's maybe part of it that he got rid of to a mate a while back or something.
i'd still fucking kill for it though!

There's new rig in both rooms so the sound in there is awesome (as opposed to f*cking awful like it was before). Full Funktion1 downstairs with Shit loads of bass and extra flown tops to even out the sound towards the back of the room, and a chunky ass Void rig in room 2 that packs a proper punch too. Plus they still sell Dragon Stout and Guiness Extra etc super fly now someone please book some 140 bassweight business in there. i am in need! You missed our Plastician night then? This should provide you with plenty of Bass. i meant more on the deeper 140 flex

Amaazing! I fancy a good snooze on a boat.
You weren't that taken with his Crazylegs performance then? No, he was great. Im just assuming this is James Blake playing Wilhelm scream which hasn't got any wilhelm screams in it a fair point, however that tune is amazing

Food for your Ears / The Desk / Re: My bass "plucks"
|

EDIT: I actually have another problem with my bass, when I turn the volume too low u will not hear it anymore, and when I turn it too high (slapping on the 0db) it sounds like a big overdrive sound comes out of the bass and resonates through all the other tracks. I guess it's logics way of telling me "NO!". It's probably solved with an EQ or compressor, or should I wait with this until the final mixdown?
A note on this, something a friend has had issues with and I don't have all the answers to, however. You have to be wary if your monitors (headphones etc) can't go low enough to reproduce sub bass. Just because you can't hear it doesn't mean there isn't loads of it. Basslines are usually made up of a few layered these days and done in a way that they fool the brain into thinking there is lots of bass, even on tiny little speakers which can't possibly be shifting that much air. (Fletcher-Munson curves and what not). So by cranking up your bass so you can hear it on your set-up, (to the point of nasty digital clipping/ distortion in that case) you'll actually have far too much bass* and all that low energy will hold down the overall volume for the rest of the track. I'd be interested if anyone can shed a bit more light on producing this psuedo-bass actually. *if there is such a thing. as far as i can tell the only time this would happen is if you were using ickle speakers and were turning low end stuff up loads to hear it properly, in which case your effectively hardwall limiting to whole tune when the bass hits cos it'll be like +6dB or something ridiculous. watch the master db meter!

System in Basement 45 is great and sounded superb on many occasions. It does suffer from a lack of attention in engineering (meaning it's sounded rough a couple of times) and NOT SORTING THE FUCKING MIC TO MIXER TO LIMITER PROBLEM. Fuck me when an mc is on the music dies down to a fucking mouse fart in the main room.
i think that this is VERY true. it was very apparent at metalheadz the other night, which was lame. to clarify, i think that the install rig has the capability to sound really good but when the place is packed - which it often is - it just doesn't quite get loud enough. not to slate b45 in general because it is one of my favourite places

i really like the venue, i like the vibe, i like a lot of the nights that happen there but why oh why oh why haven't you got just a liiiickle more rig?? an extra stack at the front would literally make the place so so much better, it's getting annoying seeing amazing dj's and only just being able to hear them over the crowd noise. yours sincerely

Big release and well deserved! Masters sound pretty damn tasty too! liking it when when when WHEN is breathwork coming out? that tune is intensely amazing haha one of my mates has asked me if that's out everytime i've seen him in the last 18months, i haven't left him alone with my serato machine as i fear his obsession with that tune could lead him to a life of crime just to get it.... i'm literally leaving my house to break into yours

why on earth would you want to live in clifton anyways? Why not. What's wrong with it? (aside to the crime rate and poors). It's not cool to admit that you think Clifton is quite nice. You're supposed to pretend that you think Easton is nicer and that you'd much rather live there, because you're honestly so far away from being middle class or anything like that, honestly. @ Haydeez - the flat sounds cool bro - go for it! it's quite nice in some ways yes, but i think the general wankyness would get to me. each to their own though, of course.
