I love the local independents on gloucester road and shop in them almost exculsively, but I also really really hate seeing empty buildings. There are shit loads of them up my end of gloucester road and I'd far rather see them opened up as any kind of shop than standing empty. If a costa opened near the prom I would be glad that there was one less empty building and carry on getting my caffeine fix from tart. It's not easy to set up a successful independent business - a new green grocers opened near us recently and shut down after 6 months cause it was losing money. This was not because a tescos opened next door to it, but probably much more to do with the fact that it opened near by to Pawsons and not far from 2 other independent grocers.

10 - spend the day in the pool, jacuzi, steam room and sauna at the marriot hotel on college green. Did this the other week with some girlfriends and it was bliss, came out feeling so relaxed Grin

This sounds like heaven! Any info on this? I've looked on the website but can't find anything. Ta.x

That's all there is to it really. You just turn up and pay, they give you towels, there is a smallish pool, jacuzi, sauna, steam room, showers. Think there might be a gym included in the price, not my bag so I didn't ask! I'm sure they could tell you more if you rang up Two Thumbs
Also, you can sometimes blag a free go in the sauna etc at Canons/Nuffield/whatever it is these days if you say you're interested in joining and want to try it out.

Today I will mostly be making an online tutorial about chlamydia Tongue

A tutorial on how to contract chlamydia? Do you work for an antibiotics company?

I don't work for anyone, I'm doing this for fun...

Awesome... do you just ring and book, you don't have to be staying in the hotel?

Nope just turn up. You can also park in their carpark for free for 3 hours if you're using the pool.

Can I do this with your girlfriends next time kitty?

 Perv, mmmhmmm, yummy *rubs hands*

215  General / The Forum / Re: So it looks like I'm gonna have to wear train tracks for the next 2 years! on: July 19, 2011, 15:20:28
Alas, I'm not going to find out for a while :/

They've cancelled my surgery. Had an angiogram on Friday to look at blood vessels around the jaw and - surprise surprise - there are some pretty big ones, and they're not prepared to risk it at the moment without further investigation.

They're going to consult with 3 more surgeons and then let me know. If they don't, I would have worn braces for nearly 2 years for no good reason at all.

And that's my biggest annoyance. They could have done the angiogram BEFORE I had the braces fitted and easily have said yes or no. I asked why this didn't happen - and they couldn't answer. If they decide not to operate, I may seriously consider looking into some legal action.

Not only that, but the braces are designed to set your teeth 'wonky' so that when they move the jaw, they're back in line. I have no idea how long it would take to reset my teeth should they decide not to operate.

I of course don't want to risk my life (and that's what it could be), but why this wasn't explored at the very beginning is what eludes me.

Sad.

Bummer. The NHS are shit when it comes to foresight. Hope they manage to find a safe way to do it, what a ballache for you Sad

Dolly Parton's 'D.I.V.O.R.C.E' or Joy Division's 'Love Will Tear Us Apart'.

What actually happened at my wedding: the wife and I gave our guests a voting card with a choice of three first dances on. The bastards picked 'Sexual Healing'.

Wes

Almost everyone has to deal with nightmarish people at work. For example, I work from home which translates to spending all day on Hijack. Hijack is basically my job. When people ask me about my day I tell them it was ok, but there's this nightmarish person I have to deal with at work called Wes. Likewise, your job is to be a professional idiot. That might involve trying to cave in a bin man's head with a brick, after which you might tell Hijack about the nightmarish situation. That doesn't mean that I don't love and care about you, or that you don't love and care about the bin man, just that sometimes we all need to let off a bit of steam.

Wes don't be a dick, everyone complains about annoying customers/colleagues/patients when they've had a shit day. Just because you work in a hospital doesn't mean you can't, as long as you're not disclosing any personal details.

Un-neccesarily cuntishly difficult exam. Extremely demoralizing to not be able to answer any questions when you've genuinely been working your arse off for ages. Makes the blood sweat & tears seem like a massive wasted effort Cry
