Nice writeup from Venue.... "Seventh birthday celebration for one of Bristol's most distinctive and enduring nights. Ruffnek were one of the first nights to feature dubstep DJs on its lineups and is now a tireless champion of an eclectic mixture of genres informed by global soundsystem culture. Tonight's headliner is Canadian tropical bass maverick Porier, and support comes from Jus Now, a new collaboration from Interface and Laza Beam combining soca and jungle. Residents Dub Boy, Atki2 and Brother Wetlands play bashment, soca, dancehall, UK funky and carnival friendly beats of every kind"

None of it matters too much anyway..people are much more concerned with BLOC whoever they are, going into administration Imagine being a copper this weekend and finding out which event you are policing...at least the ones working the gay pride will get the chance for a crafty snog I just found out the Bristol Foodie Fair is on as well in town, so the EDL are not only going to be ducking from missiles of glitter bombs and poi, but also loaves of foccacia bread and jars of Organic rhubarb compote. Talk about 'welcome to Bristol' Culture clash

UAF will never be as bad as the EDL for the simple fact that they aren't fascists.
UAF aren't fascists..... pull the other one They use violence to achieve their aims, and denounce anyone who doesn't agree with them. Fuck em And this the UK, not mainland europe. We've avoided extremism pretty well I should say by ignoring groups like these. Keep calm & carry on You are so wrong. The difference between UK and most European countries is that some people in the UK have not ignored the far right. In the 30s the communist party, in the 70s the anti-nazi league and in the 90s numerous anti-fascist networks have used direct action to stop the far right building as a street-fighting force. In France for example the left is very strong but they have not forced fascists off the streets and now they find themselves with very strong far-right parties challenging for political power. Your arrogance and ignorance of history would be comical if it wasn't so dangerous. I wonder if you have developed an apathetic political viewpoint to make yourself feel better about being inherently cowardly? at least have the guts to go and see what is going on for yourself on the day then your keyboard denunciations of other people might be a little more credible. ha ha I'm a history graduate who's been working in historical research for 10 years so claims of ignorance of history are pretty far off the mark im afraid Riot like the French, get policed like the French. Our outcomes regarding fighting the right are different due to our pragmatism, combined with 'direct action'. If YOU know your history then you will also know things are never black & white, but always shades of grey. Inherently cowardly.... you obviously havn't met me. You're the one calling me names safely tucked behind your keyboard. You're very welcome to say that to my face I've witnessed the UAF in full effect.... i form my opinions on what I've seen for myself Less of the assumptions pls

We want to meet them at the station to stop them marching for any distance. We will resist them wherever they turn and we will be watching them.
Fighting facism with facism. Nice one I say ignore them & dont them the fight they're looking for.... coming out in force against them will just fuel their pariah complex which is even more dangerous. Hopefully it'll rain and the day will a washout for all involved (sorry Pride, but a shitty day of rain will be for the greater good on Saturday) Fuck the EDL, fuck the UAF

EDL are such a non-entity they couldn't even get enough people to attend a pan-european rally of far-right supporters in Denmark a few months back.
The anti-fascist groups gathered outside outnumbered the delegates about 10 to 1.
Like all these things, if you marginalise them you make them martyrs - then they can spout off about their democratic right to protest being suppressed.
Let them march. Let them shout. And let the world see how utterly pathetic they are.
Boom. Money shot. By creating opposition you only ever make a movement or ideology stronger. It needs it's antithesis to exist. And lol at them even coming anywhere NEAR the genuinely multicultural areas of Bristol. They haven't got the bottle. Living in a free country means you have to tolerate things you don't like or agree with. That's life.

As someone who travels around Bristol on foot, on bike & by car I would say from experience that eveyone is as bad as each other.
Frankly, it is war out there. I just assume everyone is out to kill me, and that paranoia (touch wood) has served me well as I've never had a serious accident (yet.... im probably tempting fate telling people this)

I thoroughly enjoy reminding Bristol's street preachers that there is no compulsion in religion Unfortunately they're so bloody arrogant it never shuts em up. Oh well........ Oh and booze, pork & shellfish are clearly a gift from god
