I think they use a third party maybe eatsy! The pork belly is amazing
2  General / The Forum / Re: Chinese in Bedmo on: January 08, 2015, 13:53:43
China Capital still the best takeaway in Bedmo (it's on the dirty side but so much better than the alternatives). That said, Dynasty deliver which sort of renders the rest redundant imo
3  General / The Forum / Re: Top 5 Christmas Films! on: December 24, 2014, 17:07:48
Watched its a wonderful life last Thursday. Then again beginning to end on Friday. I regret nothing.

5  General / The Forum / Re: Recommend me some breaks/breakbeat garage/bassy 4/4 stuff on: August 14, 2014, 12:24:54
The Hannah wants mixtapes are probably my favourites, links to those and loads of others here...

http://forum.breakbeat.co.uk/tm.aspx?m=1973901740

That thread has helped me get to grips with this style a lot! Plenty of old jungle heads making the transition

That sounds like what I was after. Two Thumbs No internet points for me though, for not finding breakbeat.co.uk!

They have been going since you've been dangerwanking as per your sig, maybe that's why you've never found it?!  Bad Teeth

8  General / The Forum / Re: FAO: Love Saves the Day on: May 30, 2014, 19:54:36
They will be back next year but in a new location. Along with several other festivals IMO

This would improve things a lot, somewhere they can crank it and have more than one entrance, or a bigger one
9  General / The Forum / Re: FAO: Love Saves the Day on: May 28, 2014, 13:11:51
I sort of agree, but if the music/atmosphere is not up to scratch (eg systems not loud/consistent/clear enough) then people tend to get increasingly mashup to try to compensate, which leads to a poorer atmosphere as more and more people become  "that guy" in the corner with their eyes rolling back etc as opposed to having fun/getting a bit smashed

Fabric is a great example - so much effort put into the sound, line up etc pretty much every time that the number of total mashups compared to your average Bristol party is miniscule. And the security there are genuinely "firm but fair" - I saw one guy literally getting dragged out of LSTD along a concrete path by his ankles
10  General / The Forum / Re: FAO: Love Saves the Day on: May 28, 2014, 12:15:08

Not really - I have been partying long enough to know the difference, and still do enjoy 9/10 parties I go to. This one was just very frustrating. Eventually for the majority of promotions the cash/commercial intent starts to outweigh the need to get a realy atmosphere going. I speak as someone who over a period of about 12 years saw Skelter turn to AC, 1N get sold on/turn to shit and Slammin turn to a commercial hell. Now some of those are starting to realise that you really do need to invest in putting on a proper party rather than just pay lip service to the essentials, but the only really strong parties with great vibes nowadays seem to be run by people who are primarily concerned about getting a great venue, top sound systems and who put a lot of thought into the flow of the lineup etc. Look at the Boomtown motion party vs the majority of other nights at Motion, it was on a whole other level due to the shere effort put in by the people running it.

I know I sound like a misery guts but I was massively up for this and it turned out to be a hell of a disappointment

11  General / The Forum / Re: FAO: Love Saves the Day on: May 28, 2014, 10:35:39
It was a bit all over the place, systems were all up and down(mostly down), queue was a joke, no real atmosphere mostly due to lack of volume/state of most of the people there/castle park not a great venue anyway, I think it was motion security (enough said), and when it finished they just turned all the lights off and kettled people out into the street. All felt really cynically commercial tbh. The park is utterly fucked too.

The saddest thing is that the younger people there have had their expectations lowered so much that they genuinely believe that is what a good party feels like. Having been to some really great parties recently it isn't just that I'm getting on a bit either, it just takes effort and thought towards the vibe rather than just the money or making it "work". It all made me a bit sad by the end, not least because I'm sure if they do it again they'll sell out again and never really be forced into doing anything better
12  General / The Forum / Re: Buying vinyl in Bristol on: May 01, 2014, 23:13:07
This thread makes me a bit sad! But then since going digital I've barely bought any new vinyl so serves me right I suppose.  Do you guys still play vinyl out?
13  General / The Forum / Re: Where to buy serato control vinyl in Bristol? on: April 11, 2014, 13:50:07
Also oasis sound and light sells serato, just behind bedminster parade. I love Bedminster.
14  General / The Forum / Re: Where to buy serato control vinyl in Bristol? on: April 11, 2014, 13:43:49
There's a place on north st that sells digital dj gear they might well be worth a call, I think it's called av bristol but not sure
15  General / The Forum / Re: Well bugger me. on: March 04, 2014, 13:47:21
10 years in April for me on this login, though it's about 13 years since Max Wax (anyone remember him?!)  told me about this shiny red hell hole
16  General / The Forum / Re: Vapers (E-cig users) on: February 19, 2014, 11:30:20
My list, if anyone fancies any of these let me know.....

Totally Wicked American Red Tobacco
TW Plain Tobacco
Flavour Vapour Coffee 18mg
FV Lemon 18mg
Innovapours Cola Bottle 11mg
Innovapours Lemon Sherbert 11mg
Flavour Vapour Mint 18mg
FV American Blend 11mg
FV L&B 11mg
TW Golden Virgin
TW Apple
Various flavour concs from TW - Peppermint, coffee and a few others

Also got about half a bottle of TW Nicotine and a couple of bottles of glycerin, one thin and one thick, gave up making my own as I found it long/messy/inconsistent so got a few bits and bobs like pipettes. Have got some Ego carts and atomisers as well but no one seems to use those any more

On reflection I have probably wasted a fair bit of cash in the last year! Only use an Ego with iclear now and keep mint in one and mint choc chip in the other, I find I get bored of all the wacky flavours and the tobacco flavour ones are generally pretty rough ime
17  General / The Forum / Re: Vapers (E-cig users) on: February 18, 2014, 13:28:40
I have an increasing pile of flavours I've tried and not liked - we should set up an exchange as I don't want to just chuck them and someone else might like the ones I don't....If anyone wants to try a few I have various coffee, tobacco and fruity ones hit me up on here  Two Thumbs

My personal favourite is mint choc chip from innovapours, everyone who I've given it to to try has also found it to be really nice, well worth getting a 5ml to try!
18  General / The Forum / 2x brisfest weekend tickets for sale on: September 21, 2013, 13:01:27
Sadly can't go now so if anyone wants then they're all yours 50 the pair
19  General / The Forum / Re: SOTR knowledge on: September 08, 2013, 21:19:53
what flavours do you have knocking around then?

I'm a bit of a traditionalist, fag flavour. Maybe some mentholness.

i'm thinking of trying the more sweet flavours without nicotine in.

got a few tobacco flavour ones, I'm not really a fan of those give me a shout if you want them as I am officially a mint choc chip man now!
20  General / The Forum / Re: SOTR knowledge on: September 08, 2013, 12:32:59
Flavour vapour opposite asda parade is good...if you want  to try some random ones I've got quite a few you can have, I've settled on a couple now and don't want to just chuck the old ones

The Bradley stoke one is on groupon today but I've no idea what it's like, did the Chippenham one via groupon the other week and it is a bit ghetto
24  General / The Forum / Re: Are you posh? on: February 18, 2013, 12:38:48

30  General / The Forum / Re: Tender Scoring Help? on: November 20, 2012, 21:47:46
You could just make a weighted average by multiplying the score by the weighting for each one and summing the results up to give you a weighted score between 1 and 3
31  General / The Forum / Re: suggestions for a good way of making myself feel more awake? on: November 02, 2012, 16:32:04
Forget coffee, get down your local hippy deli and get some panax ginseng tea. I never go in for any herbal remedies but absolutely swear by that stuff, wakes you up nicely and really good for your insides too. Plus you don't get the crash you do with coffee, been drinking it a couple of months now and hardly ever feel the need for coffee now

35  General / The Forum / Beres Hammond @ Ashton Gate tonight on: October 11, 2012, 12:35:58

36  General / The Forum / Re: West Street on: October 09, 2012, 11:55:48
Does anyone know if the Thai place on W Street is any good? Always tempted but whenever I've gone somewhere round here without a recommendation it's been pretty poor
37  General / The Forum / Re: West Street on: October 09, 2012, 11:40:09
Munch for sandwiches (just opposite The Hare) is good

Freak spotting/step back to the 80's on East Street

Luckwell for Saturday afternoon football

That place opposite Tob Factory for dinner

That's pretty much my standard Bedmo Saturday  Grin

40  General / The Forum / Re: Brisfest goes to Ashton Court-lineup on page 2 on: September 24, 2012, 10:08:29
How busy was it yesterday, is that why the queues weren't so bad?

Was a bit quieter but still busy, the cunning plan of putting on the biggest acts on Sunday definitely did the trick and people did turn out in force which was great. Good weekend all round really, obviously some work to do still but a great first go.
41  General / The Forum / Re: does anyone want to go halves on some Brisfest tickets? on: September 18, 2012, 18:14:07
Ah cool.  I didn't realise you could get day tickets. I thought it was only the 30 weekend passes.

They said at the start there weren't any day tickets has that changed? Also I remember reading somewhere someone else wanting to split tickets, will try and find it
