i burnt 60 on blackjack and roulette at Gala last night after raping them for about the same last friday Cry

Ouch... Those are both losing games in my opinion... The odds are too much in favour of the house, which is why I like poker cause you pays your entry fee and thats it, you have the same chances as anyone else!

 Smashed

The odds on Blackjack are easy to work out, the dealer plays from the same deck of cards as you so you have the same chance of getting the same hand as them, they are not stacked in their favour at all, plus the dealer has to draw a card if he has under 17 which you do not have to.

I agree with roulette though its a terrible game.

The casino has an edge on every game they offer - yes the dealer plays from the same deck as the players, the advantage comes from the fact that players make a decision on their hand before the dealer.  Having said that it still offers the best odds of all the games available, house advantage is something like 1% if you're playing basic strategy.

4213  General / The Forum / Re: Swimming Pools in Brizzol?? on: November 30, 2006, 18:31:45
There's a swimming pool at the city centre end of Jamaica St.  It's part of the BRI, if you're walking down Park Row, just before you get to Jamaica St there's a ramp on the left and it's up there, costs about 3.

that's literally opposite my flat, but i heard you needed membership of some sort from Punksi. is this not the case?

Not as far as I know, haven't been for a couple of months but has been fine whenever I've been there.   Two Thumbs

I've visited Leeds and really liked it but never been there for any length of time.  Not sure about clubbing but people I know at uni there have told me it's sick for house parties, mainly because some areas are populated almost entirely by students. And there's something like 40,000 students there. So I say go.

4224  General / The Forum / Re: Goldie in violence over remix shocker on: September 30, 2006, 11:28:19
I don't even know where to start with some of the shit that was spouted last night...wouldn't normally bother, as someone else said it would normally be put down to drunkenness but as you say you were sober:

My man Goldie doesn't hide behind his computer screen when he is offended
All you faggots, I'd knock your bullshit internet cock sucking asses out of the way.

I don't know whether I've ever seen someone contradict themselves so much in one post. How can you slate people for 'hiding behind computer screens' then a couple of lines later come out with all this wannabe gangster shit? What's your suggestion anyway? Go to London, find Goldie and suggest to him personally that perhaps he shouldn't over react in the future?  Laugh it's inevitable people arte going to voice opinions about this on a music forum so why not try and put forward your opinion without sounding like a complete muppet?

btw sofi- do u think Shitmat, Krumble, Rotator, Bong Ra or indeed anyone in breakcore has asked permission from the artists of the billions of dancehall tracks they sampled? doubt it somehow.

Music is public domain in t e undergorund & copyright doesn't mean a fucking thing. Let he who is without samples cast the first stone GOLDIE.

this aint a breakcore topic and also i think Goldie and "timeless" are a bit bigger than a few breakcore acts you know?

The success of the original tune is irrelevant, if you've got an opinion on the use of sampling then you've at least got to be consistent with it.  But you seem to have got confused anyway, Goldie's tune was the original, and the breakcore acts are the ones using the samples, I have no doubt that some of the samples used in breakcore have been lifted from tunes at least as big as Inner City Life.

i dont even care if goldie smacked sumone

Huh why are you posting then?

i think thats pretty sad mate. dont compare shooting to a punch in the face. I ALSO THINK IT IS VERY SAD THAT PEOPLE WILL POST A THREAD ON HIJACK ABOUT SOMEONE BEING SHOT....HOW DISRESPECTFUL CAN YOU GET?Huh?

comparing a punch in the face to someone being killed.

It's not disrespectful, it would be 100x more so if the event was to pass by unnoticed and didn't at least prompt some debate as to why it happened etc. Stating that it's ok to punch someone but that shooting someone is too far is a bit hypocritical.  I've read about enough incidents where someone's been punched on a night out, they've lost their balance, cracked their head on something and died.  So if you're going to lay into someone you'd better be prepared to take responsibility for the consequences.

Sorry for the long post, wouldn't normally bother at all but some of the things said were just so idiotic I couldn't help myself.

4229  General / The Forum / Re: Man shot dead at bristol nightclub on: September 18, 2006, 18:45:16
Wasn't quite suggesting that, just pointing out that big campaigns rarely influence the people that are actually involved in the problem.  Can't say I know what the answer is but I think smaller, locally based youth projects aimed at educating people about the consequences of carrying weapons might be a better idea.  Then again I'm sure this sort of thing goes on at the moment and events like this still happen.  However much is done to try and prevent things like this there are always going to be a few people out there who can't be reasoned with.
4230  General / The Forum / Re: Man shot dead at bristol nightclub on: September 18, 2006, 18:37:18
It wasn't, "free shot with every drink", was it?.

Unfortunately there is still a poster outside the door saying just that...

maybe there should be some anti-violence or anti weapon event in retalliation to this  tragedy... it might not do that much, but it'd certiainly raise awareness

That's the problem with these sort of things, they raise awareness about the problem but ultimately don't do a lot about it.  Anyone who's prepared to carry a weapon in the first place probably isn't going to pay a lot of attention to some sort of media campaign.  The knife amnesty recently struck me as really odd, it's not as if anyone who's actually planning on using a knife is going to see some advert in a phone box and suddenly decide to head on down to the police station to hand it in.

how do you get them?  BRRRAAAAP

Don't bother, unless you want to be like the self-righteous twat I met on Friday who asked when we were going to start playing some Reggae when we had been for the past 3 hours. Just because we weren't playing some self-concious, off-key, dull as dishwater Roots Reggae, doesn't mean it's not valid. Your assumption that our selection of Rocksteady, Ska and 50's R&B meant no one was dancing was way off the mark - if you bothered to turn around you would have seen a rammed dancefloor with people enjoying themselves. The Skatalites were practicing Rastafarians FFS!!

I don't know who these fuckers think they are. If you're white you can't be Rasta, by default. To a hardcore Rastafarian you are still the blonde-haired, blue-eyed devil. Stop pretending to be Haile Selassie and get a life. If you want to talk about Roots music, let's talk about Roots music,  otherwise get out of my face and stay at home with your Best Ever Roots Music Vol 3 CD compilation, because from what you requested on Friday that is about as deep as you get.

Sorry for the rant, but these wankers get on my nerves. GRRRRRRR!!! Angry

...and relax.

Yes mate, because every white person with dreads is a wannabe rasta.

1. Having dreads is just a hairstyle, it is possible to adopt a fashion from another culture without wanting to become the personification of that culture.  I find it quite amusing that you get so worked up about white people with dreads but you play reggae? Do you follow rastafarianism?

2. It is possible to have dreads and not be a self-righteous twat.  I'm not really that fussed about it, used to have dreads but not anymore, just seems odd that if there were such blatant stereotypes flying around about other members of society then the usual crew would be kicking off about it.

All the posts at the start made me laugh, especially dan fix's, but there's no need to get so worked up just because the person who pissed you off the other night had dreads... Two Thumbs

The Triangle casino is still open and has a poker room but don't particularly like that place. Stanleys is near Temple Meads and has a poker room, pretty sure they'll organise private tournaments and provide dealers for about 50p a player if you can guarantee a certain number of people. Hope that helps.

It also engenders racism and loutish behaviour both of which are abhorrent.

I don't think you can oppose the World Cup based on these grounds. For the minority maybe but if you're not a racist or a lout for the rest of the year then the World Cup isn't going to turn you into one for four weeks over the summer.  It's like people making assumptions about clubbers/ravers based on what thye've read in the Daily Mail. I'm not fussed about football at all but I get into England games, not because I love England particularly, or because I hate all the other nations but because for a while everyone gets into it so much that the atmosphere and tension turn watching a football match into an enjoyable experience.  Who cares if it all boils down to the fact we all live on the same island?
