If Gloucester road ends up looking like every other high street full of chains, nobody will go there, the chains will close having made their quick money and you'll have a ghost street like a thousand before it all over the country right now. Long term sustainability of the area IS the council's concern because we do NOT live in a free market economy, we live in a mixed market economy, i.e. one in which the government exerts partial control over markets. That's just a straight up fact. Large chains aren't so much a 'free competition' as a cancer, they want to exploit a popular high street but for every one that opens that's slightly less appeal for visitors to the road, that's another indie closes, that's another chain opens, that's another bunch of people who no longer bother to visit the area. Cancer.
I think if some of you had seen what's happened in the north of the country where these chains took over in the last 30-50 years or so and now times are shit they've gone again leaving worthless high streets nobody bothers to visit with 3 empties and 2 charity shops for every fucking costa or tesco or wilco or whatever it is... You'd be singing a different tune. This shit has destroyed towns.

Property is expensive. He may be way ahead of the curve. This is Bristol though. Before he knows it some girly he thought was hot will be sat on her fattening ass, eating battenburg waiting for her baby to drop after she 'forgot' to take her pill. Sucka4Life.

Basically until every country in the world gets as bad as Somalia everyone in the world should be grateful and never even complain, never mind try to improve anything, and should instead go around with a shit eating grin saying "At least I don't have malaria"

big fucking waste of time and money......
How so Steve? Oh come on.....to find out if there was life on Mars...what are we all going to live there or something..give me a break... as for the benefits we have all enjoyed from the space programme..well we'd have to weigh that up against it's cost wouldn't we to come to a decision about that..all the billions USA and Russia spent on the space race to the moon..and now millions of people in both countries don't have shoes on their feet fucking big kids and their toys One day we're either going to have to start telling people they can't have children, or we're going to have to start exploiting resources that aren't on this planet. Of all the things that huge amounts of money are spent on today; nukes, armies, gambling on stocks, whatever; space exploration is one that actually does benefit humanity, it has before and it will again. Things that are helping the least fortunate in the world like GM research is still going on as well. Besides which the reason there are poor people in the world isn't a lack of money, the capitalist machine doesn't work without a perpetual underclass. Billions in aid couldn't fix a broken system.

MP3 is a shit awful format. Thats not a vinyl vs digital vs CD debate its just a fact. The format does not make the dj but seriously why use MP3s when much better digital formats exist.
No one should ever redline the mixer.
It's fine for what it was designed for, listening to music on mobile devices through earbuds To be fair whether it's my shit ears or not I keep everything in V0 and it doesn't really bother me

Sometimes I really agree with him, and at others I violently disagree.
This is one of the latter.
I don't even get what his point is supposed to be; that if people want to be free to practise their own religion, they should be allowed to on the sole condition that they are harassed, insulted, and made to feel as unwelcome as physically possible?

On the one hand I don't think anybody wants people to feel pressured into surgery by ridiculous photoshopped vaginas in FHM (and they are almost ALWAYS photoshopped to remove the external labia)
But on the other hand; if it's affecting your sex life, your confidence, etc. I don't really think it's anyone's place to say you shouldn't; I mean nobody would tell a man not to get a circumcision if he felt he had a really excessive foreskin.
You can see vaginas in FHM now? I must have misremembered. Here's an article about the practise in austrailia anyway NSFW, shows actual vaginas http://www.abc.net.au/tv/hungrybeast/blog/kdrysdale/healing-it-single-crease/

I think the people talking about harm in this thread are pretty much missing the point; has anybody ever not tried drugs just because they're illegal?
The big thing that most drug users are scared of isn't addiction or psychosis or overdose; it's a criminal record. The government doesn't have to endorse something for it to be stupid to have it illegal.

You've checked your spam filter right? Gumtree replies come from gumtree email addresses and so some email accounts think they're spam.

I only got to see Plumps and Andy C.... thought it was pretty average overall. The wooded area was cool, especially the Meteor stage as mentioned.
We were wheeling round and rinsing the Doppler sound system all weekend.. SO much fun. High-light was the link up with the drummer and wheeling the rig into the middle of origin stage and playing hip hop to the psy trancers. Some loved it, others were mightily offended!
Was that you? Hahaha! I think you stuck around for a short enough time that most of the people I was with saw the funny side, anyway.

It sounds trite but for me I think it was literally the greatest weekend of my life; first real festival I've been to, first real psy event and the site, the atmosphere, the music and more than anything the crowd were so good that for me it was one of those things that will stay with me forever. I made some genuine friends, met some incredible people, we were so lucky with the weather, and the security, staff and organisation was so good... It was incredible.
I can't explain how good the atmosphere was, at least around Origin and Liquid. It was like everybody was so nice and friendly and dancey and happy that you couldn't tell who'd been hanging out with Mandy and who was stone sober. People watching out for eachother, sharing water, sharing gum, sharing "cigarettes", sharing stories, sharing everything. It was wonderful.

Considering how many people I saw rolling for Bonobo (must've given out most of a packet of chewing gum!) and that the queue for water was literally 1h5 I think the bar situation was beyond just annoying and up to straightup dangerous. I had a great time, the atmosphere was AMAZING (better than Simple Things, you don't know camaraderie until you've been queueing for a drink with the same people around you for an hour!), security were being pretty decent etc., but honestly by 9pm I was absolutely freezing my tits off and well up for going home.
