Interesting.... Brooke is a proper Yorkshire surname, and you can see it from them maps.

Don't really check Dubstep forum much as it's so boring !

Likewise. DOA for dubstep, but without the fun..... I was only there to read the comments about this mix.....
153  General / The Forum / Re: 'dubstep vs techno' mix on: April 13, 2007, 15:23:34
Nice one. I take it Villalilloboabos didn't turn up then ?  Huh

Check the thread on dubstepforum. He sent in a mix of pure deep techno, which wasn't gonna work in the same show, aparrently. It's gonna get played some other time.
154  General / The Forum / Re: 'dubstep vs techno' mix on: April 13, 2007, 14:55:59

Fuck that, it's all about the Woodcraft folk!  Tomato Slayer!

yeah man i was one of thoes....great fun

got to go camping and all sorts Cool

Yeah, we went on these big hippy camps where we sang peace songs round a massive campfire, slept in teepees and took turns to cook enormous vats of porridge, went protesting against nukes (our group was run by ex-greenham common wymmin), raised money for Greenpeace and pushed Labour party propaganda through Tory neighbourhood doors - this was Michael Foot scarecrow Labour, mind.....

Actually, I was a scout too - 55th St Mary's, Fishponds. It was cool, we built massive tottering structures out of logs and bits of rope.    Cool

i have reached a personal LHC milestone this month - I am now receiving over 1,000 work-related emails a week. there are 4,689 of them sitting unread in my inbox!   Smashed Cry

Yeah, basically they fucked up..... The re-design is being done at CERN ;-)

That article does make it sound like you just need a pocket calculator and building these things is a piece of piss, though... It mentions the fact that they reviewed the design in 1998... So they've been working on it for over a decade then - and if it takes that long to get right, it ain't exactly simple!

nice one jimbers!

The only downside was that I got a bit over-enthusiastic the first time I took it out - having ridden it for about 30 seconds and two turns, I hit a kicker too fast and too far forward. Did half a front flip onto my shoulder, and tore a bunch of ligaments (a 'sprung AJC' apparently Huh)... The doc sorted me out with some serious painkillers, so I still rode all week - but it's fcuking killing me now... Cry

btw was working on a new, single-tempo broken beat mix over the w/e which will be a lot tougher than this old one.

Two Thumbs

tough is good. i had a brief flirtation with the kind of broken that was verging on the edge of dubstep a couple of years ago... it always felt to me like the good stuff hadn't been made yet...

175  General / The Forum / Re: Help save Gloucester Road from Chips! on: March 06, 2007, 11:13:21
but if its in the council's best interests (ie they can make some moola and nobody complains too much) then i think its pretty obvious what their decision will be.  if people dont appose it, if we just sit back and let it happen (that's called apathy that is), then there's no stopping them Sad

so what you're saying is it's actually the fault of the public and their apathy...
176  General / The Forum / Re: Help save Gloucester Road from Chips! on: March 06, 2007, 09:57:28
why do the council keep trying to fuck up Glos Rd the cunts Sad

i don't want to stick up for the council, but that's a classic hijack knee-jerk reaction - this is an application, the council haven't made a decision yet.... :belm:
177  General / The Forum / Re: Something 'awesome' you've done this week... on: March 04, 2007, 22:33:03
I went to see Faust in London last night, it was one of the most fucked up ina good way things I've ever done. You turn up at this massive 5 storey building, all the audience wear ghoul masks so you can tell who the actors are, then you're set free to roam the whole building. You stumble into dark rooms and find people acting out a bit of the play, with loads of people standing around in these masks, then they all run out and you wander around til you find another bit of it.
And I thought we were staying at my boyfriend's parents house but he'd booked an awesome hotel for us wooot!  Love

That sounds genius!  Two Thumbs
178  General / The Forum / Re: quadrophonic rigs on: March 02, 2007, 17:11:29
Orbital did it at the Trinity back around 94ish. Whenever Sound City was.

I saw/heard them do this in the Anson Rooms in '94. Was Sound City in '95... Huh

Anyway, i have no idea if the quadness was any good cos I only have one working ear, and can't hear what direction sound is coming from - I can't even imagine what it would be like....
179  General / The Forum / Re: Something 'awesome' you've done this week... on: March 01, 2007, 17:03:08
I'd quite like to go heli-boarding, but it's banned in France, for good reason. I reckon ski-mountaineering is more ecologically sound - think i will save the heli-boarding for Alaska....

The only awesome thing I did this week was break a personal record for amount of time spent in meetings - 11.5 hours on Tuesday!

There might be more creative exchange between them, instead of now being seen as completely separate.

Eh? Looks like there's plenty of crossover from where I'm standing...

I think Ben means that grime MCs are just that - and the same goes for dubstep producers/MCs. There aren't many producers/MCs that truly straddle the divide at the moment.

Two Thumbs

Sure, there are bascially none. Thought he was talking about the music of one influencing the other....

btw I never liked Vault. First time I heard it was in a Stu C4C studio mix and it wound me up even then.

innit. I have to admit I enjoyed it when Kulak dropped it at Ashton Court and the crowd went off, but before and since - couldn't stand it...
192  General / The Forum / Re: Pendulum/haters/popularity on: February 23, 2007, 17:28:29
what I completely fail to understand is why they're so popular... i know loads of people who think their stuff is amazing, but to be honest i can't find a good thing to say about it... really, i find it more inexplicable than pretty much any other 'music' i can think of... (well, apart from some of that shit punksi likes Bad Teeth).

the time we need to start really reducing the ammount of CO2 we put into the atmosphere.

that time is now!

I agree, i am refering to a point in the book. At the moment atmospheric CO2 is at about 380ppm, we will see noticable issues with the climate at 480ppm and 550ppm is the point of no return.

Oh, OK.

I don't think the numbers are really that clear cut, though; specially concerning the 'point of no return'. And pretending to make detailed predictions of a chaotic system is unnecessary anyway - it's clearly getting warmer, there is clearly correlation between temperature and CO2, and we should clearly all be doing our bit to reduce emissions...
