cheers for that Baggy, reading that just choked me right up! lovely words by steve redux.

while i think of it, can someone please, please, PLEASE compile all of Neil's mixes into one place for people to download? i only have the Sludge I Up and the first Dub I Up ones, both have a permanent place on the iriver and it would be nice to have the rest to see what he was up to musically in recent times.

i was just on facebook and saw the REWIND party and thought to myself, 'what's Neil up to these days then?'

fuck  Cry

in my too few years in bristol i always remembered Neil fondly as someone you could always have a bullshit-free chat with. a standup bloke who could always be relied on to keep the party jumping whether behind the decks or in front of the speakers. he taught me so much about music and dj'ing just by watching the guy play, a true inspiration. those belmont road after parties were some of my favourite times in bristol, sitting in his music room and soaking up the vibes playing with tara. he was so sweet and sincere towards me after my sister died, it helped a lot at the time.

i don't really know what else to say, except you bristol crew better rave your feet down to their bloody stumps at lakota!

big ups neil, you're a fucking legend mate.  Heart

'allo luvvers!

i was having a chat with one of my label reps yesterday about the new burial album that they've been distributing down here. shogun are primarily a skip-hop label but have been blown away by the sales on 'untrue' and are interested in adding some more dubstep artists and/or labels to their label.

so, if any of you bristol dubsteppers feel like getting a bit of exposure and sales down here, drop me a pm and i'll get you in touch with the man in charge. ez as mates.

while on the subject of bittorent questions, i have one of my own.

i have a satellite connection for the internet at my place and the special router that comes with it apparently can't have ports forwarded on it (or so says my service provider) so essentially the fastest i've ever seen something dl was about 80kb/s.  I am laughing, but I am also sad

is there any way around this, or am i stuck with waiting 12hours or more for an episode of south park?

Disturbing

yet all the porn ads around the borders have left me strangely aroused. curious.

on the subject of chernobyl; i was watching a doco the other day called 'life in the deadzone' which was about the exclusion zone around chernobyl and pripyat. since everyone was evacuated from the area, all the wildlife have returned and are living and breeding quite happily with no major side-effects from the radiation. groups of brown bears had moved into deserted houses and sleeping in beds and stuff, was quite cute.

the latest 4 hero album was pretty coma inducing when i listened to it.

'the reminder' by feist is also pretty disappointing personally. i loved 'let it die' so very much because it perfectly captured a moment in time for me a while back, so i think my expectations were set too high this time around. no matter how hard i try, i just can't get into it.

30  General / The Forum / Re: TRANSFORMER FILM TRAILER // Megatron???? NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO! on: June 29, 2007, 08:05:17
Is it really that good Phibes?

well, i certainly thought so.

it's not like i went in expeting citizen kane or anything like that and as a huge fan of the 80's cartoon i had pretty high expectations. the super-ultra-mega fanboys will probably dislike it as it is quite similar to the ang lee version of hulk from a few years ago insofar as about 3/4 of the film is buildup. at about 2 3/4 hours in length it's quite long as well, but that just gives me a sense of more bang for my buck and it's not really trudgingly slow in any places. being a michael bay film there's a couple of groan inducing scenes of cheese in places to deal with as well and there's not nearly enough seen of the decepticons imo.

but these are all quite minor quibbles. i stand by my original assessment after seeing it for the second time today.  Slayer
31  General / The Forum / Re: Chris Benoit dead! on: June 28, 2007, 05:25:31
wastejoke

jeez dude, that's pretty weak.

as an unashamed wrestling fan, this whole thing is pretty sad imo. benoit had just been drafted back to ecw, his first major wrstling promotion, and was set up for a long run as champion there. the guy was a great technical wrestler and worker who made the most rubbish of wrestlrs look decent and hopefully this whole sad scenario wont effect his deserved entry into the hall of fame one day.

the wwe really needs to address it's stance towards it's wrestlers over-using steroids, the amount of guys who have died from heart failure and suicide attributed to roid abuse is rediculous.

rip rabid wolverine and family.  LIGHTAH!

39  General / The Forum / Re: Irrational fears on: May 21, 2007, 01:52:05
Not sure if it counts, as it's not totally irrational, but I have SEVERE problems standing in front of peers and giving some kind of presentation. In uni, I'd pick units which didn't have any form of presentaion, even if I desperately wanted to do the course.

The idea of getting up in front of people, having all their eyes on you, it used to send me into awful cold sweats, I'd have bouts of nausea, I'd stutter. Twas horrific really.

aren't you a teacher though; how do you get on with that? is it ok if you're in front of a room full of kids?

i have a phobia of fruit, been that way since i was a baby. absolutely hate bananas and oranges especially, but most fresh fruit sends shivers up my spine and i gag at the thought of eating it. i've got a bit better in recent years and can now have smoothies, dried fruit, apple crumble and berries but that's about it. don't think i'll ever be able to just peel a banana and eat it fresh. yick, i feel sick just thinking about it. Skelm's real name is Tarquin. He went to Eton before moving to Bristol to study Philosophy and French at Bristol Uni. He's been here for seven years now and never lived more than half a mile from Browns. His best friend is called Humphrey. On the weekends they go to Joe Publics, before hitting the 'Lounge' in their best faded jeans, collars of their Jack Wills polo shirts upturned and unkempt par-bleached hair framing their cherubim faces.
"Do you know who my father is?" Skelm belows at the lowly doorman who prevents him from joining Felicity and Verity in the VIP room at Oceana. "You Bristolian farmer scum" he continues as he smokes his marlboro light "My father will have you locked up."
"Tarquin lets go back to mine and polish off some Clique, the pikey's not worth it" shrieks Humphry.
And they leave.

This is the truth.

skelm is just a social experiment for uni assignment innit.
