Waddup!

I left Bristol about 8/9 years ago but I visit as often as I can. I was actually last in a nightclub a month or two ago for Mungo's Hifi at Thekla, but that doesn't happen very often! I work in CRM at Heathrow Airport but I'm about to start up a production agency producing all their marketing assets. I also run a little music festival back home in Godalming. That's in it's 7th year this year. Stops me feeling too old, and helps me pretend I'm cool. I still DJ parties and pubs as long as I can playu what I like. I've run through a few girlfriends including 1) Drug addict 2) Married and 3) 16 years my junior. Surprisingly none worked out. Latest one is definately a keeper though.

I'm really keen to see what matey with the motorbike, the haircut and the unhealthy interest in kids is up to.

Forgot about El Noodle and all the paedo jibes  I am laughing, but I am also sad

How did all of that start again?

A good question. I can't recall.

It started with some harmless fllirting on MySpace, and turned into full scale grooming. Then he grew that haircut and bought his child-catching motorbike. The rest is his-story.

No, but if it is just a re-edit and not a remix, it probably isn't that hard to re-do. Where have you heard it?

A real life Hijack conversaiton! It's been so long.

I heard it on the Craig Charles show ages ago, but it's here on soundcloud...

https://soundcloud.com/radio-hotel-djs/prince-i-wanna-be-your-lover-dimitri-from-paris-re-edit

It's from a live recording.

That's right, it's a genuine, new, music related topic.

Has anyone got a wav or mp3 of the DImitri in Paris edit of I wanna be your Lover? I need it enough to post on Hijack again.  Two Thumbs

I've had a kit in my cupboard for far too long. I might start it this weekend.

A mate of mine (who runs a pub) has been brewing properly with a friend of his for a while now. He's going to be doing a brewing demo at our festival next year where everyone that gets involved gets a bottle of the beer a few weeks later.

26  General / The Forum / So I've bought a new laptop (tips to keep it sparkly and new)... on: August 17, 2015, 13:15:01
I'm waiting on delivery of a shiny new laptop, and I'd like it to feel new for as long as possible. Beyond never hooking it up to the internet (which isn't really an option, especially as it has no CD drive) are there any other tips to keeping it in good health and running well? I'll be running traktor on it, and most likely doing some coding with Brackets. I may look to install Creative Suite and I might play the odd game or two, but not right away.

Anyone?

30  General / The Forum / Re: Laptops on: April 15, 2015, 12:56:53
If you know Mac and have been using one for ages getting a cost effective windows alternative is not worth the headache.

Ultrabooks is where its at for me but they start at 700quid. That's with a sexy 1440p screen and svelte looks and weighing in at under 1.5kg. The thing is that is 2nd hand macbook territory.

I did use a Mac at work, so could have handled the switch but I've used PCs for years. Can you link me to that ultrabook? I'm looking at non ultrabooks so far for about £800 for the spec that seems sensible if I want it to last (i7, 8/16GB, 250GB SSD).
31  General / The Forum / Re: Laptops on: April 15, 2015, 12:50:51
I'm looking to sell some camera gear and replace two old laptops (one day-to-day and web design work, the other traktor DJing) with one new one. For £400 cheaper than a second hand Macbook Pro I can get a brand new, similarly specced PC laptop. It just doesn't seem worthwhile going for a Mac. I'd be keen to hear if anyone thinks otherwise though.

38  General / The Forum / Re: Calling all landlords/pub managers on: November 26, 2014, 12:16:20
I read something on Facebook posted by CAMRA about it. Glanced at anyway, hence not knowing the details. It seemed to imply that moving forward people will be able to take on a pub either tied or rent-only. It's a good thing, knowing how hard landlord friends of mine have had it as tenants of big breweries.
39  General / The Forum / Re: Calling all landlords/pub managers on: November 26, 2014, 11:59:34
Landlords - Am I right in thinking that you can now always be free of tie to the brewery/pubco that you rent your pub from?

I use Wordpress and if you use the right theme, it'll be fine on mobile. This is one I made for someone.

http://jonnyandthegiants.com

Wix, or Weebly are easier if you have less experience with web design though, from what I've heard.

49  General / The Forum / Traktor/Traktor scratch users on: September 02, 2014, 10:16:30
I currently use Traktor with a Traktor Kontrol S2. We're thinking about picking up a pair of 1210s as we're starting a monthly night here in Godalming and the bar has no kit, so rather than rent each month, it makes sense to buy some. I'll be keeping hold of them and so I'd like to start using them with Traktor.

My question is, am I better off buying a Traktor certified mixer (I'm looking at the Denon DN-X1600 which has great write ups) or a non certified mixer and Traktor scratch? My thinking is, I'll be fine with the Denon mixer at our night, but if I play out elsewhere that doesn't have a Traktor Scratch setup I'll be stuck if I can't take my own along. What do Traktor users think?
