Hey lovely hijackers - or whats left of ya. Thought I'd let you know that I've gone from promoting artists to becoming one I have Brapp largely to thank for outing me and now it's something I don't hide any more. I'm a few months into my own music journey and feeling a bit more confident in myself now. Here's the first song I made with producer Macapella - we connected through the Brapp app to make this song. https://soundcloud.com/joleneosoul/dont-changeMy second song produced by Onesoul: https://soundcloud.com/joleneosoul/mister-wrong-prod-onesoulI have a third due out this week. Please give me a follow on facebook or soundcloud if you like what you hear, would love to hear your feedback as well if anyone fancies coming out of the woodwork to post Jolo aka Jolene

I seem to spending a lot of time discussing and arguing about music on Facebook. Then I remembered I used to do that all on here and that actually no one seems to know about this board anymore. I've given it a mention anyway. Hopefully I can restore a bit of harmony on facebook and get some jokes like the old times on here

What's good Hijackers, Not sure if anyone here is into the future R&B/Soul sound that's around at the moment, but someone definitely worth checking out is a new artist from Bristol called 'Dempsey'. Dempsey is the singing moniker of producer Onesoul that many of you are familiar with already but he's also a very talented singer and this is the first time he's debuting his own music. https://soundcloud.com/dempseyofficial/fly-backHope you like. All the latest updates can be found on FB: www.facebook.com/dempseyofficial

Hiya,
Does anyone know the name of the building where Ujima used to be on Deep pit road? I want to find out if the building is still accessible for use. Hoping to get in contact with the owner.
Cheers, Jolo

Hey Hijackers,
Just wondered if anyone could recommend anywhere I could use for a long term let that could be used as studio space. It needs to be accessible 24hours. Anywhere in Bristol is fine.
Cheers Jolo

have you told them you're thinking about leaving yet? - they sometimes make all manner of offers to try and make you stay
Yeh, they have been accommodating letting me work from home and taking my job to Bath (I was based in London and it made sense to move back home for childcare etc) but for them to consider a cut in my hours it would have to be a job share which isn't an option as no one else in the company is in the same position as me. I'm also finding since I've been working from home they are a little blind to the huge volume of work I'm doing and expecting a lot more. I'm so drained need a new start

Realise this is a very long shot, but if the people of Hijack know of any part time jobs please let me know. I'm a working mum and I've never been out of work, but I'm really struggling to keep to the demand of 40hour weeks with a 2 year old and think it's time I leave my job of 6 years and put my health and family first.
I'm a Project Manager for a creative agency at the moment, specialising in artwork and print for Disney (I project manage the DVD/Blu-ray artwork) so it's a creative, client facing job and very deadline driven. I'm open to any skilled job really so long as I can work for a few days and not a full week. I also do a lot of music related work as a hobby (artist management mostly) and it would be a dream to get into that if poss.... either way whatever there is out there I would consider anything as I'm finding it's difficult to find skilled part time roles.
Happy to pass on my CV... hope you lovely folk can help me like you have done in the past.
Thanks!

I read 'It's a Bris Ting' this morning and thought it was a good article - I've not seen anything researched like that before in terms of Bristol Hiphop. I shared it with R.E & Suge, both have expressed their gratitude in being mentioned, thank you!
Very cool! Thanks for passing this on. I'd love to write more about Bristol hip-hop as I am hoping my next book will be on UK hip-hop. I've only lived in Bristol a few years (from California originally), but I absolutely love it and think there is something really special here. -J I agree with you... I will drop you a DM as I'd love to support you if I can

Depends what you're after. I have some experience, but if you're talking about micing up a live band, then I'm not the man for that task.
I work with a bunch of artists and always looking to expand who we work with, so always good to know! This particular artist isn't happy with the mixing and mastering he currently pays for and wants to find someone else on a more permanent basis. In addition (and not necessarily together) he's also looking for a decent studio to record in as well - he wants to shop around and explore prices and conditions etc

I'm fine using wordpress templates, although the initial setup baffles me a bit. hopefully we have a budget soon - all the money has been spent creating the music so far and is off for mastering... depending what happens off of the back of this we should hopefully have a budget for the next project this is just to network and build a bit of a core audience for now

Hey Hijack, just wondered if anyone knew much about web design. I'm design a website but basically it looks shit viewing on a mobile. I've had a bit of a google and there appears to be websites whereby you can create mobile friendly versions... can anyone recommend which is best to use please? ideally free!
Thanks, Jolo

Ceaze: The Crowning of Series (2004/05) is now up. It's been a reflective mood for DLMTG as we saw Ceaze sentenced to 15 years imprisonment last week. He will be a huge loss to the team and to the scene. Ceaze is an exceptional talent! I will continue to build on the back catalogue and post more Ceaze cds and from other members soon. http://dlmtg.bandcamp.com/album/the-crowning-of-series
