So we're back with a big'n, right after Love Saves The Day we're taking Basement 45 by storm with a killer line up. We noticed a lack of forward thinking D&B at any after parties so we took it upon ourselves to provide you all with a line up that will struggle to disappoint.

ICICLE

Icicle was born Jeroen Snik in Holland. At the Age of 8 he first started playing piano, progressing to the drum kit and soon making beats using a basic midi set-up. Aged 15 he became hooked on drum and bass after going to local night "Jungle Galaxy". Getting some turntables and better music making software followed and Icicle was on his way.

Taking inspiration from the dirty basslines of heroes Jonny L and Optical and the intricate drum patterns of Photek and Source Direct, Icicle's cold, tech funk sounds have quickly earned him DJ support from Goldie, LTJ Bukem, Fabio, London Elektricity, Pendulum, Andy C, Friction, D-Bridge, Flight, Noisia and Commix amongst countless others.

In the space of two short years he has built-up an enviable catalogue of releases on prestige labels including Ram Records, Shogun Audio, Critical Recordings, Renegade Hardware and Subtitles and become a mainstay on the UK DJ circuit, regularly playing venues including Fabric and The End whilst maintaining a hectic touring schedule stretching from Europe to Japan.

2009 sees Icicle relocating to London whilst busily working on his debut album for DJ Friction’s Shogun Audio, the label with whom he recently signed exclusively. Tours of Australia and New Zealand are already on the cards alongside extensive album support alongside the rest of the Shogun family

EMPEROR:

Growing up in the grey, minute town of Colne in Lancashire, Emperor locked himself away to produce sounds of all kinds for many years. Coming from a musical family, and teaching himself how to play various musical instruments, it would only be a matter of time before he took up the mantle of production. Experimenting with recording and editing since the age of 10, Emperor stumbled across Drum and Bass music when he was 12 years old, and so began his foray into producing growling basslines and steamrolling breakbeats. Dedicating himself to honing his skills as a producer and DJ, Emperor has been waiting for the right time to release his heavy hitting barrage of music. That time is now. With forthcoming releases on the mighty Critical Music and Break's Symmetry Recordings, and support from the likes of DJ Hype, Bailey, Wilkinson, Rockwell, Spectrasoul, Ulterior Motive, the legendary Andy C and many more, the coming years are set to become Emperors playing field.

THE ARTISTS

OPTIV B2B BTK

BTK (Virus/Renegade Hardware/Dutty Audio) - BRAZIL
Hailing from Brazil, now based in the heart of Switzerland BTK has worked for an impressive list of heavyweight labels such as Renegade Hardware, Subtitles Music and Virus Recordings. Already setting a firm foundation with these labels and many others, BTK’s tracks regularly receive support from some of the biggest DJ’s in the scene such as Andy C, Ed Rush & Optical, Friction, Marky, Ink, Dom & Roland, Gridlok, The Upbeats, Audio and many more.
BTK’s own label –“Dutty Audio”, was founded at the end of 2010. The label acts as an outlet for BTK's own music and collaborations, as well as becoming a home for some renowned guest artists . The first EP “Straight Up”, written and produced by the man himself was released to much critical acclaim. Dutty Audio continues to produce quality tracks release after release.
Aside from his colossal and diverse production credentials, his talent as a DJ has helped him gain a solid reputation worldwide. Having sold out venues across Europe and beyond with his highly successful tours, you will already know that there is far more to come from this talented artist. Hold on to your seats for 2012!

OPTIV
Drum & Bass producer from Cause4Concern. Releasing music for the best part of 14 years, Optiv, otherwise known as Edd Holmes has been an integral member of possibly one the most influential Drum & Bass collectives the scene has ever witnessed.

When Optiv’s music career began the term MP3 was a mere twinkle in the eye of future music format and at this time acetate was the preferred method for documenting. It’s clear to see that with his music being pressed to vinyl on over 20 different labels he has earned his colours and stripes as a master of his trade.

2002 saw the beginning of Optiv’s own imprint, Red Light Records, where he released the labels debut 12” ‘Strangeways’ b/w ‘Flatworm’ and since then the label has seen lots of solo work plus collaborations with Axiom, Chris.su and Rymetyme on tracks that optimise the Red Light sound, techy, rolling and always at a super high production level.

Now living in Switzerland, Optiv continues to deliver outstanding music through Red Light and with the re-ignition of Cause4Concern and further projects in the pipeline, 2012 is set to be an exciting year!

TECHNICOLOUR
Technicolour and his usual partner in crime Komatic are one of the most exciting new duos operating at the musical end of the drum & bass spectrum. Rogers announced his arrival in d&b with a debut 12" on Ennex Records in 2007, and has subsequently seen music released on Technique Recordings, Worldwide Audio and Critical Music. Powell has built up a formidable reputation within the scene through his hugely successful Bassdrive radio show, and releases on Spearhead Digital, Frequency Factory and Digiphunk.
Hooking up through an affiliation with the Drum & Bass Arena message board, their first tracks together, 'Preacher' and 'Innervision' were immediately snapped up by Worldwide Audio, who duly released them in April of 2009. With wide-ranging DJ support from the likes of Fabio & Grooverider, High Contrast, Logistics and Blame, and more music forthcoming on Technique Recordings and Bassdrive Digital, it's clear this duo are becoming very hot property indeed.

PULSAR
Exeter local has smashed up the dubstep scene lately with some big releases such as 'Bumberclart' with Dj First Aid released on Dj Die's Gutterfunk label. Also featuring on the Ministry of Sound's Dubstep compilation. Watch out for Pulsar he's making moves this year!

THE ARTISTS

STATE OF MIND
Hailing from Auckland, New Zealand, State of Mind are the duo of Stu Maxwell and Patrick Hawkins. Beginning their careers in 2004 SOM have become notoriously prolific producers with releases on a broad spectrum of labels throughout the dnb scene. Material can be found on the shelves via Total Science's CIA Recordings, Teebee's Subtitles Records, Friction's Shogun Audio, Futurebound’s Viper label, Doc Scott’s 31 Records, Concord Dawn’s Uprising imprint, Bad Company, BSE & Obsessions, and more. They released their first full CD ‘Take Control’ on Uprising Records in 2006, an album that garnered them the publicly voted award of ‘Breakthrough Artists of the year’ on the B-Net radio network in NZ, and a nomination for a prestigious NZ Music Award. In March 2009 they released their second LP, 'Faster than Light' on their own label SOM Music. To date SOM Music has released artists such as Black Sun Empire, Axiom, Chris Su, Mindscape, Dose and more. Their third album called Nil By Ear was globally released in April 2011, peaking at number 5 in the NZ Charts. This momentum has continued throughout 2011 with a series of cutting edge 12's and remixes on the likes of SOM, EMI, Project 51, Subsonik Recordings, Eat Brain, BSE and more. State Of Mind are also the former hosts of the hugely popular international ‘Next Level” 95BFM drum n bass show. The show has now been relaunched in monthly podcast format due to popular demand.
