1  General / The Forum / FREE Music Production / Composing / Lyricism Workshops.... on: December 12, 2008, 13:04:51
Hi,

My boss has given me a task:

"Get people in to our studio spaces to make music."

We run a recording studio in Knowle West (it's not that bad, you pussies), and as a community project we're aiming to get people of all ages in from around Bristol to work on their musical interests with an aim to getting some tracks recorded for dissemination either through our website (www.biscuitmix.org.uk) or by a free CD.

We're thinking about getting all sort in - producers, composers, singers, rappers, instrumentalists, music theory teachers etc to basically have a workshop where people can work together, getting talent into their projects that they'd never normally reach, and generally sharing ideas, working on collaborations, that kinda ting.

There's funding available (a little bit anyway) to pay for resources that we can't find between ourselves for free, but the aim is really just to create an environment in Bristol where people can get together to see what's possible.

Our resources are:

2x Apple iMac learning suites (10 machines each) running, amongst other things, Garageband, Ableton Live, Logic Express.
1x Logic Pro based Recording Studio, with assortment of mics.
Big practice / performace space, with audio tie's to the Logic Studio.
Loads of break-out spaces for jamming / project work.

SO - The big question is - Who's Interested? When would you like to do it? (regularly?, eveinings? Weekends?)

Anything else you'd like to suggest?

Any other projects out there want to get involved?

Alright People,

I've slapped together a few bangers to ease us into the Winter. Oh yes. It IS that time of year. Goodbye crappy summer, hello horrendous winter.

There's two versions of this mix, one is a single .mp3 file with the whole mix in, the other is a .zip file with all the tracks seperated out and labelled up nicely with the relevant id3 tags.

You can also subscribe to the DJ Create Mixtape podcast now, which is nice.

For the mp3 file, go here:

Hi, I'm Jimmy, and I'm into Hip Hop and funk basically. I'm getting more and more into scratching the more I practise, and fiddle about from time to time making tunes on Logic and Ableton. Other than that I make mixtapes. I love em. And then I peddle them out life free audio goodie bags to whoever will take them. Do you want one? you can get em at....

Wahey!
9  Food for your Ears / The Desk / Re: What sequencer are you using these days? on: November 22, 2006, 18:46:03
I started off using Acid back in the day, but having spent a horrific proportion of my life fixing pc's I've now migrated to running Logic and Ableton on a Mac. It's quite odd running a machine that doesn't crash once a day.
