1  General / The Forum / Blacksmith & Carasel's Music Studio Fundraiser on: August 11, 2015, 13:52:23
Hi guys,

You may or may not have heard but back in May of this year myself, Carasel & Foreign Concept had our music studios broken into and we were cleared out of around £8000 worth of equipment including a 27 inch iMac, drum machines, monitors, synths, microphones etc.

Obviously this was pretty devastating and at the time we were foolishly uninsured.

We've organised a fundraising night at the Thekla on the 21st of August & the FB event can be found here https://www.facebook.com/events/803942336393804/

We've got some absolutely incredible special guests that will be announced on the night which we unfortunately can't divulge yet due to exclusivity agreements but the line up includes..

CRISSY CRISS, DC BREAKVERY SPECIAL GUEST HEADLINER
DC BREAKS (Ram/Virgin EMI)
CRISSY CRISS (1xtra, Technique, Dead Exit)
SPECIAL SURPRISE GUEST(S) FROM HOSPITAL RECORDS
GORGON SOUND (Peng Sound, Kahn & Neek)

The support we've been receiving so far has been great and would be wicked to see some of the hijack lot down there if free!

Big ups.

All in all another great Carnival which I seem to enjoy more and more each year!
24  General / The Forum / Re: Whats your Glastonbury highlights? on: June 30, 2011, 23:33:02
Never been before and I think whatever I post in here, I still wouldn't be able to nearly sum up how epic that week was for me.

Every day/night was a highlight for so many reasons, most of which had nothing to do with seeing acts either. Probably the biggest highlight was the Friday. Watching Wu Tang having had no sleep, getting an hour or 2 then heading for the incredible set Shadow played. Meeting a nice lil lady and then rocking to the West Holts bar for some ridiculous Motown covers band/funk DJ...followed by Catching DJ Switch at around 4am and ending up on top of the tower in the Park at 7. All in all probably the best consecutive run of nights I've ever had.

First time glasto post cheese it probably is..do I care? Naaah!

Didn't catch all of his set but friends did and no-one I was with got that impression. My housemate ended up linking him a smoke and being a huge doom fan would of been the first to spot a fake do I'd find it hard to believe that one!
26  General / The Forum / Frenic's new E.P - SoulBass - Out Now!! on: June 13, 2011, 10:19:54
Know Frenic doesn't use hijack much so thought I'd post this up!

Bit of info on the release..

I'm very proud and exited to announce that my E.P "SoulBass" is now on full release on "Pig Balls Records" this E.P has more of a dance floor vibe I have tried to keep my style of deep samples and beats and added some nice synths and baselines. So get over to Juno Records and buy a copy!

"All aboard for a fantastic voyage to the future funk dancefloor. Frenic keeps it bubbling with the soulful sound, and caps it off with devastating bass wobbles. Well worth a return ticket.:-DJ Moneyshot (Solid Steel, Big M, Proto Hype)

28  General / The Forum / Re: We are people = No Ultramagnetic Mc's, no refund and a slap in the face. on: June 07, 2011, 17:13:46
I honesty had a brilliant time....few teething problems but loved to see that calibre of acts down at the Harborside, would be a real shame if It didnt happen again. Wicked start to the festival season I thought, The Streets, Chase and Status, Annie Mac, Subfocus, Doom, Redlight were all really good, didnt spend much time in the other tent as the sound was too low as stated before. I had personally had blast anyway and im suprised so many people are being so negative but I also had the bonus of great company and intoxication for the whole duration

Script There were def some issues to address and can't speak on the sat but I had a great time on the Sun, as Cara said I was with some great company for the day and some of the acts I saw were great, Streets being a highlight. Only real issues I found were the sound levels being too low in the tent and prices were on the steep side for what was available! However a few bottles of stashed vodka later soon changed that!

Everything considered an enjoyable day out on my doorstep with some incredible acts.

31  General / The Forum / Re: We are people = No Ultramagnetic Mc's, no refund and a slap in the face. on: May 25, 2011, 18:47:44
It's a contract that you're stepping into when purchasing a ticket between you and the festival organiser, if they state that everyone needs to wear rubber cocks on their faces and you don't they could refuse you entry. It's all there, fuck your opinion, they've stated what the terms are so you SHOULD know what you're getting yourself into.

Don't be a dick, if you read the original post it's not as if the guy was ripping into the organizers at all, clearly stating what they'd told him and giving a heads up to anyone else who was planning to buy a ticket to see Ultramagentic. I know A LOT of people who were planning to go solely for Ultramagnetic MCS so that was a helpful post. Granted with it being a festival a refund would be unlikely on that basis but still..

They are the only act on the bill I'm vaguely interested in, but otherwise there's nothing else there that interests me.

 Script

is there a way we can get a subsidised ticket just for Ultramagnetic's? else will just have to ninja into Oceana and watch from the balcony...!!

Day tickets are around £30.. your looking at that to go see one band at 02 these days..! jus deal with it

Looking forward to this!

Yeah you say that, but this lineup isn't that special for £35 a day considering potentially 20,000 ticket sales, £700,000 potential revenue, with a lineup that probably cost no more than £30-40k max.. Somebody is gonna be making a lot of money  Pimp

"The south-wests most exhilirating festival" LOL I don't even need to comment on that.. Plus, why call it a festival? I guess I'm a bit old fashioned, but I allways thought a festival should be on grass  NERD ALERT!

£40k max, haha!!

Could you give us a break down on that figure boss......

Script Considering a lot of the artists performing can and have sold out the academy by themselves with tickets on average £20 a piece this is going to cost a lot more than 40k just for bookings!

Rakim is my most favourite rap man ever...

I don't want to do the event down though.

 Smiley

Ahhh... I was gonna say.

As I've always said though, hip hop seem to have a pretty large failure rate in terms of 'amazing' shows. I'm often left underwhelmed and I hope this isn't the case.

Seriously hope he brings Blackstar as tour support though! I think hoping for De La Soul as well would be a bit ambitious.

I wouldn't count on Blackstar showing up, as sick as it would be I can't ever see that happening.

44  General / The Forum / Re: Hip Hop Nights In Bristol? on: February 01, 2011, 18:36:35
I'm up for playing a hip-hop night!

3rd Rail brought some dope hiphop artists to Bristol about 5-10 years back. I'm sure I saw Jazzy Jeff, Prince Paul and Lord Finesse at 3rd Rail nights (unless they were other hiphop nights at Level)

Prince Paul was Ben Dubuisson promoting it, but Finesse was 3rd Rail I think; must have been around 5 years ago.

Pretty sure Masta Ace & Primo (both at Level) were 3rd Rail/Shoestring nights too

Blatantly room for another hip hop night at The Bank anyway... there were fuck loads at E Shed a while back and they all seemed to do OK. Does anyone ever put on hip hop in Cosies anymore? If it's not a live act, then that was always decent

That first primo night was siiiick, still got the poster for it! Should get Frenic on board for a hip hop night, Smashes nights and would be good to hear him drop a strictly hip hop set!

Nothing that sensational really; The Sun making a story out of nothing for a change. Let him say what he wants at his own show. He does need to shut up sometimes but he's just a super passionate dude.

New album is off the scale.

This  Script There's no doubt he can come across as an absolute nause sometimes but imo he is just insanely passionate to the point where he refuses to hold back. Think being in the limelight so much after his mum died just fucked with his head massively as well.

Regardless though the new album is incredible!
47  General / The Forum / Re: Booka Shade last night at Motion on: November 22, 2010, 18:54:17
Yeah this was pretty ridiculous. Previous motion events have been fine but with this one where its sold out and the whole night is based around one single act you need a plan.  The night was basically a gig yet they sold more tickets than could go see the main act. I really hope this is a one off unexpected thing because if the promoters do the same again it goes from being a mistake to a cynical ploy in my opinion.

Didn't help that the security were very agressive. One of our group who did the same as others (early nip out to go toilet as not to miss the bulk of the set) couldn't get back in, I guess she made the mistake of waiting til the security weren't paying attention before walking in, but some security guard practically picked her up a shoved her against a wall. A bit of an overreaction to a 5ft sober girl simply trying to walk into the room.

They were good though, one of my favourite live acts i've seen this year. Just a shame the surrounding circumstances meant a very sour taste was left

It's actuaally quite common at motion, the main room capacity isn't anywhere the same as the total club capacity, so if there is a wadliner who Sverige has gone to see themain room goes nuts! I was gutted I missed this still...

Had the same problem at KRS One!
