501  General / The Forum / Re: The Complete 1985 Argos Catalogue on: March 25, 2014, 18:32:58
Playing the 'pick one item from each page' game used to keep us quiet for hours as a kid. And laughing at the cringeworthy gold jewellery.

I bet the Transformer section is immense and made up most of my Xmas list that year.

Many of the items are much the same as these days.

The toys section is A-Team, He Man, Tonka, Return of the Jedi and the original Action Force. Transformers could possibly have been in the 83/84 ones.

edit: The 1986 one has Transformers.  Cool
502  General / The Forum / Re: The Complete 1985 Argos Catalogue on: March 25, 2014, 09:50:31
I'll look at this later. I don't think I had been exposed to Argos in 1985; my first encounter with them would have been after 1986, when I moved to Weston.

A wall will only deflect a tiny amount of sound, bass is omnidirectional and like all energy it will seek the path of least resistence. The wall might reflect some of the HF energy back, like when you walk down the road at Carnival and you can hear the high hats bouncing off the walls, but the bass comes from everywhere.

The Amazing Ty?

Amazingly boring. I bought 'Upwards' as it sounded really well produced, which it is, but it is a shame Ty is on it, as it makes it not worth listening to.

blue + blue = 99% chance of green?

I was going to say blue is a recessive gene, but:

The once-held view that blue eye color is a simple recessive trait has been shown to be incorrect

510  General / The Forum / Re: Do you always notice someone's eye colour? on: March 18, 2014, 10:56:42
I usually notice, but I am observant of small details like that. For the record, my brother, father and me have green/olive eyes, mother has blue/grey.

The only problem I had with these is that the cable transmits noise when walking. Good sound and isolation from traffic noise though.
512  General / The Forum / Re: Motion "Free party" Charging 10 on the door?? on: March 17, 2014, 13:48:05
Motion has a sign at the door that includes the line 'No Attitudes' which means all attendees must refrain from being happy or sad; the only acceptable position to take is indefference as this cannot be classed as an attitude.

Security there are millitant, the venue is mediocre, even free events are not enough to draw me there; I would only go to see a big name. Last event I went to was Kerri Chandler and that was a massive let down.

514  General / The Forum / Re: GAMERS! on: March 17, 2014, 12:06:56
It is very well done with lots of little easter eggs. The PS3 version has a few glitches, but nothing that bad.
515  General / The Forum / Re: GAMERS! on: March 17, 2014, 10:03:34
South park: stick of truth.

 Play it.

I'm loving it. The Underpants Gnomes battle is one of the most ludicrous things ever in gaming. Canada is a nice touch too.
516  General / The Forum / Re: GAMERS! on: March 13, 2014, 09:59:52
dont buy rage it is very dull

It looked quite like Borderlands, which was also dull. I'm not a fan of Bethesda's games really.
517  General / The Forum / Re: GAMERS! on: March 12, 2014, 17:07:44

I'd also recommend Metro Last Light. Atmospheric awesomeness.

I was playing this recently, but it is just another bland (story that is) FPS I think. Pretty much just a corridor shooter in gameplay.

Good work getting Brian Cox back on the keys after D-Ream though...

Wrong one, it is the ageing actor.

520  General / The Forum / Re: GAMERS! on: March 12, 2014, 09:51:18
I'm enjoying South Park. Not exactly the hardest game in the world, but the visuals are spot on and the comedy is there. Some odd glitches when changing screens and the odd load screen, but it is a nicely put together package.

King's Square

It's King Square. And in case anyone was wondering why King Square isn't apostrophised yet Queen's Square is, well, the answer is it isn't - it's called Queen Square. Not Queen's Square.

533  General / The Forum / Re: The rare art of cheese making in DR Congo on: February 05, 2014, 19:15:59
looks pretty light in comparison to the real thing - colour on any i've had in holland is orange like the edges of that one - but all the way through, keeping the good stuff for themselves i expect Wink

Vintage gouda I have bought here is only that dark at the very edge, so I guess the longer it is left, the drier and more concentrated in flavour it becomes.
534  General / The Forum / Re: The rare art of cheese making in DR Congo on: February 05, 2014, 16:23:55

Only one choice of vintage though. They have 5 other types of gouda.

But they have a 162 other types of cheese.  Pimp

Must stop looking at their selection.

I've been picking up a different cheese each time I visit Sainsbury's recently. Their vintage gouda is tasty as is their manchego, but they both need to be eaten on their own really as they are a bit mild for a sandwich.

I had some Lancashire cheese (courtesy of Sainsbury's) last night, nice and creamy with a bit of a tang to it.
