Blurb on Andre Crom:

Andre Crom

Although active as a DJ and a producer for many years, 2012 is proving to be Andre Crom's strongest year so far.
His label OFF Recordings, founded shortly after his move to Berlin in 2008, has become omnipresent in the Beatport deep house charts, often having 5 tracks in the top 100 at once.

The Resident Advisor users have shown OFF big love as well, voting its music into the “most charted top 50 of the month” for 6 months in a row between February and July 2012. In
addition, his April 2012 solo EP (OFF 30, „Holdin' On“), made it to # 12 of the „Resident Advisor most charted tracks for April 2012“.

The recipe behind this success is simple: Andre Crom and OFF Recordings release music to give people on the dance floor a good time. Nothing more and nothing less. The sound selection is eclectic moving fluidly from sleazy deep underground pop tunes to jacking house to reduced groovers - diversity and fresh trends are welcome and keep things
interesting.

The OFF sound, as well as Andre's own productions, merge elements of musical genres such as disco, 80s pop, jazz, funk, soul, blues, hip hop and techno with house, produced with a modern yet raw, cutting-edge style.
Since the above mentioned OFF 30, Crom has followed up with an impressive number of original productions and remixes.

Notably, the "Tell Me" EP on Freerange in May, the
"Reality" ep on OFF in June, a remix for oldschool-legend George Morel in July, and very recently his maybe biggest EP of the year so far on Exploited: "Back Into The Future".
This EP is a collaboration with longtime partner Martin Dawson, it features vocals by the legendary Roland Clark and two amazing remixes by Monte and Flashmob.

However, it's during Andre Crom's gigs, playing a mix of his own productions, unreleased OFF signings and carefully selected new tracks, grooving behind the decks just as much as the crowd on the floor – that are the best proof for his deep and profound love for house music and
a good party.

Since his move to Berlin in 2008, Crom has been working tirelessly as a full time as label manager, music producer and dj. His label "OFF Recordings" is one of the most popular imprints of its kind, while its releases continues to receive exceptional feedback and regularly enters high chart positions in the leading vinyl & digital stores;
OFF SPIN 03 – Thyladomid – "The Voice" held the Beatport
Deep house Chart # 1 position for many weeks to name just one example.

Like a fine wine, Drama just keeps getting better with age. In May we reach the ripe old age of six so we're parking our zimmer frames for the night and hitting the dance floor in style!

With a very special guest DJ, paying us a visit- we are very excited to celebrate another birthday at Dojo's in Bristol.

Six years ago in an underground club in Bristol, an idea was born! Albeit the idea was the result of someone strutting their stuff on the dance floor until 4am, and then being told the party was over and that it's time for bed. Being stubborn has it's benefits and the dance floor strutter decided that what Bristol needed was an after party.

And so, Drama was created and for four years they provided Bristol with a place to go when everywhere else was closing their doors and mopping their floors.
While the rest of Bristol was getting out of bed and putting the kettle on, a club full of dedicated ravers continued until the late morning.

But, age catches up with us all and Drama decided that it was time to behave, just a little bit. They moved to Dojo and for a year and a half put on monthly sell-out parties, filling the club to the rafters with happy, smiley faces.

After a summer holiday Drama returned in November to continue at a more leisurely bi-monthly pace. This means they have more time to prepare extra special parties, and their birthday party will be no different. With a fantastic guest flying in from Germany along with credible Bristol support from the likes of Billy Disney, Greg Shaw and Deep Thought, this party is set to go off the hook. Standard.

Better late than never, here's my contribution (which will also explain why I never post on here anymore!)

Highlights

-getting engaged
-Business continued to expand at a healthy pace- now have two staff!
- Started offering dog training as a service after giving far too much free advise that always proved to be successful
-Started a diploma in canine studies
-Secured training with a legendary dog trainer from Norway who is on the brink of retirement. She broke her normal training regime and agreed to try something new and come to the UK and teach me and four others in my house, with my three dogs for four day. Hearing her tell me that I've done a good job with my three rescue dogs was awesome. And what I learned was invaluable. I'm now one of 6 people in the UK taught by her and she's coming back in june to teach me some more.
-Getting a xmas email off said dog training lady!
-Getting my rescue dog from Thailand.
-Moving into my new house with my fiance
- Having a family xmas meal on boxing day at our home. Having my mum and Dad be together on boxing day for the first time in 22 years....just a shame he no longer knows who any of us are! Sad

Lowlights

- Batman the cat dying
-Being constantly exhausted from working so bloody hard
- Being given the minimal eviction notice after living somewhere for 8 years. And the stress of finding a new place when you have 6 pets! Luckily we did....
-Not holidaying enough!

Also, a furry black rug for free. Does have a lot of dog and cat hair on it, but hoovers out fine. We'll give it a hoover tomorrow so it wont be too animal like.

Also, crockery....mugs and plates....free to anyone who wants them

please call me on 07765403032 as I have no net access as of tomorrow and am too busy to bother using my blackberrys shit internet.

Moving house and getting rid of stuff.....

FREE

Wicker throne style chair- looks nice but we don't have space for it.

TV/Office cabinet- white metal from Ikea. Bit shabby on edges but looks fine. The locks on the front are missing though (key snapped in lock)

Wardrobe- Ikea. Wooden and plastic. My cats have scratched the plastic on one side, but that could be taken off so it's just the wood underneath.

£20 PER ITEM

Kingsize bed. Wooden with headboard and footboard. Looks nice but we want a new one. Mandatory cat scratches on one side, but these could be sanded out.

Klippan sofa from Ikea. Currently has black covers but these could do with a wash or replacing. Covers from Ikea are £20 and upwards.

TV Cabinet. Ikea again! Dark grey with black glass. In good condition.

Make sure you notify Bristol dogs and cats home (any lost animals are taken here usually) and your local vet and other nearby vets.
Poss also worth notifying The Moggery who are nearby to you.

http://www.rspca-bristoldogsandcatshome.org.uk/contact/

Also ask neighbors to check their gardens and shed as he probably wont have gone far within the first 24 hours, especially if he's not use to being outside.

Hope you find him.

Like a fine wine and a nice wedge of cheddar, Drama is maturing and just gets better each year. For April we scraped off the mold and celebrated our Fifth birthday with some of London's finest house DJs.

The downside to getting older is that we need to rest every now and... then. As much as we hate to admit it, we need a little kip!

So, before we embark on our three month detox and slumber over the summer months we are bringing you another edition of Drama for May.

We expect all of you to turn up and rave like there's no tomorrow. Considering there's no Drama for three months you have no excuse. Put your dancing shoes on and do those warm up stretches and lunges....why not go all out and don head to toe Lycra to ensure that all your dance moves are performed to perfection!

This month we bring you Hungarian Dj/Producer Jozsef Keller

Jozsef Keller has been working in the electric music business for more than 10 years. In the beginning he worked by himself, and from 2007 till 2011 his partner was Pete-R. In a short time he and his tracks became popular all over the world. A unique, dynamic and massive sound with amazing melodies can easily be recognized in his music and also in his remixes.
The power of his work and his love of music can be felt when he is on stage and in the studio too, maybe this is the reason why his music and remixes are played and supported by Tiesto, Fedde Le
Grand, Gareth Emery, Roger Sanchez, Alex Kenji - to name a few.
Remix-wise, he has worked on tracks for Peter Rauhofer, Celeda, Belocca, Muzzaik, etc.
His tracks and remixes have appeared on well-known labels like Strictly Rhythm, Defected, Azuli, Spinnin, Nervous, Sneakerz Muzik, Star 69 Records, Housesession and many more!
Jozsef Keller's Dj mixes have been spun by the most popular radio shows like Housesession Radio show, Sneakerz Muzik Radio show, etc.
In April his single "The Only One" featuring Kim English, Blacksoul & Pete-R reached the number 4 spot on the Traxsource overall chart and achieved great popularity. The past 2 years have seen Jozsef Keller burn dance-floors in the different countries of Europe (Hungary, Austria, Holland..)

Expect to hear plenty more from this guy in the very near future.
All in all, Jozsef Keller is ready to rock every club and festival all around the world with his talent and love.

Secondly we bring you local Dj Andrew Bellenger

Andy started dj'ing in 2004 when he moved to Bristol for university studies. Growing up in the South East of London, he was heavily influenced by the UK garage scene which would eventually develop into the solid House sound that he discovered in the underground clubs of Bristol.

Whilst starting out, Andy developed his skills on the student circuit eventually becoming a resident for Comeplay for 6 years (2005 - 2011) at some of the biggest & most successful student nights in Bristol. From playing at venues such as Bristol Academy, Motion to a residencies at Warehouse & Bunker, he developed the necessary skills of dj'ing to be able to handle any style thrown in his way.

Two summers of working abroad in Greece allowed Andy to develop a better understanding of dj'ing as well as allowing time to develop his original passion of house music. This has led to a techno style which concentrates on the more uplifting side of tech-house, with big breakdowns & buildups with a strong focus on his sets as a whole piece of music not just a collection of songs.

2012 sees him taken up a residency at The Severn Shed playing uplifting house in beautiful surroundings down on the Bristol waterfront. This coupled with guest appearances at House nights around Bristol & the South West means the outlook for 2012 is exciting indeed.

We've just about stopped buzzing over February's Drama, but that doesn't mean we're going to stop bragging about it!
Once again we were at capacity and DJs Ulterior Motive, Nick Yockney and your trusty Drama crew absolutely smashed it.

We've rested and recovered and are ...now doing our warm up stretches for our next installment, our birthday party!

DRAMA IS 5!!! In dog years that's about 40 and in rave years that's about.....er......5!!

For our birthday party we bring you some special guests from the UK, THE PUSHAMANN and ZEITGEIST

Playing along side some of the best talent in the game The Pushamann has proved his worth with frequent sets at Fabric (London) throughout 2008-2012.
The Pushamann and the rest of the N.o.N crew have been hosting slamming parties for over a year now in some of East London's most intimate venues.
He has spent the last few years playing at some of the most crucial underground venues across London, from the notorious Fabric to Shoreditch’s East Village.

His Nature or Nurture night, which he runs with Terry Francis, is all about spreading the night's deep, infectious sound. Nature or Nurture has already enjoyed appearances from some truly unique underground DJs such as Nathan Coles, Tim Sheridan, Hector, Kenny Hawkes and Moodymanc, whilst also boasting the rest of the N.o.N DJs each night.

Next up we have Zeitgeist:

DJ, Producer and label boss of Phobic Records, releasing now under his Zeitgeist alias, Richard Belsom has established himself as one of the UK’s finest up and coming talents.

Since finishing in the semi finals of the Rhythm Clash DJ competition a few years back (held in association with Pioneer and Club Class), Richard’s portfolio has seen him go onto play some of the biggest clubs and festivals in the UK and Ibiza including Fabric London, Ministry of Sound, Stealth, East Village, The Aquarium, The Key, Halo, The Gallery at Turnmills, the Electric Gardens Festival (to a 3000 strong crowd), Es Paradis and Bar M to name but a few, as well as promoting his own events.

On the production front Richard is constantly in the studio experimenting with sound and creating tracks around the genres he loves. His work has been signed to many labels worldwide including releases out/forthcoming on Liebe*Detail, Highgrade, Wiggle, Save Room, Katchuli, Pins & Needles, Alive, Monique Musique, Phobic, Recycle, Blockhead, 3rd wave etc, gaining support from top jocks across the globe including Seth Troxler, Luciano, Maceo Plex, Marco Carola, Lee Burridge, Terry Francis, Nic Fanciulli, Florian Kruse, Hernan Cattaneo, Presslaboys, Kriece, Paul Woolford, Yousef, King Unique, Oxia, Larsson, Tom Stephan, Deepgroove and Oliver Huntemann to name but a few.

After a super lazy January that saw the Drama crew kick back, relax and get all the boring little jobs done.....such as tidying our bedrooms, taking the plastic bottles to ASDA's recycling centre, cleaning the fridge, filing our toenails and if you're Dave....finally getting round to trimming your nasal hair! We were back with an epic bang!!
We launched our 2012 with an amazing live set from SAYTEK. For the first time ever we had a DJ that broke free from the secure surrounds of the DJ booth and got amongst the crowd with a few grands worth of music production kit on a free standing table.
SAYTEK smashed it....and thankfully a rammed Dojo's didn't smash his kit and it lived to play another day.

Next up we bring you Mr Duncan Crane aka Ulterior Motive.

As with most DJs, Duncan shared his passion of music by mixing his favourite records together for himself & for friends during the early 90's. By chance, a promoter got hold of one of these tapes and liked it so much he gave Duncan his first gig under his moniker of Nifty.
Nifty continued to play many free parties in & around the South West and continued to do so as the music scene changed. He also began working at a local record store and amassed a huge record collection and industry knowledge.
During the mid 90s as clubs came back "en vogue" he gained residencies at various clubs including, the then legendary, Lakota playing alongside all the usual big names.
Along with some close friends, he also ran one of Bristol's longest running nights Home-grown, which was voted best Techno night in the South West by Mixmag.
His ability to whip the dance floor into a frenzy didn't go unnoticed and he then got plenty of gigs playing abroad from France to Croatia and the obligatory Ibiza slots.

Duncan wanted to do more than just play other peoples records, so the obvious next step was to begin producing his own tracks.
After a few early experimental releases under different guises, he had his first main release for Hope Recordings which gained international support from Herman Cattano, Hybrid & Nick Warren amongst others.
His production skills were then enlisted by Deepgroove which resulted in releases on record labels Hardhouse and FourTwenty recordings.

With various projects & remixes in the pipeline, collaborating with various artists of varying genres, you can be sure that you will see the names DC & Ulterior Motive increasingly on the scene.

Happy New Year Everybody!

We've detoxed (for all of one week- but it still counts!), taken the Christmas decorations down and found a suitable stashing place for all the unwanted toiletries we received as gifts from various Aunties and Cousins.

We had January off to recover from another fantastic year that saw us throw some brilliant parties, which were consistently busy with our usual up for it crowd.

For Febuary Drama is back with a bang! And what better way to start off our 2012 than with an exciting live act.

So, we bring you......SAYTEK!

Described by DJ Mag and Carl Cox simply as 'Amazing', Saytek is the hottest live artist and producer to emerge from the UK house and techno scene.
He's headlined at Fabric in London, The Mint Club in Leeds to name but a few, as well as being billed to play at various international events.

Album reviews:

“"An amazing live set journeying through Saytek's distinctive vision of house and techno, Saytek, aka Joseph Keevill has been wowing audiences for the last decade, from Fabric to Zoo Project (where he’s recorded two albums), with live performances utilizing a blend of analogue and digital gear"
DJ Mag

"This is one all aficionados of techno and house should be reaching for" - 9/10
iDJ

About the live show:

"One of the UK's freshest and exiting acts, all the music written and produced by the man himself - Amazing!!!"
Carl Cox on his Global show to 13 million listeners worldwide

It's that time of year where we eat too much, drink too much and basically do everything that's bad for us- justifying it all by saying 'I'll be good in the New Year'.

Well, we all know that's not going to happen......we know damn well that we wont behave any better next year than we have this year.....so we intend to end the year 2011 with how we mean to go on.
...
So, you can expect the usual antics at our 'Drama All Nighter Christmas Special', as well as added Christmas cheer, and plenty of spirit(s).

KERENI

plus the usual suspects:

DAVE KIRIK
GREG SHAW
DEEP THOUGHT

Richard Ali, aka Kereni, was born in Naples, Italy and later moved to Sardinia. He discovered an interest in electronic music at a young age, after his mum gave him his first keyboard.
He started to attend parties in 1998 and was quickly captivated by electronic music, especially acid techno. He soon began experimenting with technology, trying to recreate the music that he loved.

In 2002 he moved to Bristol (UK), where he continued following his passion for music and technology. He started doing live performances at small parties and occasional club gigs and at the beginning of 2009 Kereni debuted in London and as well as at Bristol’s infamous Drama after parties. He also connected with Bristol's Dan Jeffries, aka [sic], and they both ran a night called ''Code''.

After focusing on djing and performing for a while, Kereni only recently began working in the studio again, producing his own tracks and cultivating his distinct, bass-heavy dark techno sound.

Winter is fast approaching.
We packed our shorts and vests away......only to unpack them a week later when a random heat wave hit the UK during the last week of September.
Heatwaves aside, we're ever the optimists and we're anticipating a super cold winter.
As such, we're somewhat concerned for all of the Bristol club go-ers health.
What with all the rain, wind, snow and frost we're worried you're all going to get the lurgy.
So we're doing our bit by providing you with a hot, sweaty and bass heavy dance floor to keep yourself warm on.
Leave the gloves at home so your hands are free to reach for the lazers. Get to Drama and sweat that fresher flu away....

For this installment of Drama we're showcasing another talented DJ and producer.
