under_score is very proud to present the core, the foundation of our party; the under_score DJs - spinning the hottest sounds around for 12 years. We return for a special basement session of house/techno/other vibes.

Paul Purgas is one half of acclaimed Bristolian sound scientists Emptyset. Along with his partner James Ginzburg, their productions have stripped techno down to the bare bones for labels such as Subtext and Raster-Noton. On the decks Paul Purgas’ fast-cutting DJ style takes in the rawest jacking Chicago house, hard hitting Detroit electro and floor burning Italo disco.

Placid has been spinning the platters that matter since 1990, legendary for his sets of purest 303-drenched acid and his reputation as 'The DJ's DJ'. Resident on DJ International radio and London's I Love Acid, Placid is thought to be owner of one of the world's most encompassing collections of Acid House. Placid can always be trusted to dig deep to serve a pure vinyl set of blistering acid house, Detroit techno, retro electro and Chicago house.

Jim Petherwick has been part of under_score from the very beginning. Often referred to affectionately as the 'Godfather' or 'Technician', his seamless mixes never miss a beat. An adventurous DJ, Jim Petherwick blends effortlessly between deep techno, bass heavy dubstep, skipping garage beats and electronic curios to create a rich and diverse collage of sound. Guaranteed to move the mind and feet in equal measure.

under_score is very proud to present a special DJ set from revered Manchester selector Conor Thomas. He has been a key member of the team behind on-line retailer Boomkat, which remains one of the worlds most essential destinations for exciting and original new music.

As a DJ and promoter Conor has been spinning throughout the city for the past 10 years and fully immersed in the city's music scene, playing the full spectrum of electronic and dance music. His Faktion events have brought forward-thinking and innovative acts from around the world to Manchester, including Omar Souleyman, Hieroglyphic Being, Anthony Shakir, Rashad Becker and Shangaan Electro. Conor’s sets as Faktion’s resident DJ are always a highlight of the night, with their crucial mix of classic techno, italo disco, EBM and electronic curios.

Recent bookings have included Berlin’s Berghain for the CTM festival, and Golden Püdel's MFOC event in Hamburg, as well as regular slots at London's Blackest Ever Black and Unknown To The Unknown. Conor currently co-curates the Boomkat Editions and Death of Rave labels, the latter playing a vital role in issuing important and challenging records. A recent high profile release of video artist Mark Leckey’s essential ’Firorucci Made Me Hardcore’ soundtrack met with universal praise.

In support we have Bristol legend Andy Payback. His Pedestrian club night was pivotal in bringing the creme de la creme of electronica to the city in the early 00’s and a massive influence on our party. Currently running Sunday session Under Heavy Manners with Idle Hands bossman Chris Farrell, Andy’s acclaimed and eclectic DJ sets are known to take in everything from Krautrock, Dub Reggae, Industrial, Post Punk and Electro.

Last but not least we have two of Bristol's finest techno DJs, Placid & Jim Petherwick (under_score), holding the party down and playing the hottest sounds around.

Under_score and Idle Hands are very proud to present a special live set by American electronic producer Strategy, aka Paul Dickow. Over the past decade, through labels ranging from ambient titan Kranky to sun-kissed 100% Silk, Portland Oregon resident Strategy has been behind some of the most forward-thinking music to beam out of the Pacific Northwest.

On record Strategy has released 8 albums and 19 Singles, which run the gamut from odd-ball pop, spaced-out disco, psychedelic house, future dub and spacious horizontal soundscapes. His recent killer 12" for Bristol based Idle Hands 'Return From The Stars', features a ghostly skanking melodica, riding on wave after wave of gorgeously physical and immersive dub techno. So successful was this release, Strategy has returned to Idle Hands with the new album 'Seeds Of Paradise'. This finds the producer boldly firing experimental electronics and dub back into outer space, nestling deftly between roots influence and sci-fi leanings.

For this party Strategy will be donning his 'club' persona, and presenting a dance-floor ready hardware live set, geared to move the mind and feet in equal measure.

In support we have a selection of Bristol's finest techno DJs, Placid & Jim Petherwick (under_score) with Idle Hands bossman Chris Farrell playing the hottest sounds around.

under_score are proud to present a special DJ set by Cardiff techno legend DJ Guy (aka Guy Evans). DJ Guy's backstory is a fascinating one - a talented DJ and producer with years of experience, Guy was plucked from relative obscurity with a recent release on highly regarded Glasgow based label All Caps.

The resulting '20' 12" issued in April, tunes into the same raw, hotwired energy as Carl Craig's classic Psyche/69 recordings. All spiralling synths, dusty drums and warm chords, recorded live using a bedroom studio set up, straight to cassette. It's staggeringly how tracks this good have remained unheard for nearly 20 years and pack a visceral thrill that is often missing from so much modern dance music.

If Guy's productions are until only recently receiving attention, he was a major force in the Welsh capital's underground music scene, playing out weekly from 1990 to 2003 and holding down residences at popular clubs such as Valentino's and the Tom Tom Club. Noted for his virtuoso mixing style focusing on beat-matching elements, working both tracks to the bone in order to create the often elusive "third record". Transforming tracks by blending them together, creating infinite combinations and real-time live remixing on the decks.

In support we have under_score residents Placid, Paul Purgas & Jim Petherwick, plus BMO from Delete in Bournemouth playing the hottest sounds around.
