1  General / The Forum / Re: Anyone know a 3d artworker looking for work? on: October 06, 2008, 14:50:33
I might need some 3d products made here and there (really exciting things like hand dryers and work benches). . .They would be purely for visual/marketing purposes to be made from photos and dimensions, they wouldn't need to be accurate to the mm or for people to build from! Just nice shiny lighting effects etc....

If anyone does that kind of thing I'm more than happy to send some work your way,

ye i can do that.. i'll send you a pm

Doesn't that defeat the object of everyone doing it yesterday?  Undecided

nah i think its the record of that day theyre after.. not to get so many people blogging at the same time.

quite good reading this whole thread. n its obvious the only way to never smoke ever again is to never smoke ever again. Have quit a few times and the sly 'just the one' allways ends up with me smoking full time again. Reckon it'll be easier on everyone next year when the smoking ban comes in so might weight till then

13  General / The Forum / Re: Artist told to remove gay Batman paintings from gallery on: August 23, 2005, 14:29:41
Having just spent millions toughening up the Batman franchise after Joel Shumaker camped it up to fuck in Batman & Robin I can kinda see why theyd be putting a stop to this at the moment. And anyway its their property so they can do whatever they want innit.

Dont really see that much artistic merit to the work anyway and suprised its deemed exhibition worthy, although maybe the fact it was bound to cause some controversy is why it was displayed. There's tons of crappy fan art on the net of the same calibre, like startrek stuff with Kirk n Spock getting it on or like those animated giffs of lisa simpson sucking off bart. You dont see that in the tate, do you now?

21  General / The Forum / Re: Breakdancing transformers animation on: July 28, 2005, 14:59:06
critique is good.

Yeh the tv advert is obviously going to be better, reckon they probably had a bigger budget than us (i.e. we had no budget at all)

The semiotic thing is really just starting out, there is a small collaberation of us interested in this work. It is more music sided to be honest, or atleast more of us are trained producers than animators. We are running a night on Saturday at Il Bordello, and trying to encourage as many animators and filmakers to come down and get involved. Basically trying to lift the profile of VJing, (hate all that spirally acid trip shit) want the visuals to actually fully stand up on their own against the music. The night is going to be a live electronica night, with laptops, double bass, acoustic guitar, samplers and then the screening of that animation. It will be a good night, you should come if you are around.

Currently we are applying to the arts council for funding to allow semiotic to finish a large project we have been working on for a little while. Quite difficult to do as money is tight so we have to do all our work in our spare time. Damn rendering. But such is the case with all things that are enjoyable until the illusive "break"

What animation do you do yourself.

CG character animator me. Sounds well good what your planning, been wanting to get more into doing more music culture based stuff, videos n VJing n that but its been well hard to find the time. But yeah, what your doing sounds well interesting to me n Id love to get involved. Not about on saturday tho but hope it goes well. Email me n Ill send you my reel so you can have a look what I can do owensimons@hotmail.com

as for the crit was only gonna say that it could be improved greatly by cleaning up the motion capture data a bit. Making sure feet n hands lock to the floor would add much more weight to the characters n can be done quite easily. Also the characters arent ariculated like robots.. their joints 'bend' and arent pivoted like machinery so you end up a little bit with what looks like men in rubber robot costumes, but i guess thats to do with what rig youve used for the mocap. But yeah, Im just nit picking really. Part of being a character animator is that you have to rip motion capture stuff to bits because it could quite easily put me out of a job  Bad Teeth

Best of luck for saturday  Two Thumbs
22  General / The Forum / Re: Breakdancing transformers animation on: July 28, 2005, 13:09:56
worked fine for me.

Its allright like, but kinda pales in comparison to that transformers car advert n other breakdancing transformer videos Ive seen (theres a really good one on the net with soundwave somewhere)... there's loads more I could say about it being an animator but I guess your probably not looking for a critique, still its good work tho Smiley

Whats the deal with Semiotic then? Any future plans or other projects youve got going?

I tend to use boy n girl quite a bit, which although can sound quite patronising at first is quite endeering (sp) i think.

also.. breh, spa, lovely and chicken.  ( "oh breh, I just bought a lovely chicken down the spa" aint what i mean)
29  General / The Forum / Re: What artist/genre have you gone off recently? on: July 13, 2005, 15:22:35
my love for dnb is slipping slightly, not that Ive gone off listening to it or going out to nights but just cant seem to justify spending money on records that ill only play for 2 months before getting bored of anymore.
30  General / The Forum / Re: Slightly Crazy but very cool tv show on: July 13, 2005, 15:19:10
yeah to be fair most of the creatures on it are a bit stupid and like crosses between different animals. Like theres fish that can fly imaginatively called flish! and a squid that swings from trees like a monkey called a squibbon! they were all a bit silly really.

I shall pass on your praise roadkill (still best mates)

48  General / The Forum / Re: The female midget mc last night at kaution! on: February 28, 2005, 12:54:01
I had a good night even if there was a bit of a school disco vibe to it. Didnt even think it was that rude in there tbh, quite friendly where I was standing. Could be to do with how mashed i was mind.

System could of been a lot better considering the size of the place, but was dancing infront of the stack for most of it which seemed to help.

Skibba was there for the last hour Mash, but he wasnt all that memorable.

Brian G n friction smashed it. Andy C only for 20 mins was a bit of a shame but good way to finish the night.

N yeah, I saw the short girl MC, she was in the hiphop room when we got in. made me chuckle, fair play to her tho.
